  1. Update. Went to ford swan hill today for the latch to be fixed, which it was. I spoke to a very helful woman about the dent who took some photos to send to ford along with the claim. She said because they already had evidence of it being a faulty part that caused the damage she thinks there is a pretty good chance that ford will approve the claim, it just might take a while for them to process it. So looks like it's wait and see time, but if I'm lucky it might get sorted. I appreciate the advice and I'll post when I hear something else.
  2. I'm assuming the safety cable disconnected because the tailgate came down and was caught the first time, but when it bounced up it put pressure back onto the cable which allowed them to slip off. Then it came all the way down the second time onto the tailgate. There was no damage to the cables or any of it's fittings.
  3. One of those latches (similar to what you would find on a door) has broken and is now presumably floating around in the tailgate somewhere. Also the return spring for the handle, so you have to acually push it back to close it.
  4. That's what I figured, but it's pretty frustrating! I'll see what dealer says tomorrow and go from there I guess. Thanks for the replies.
  5. Hi guys, I need some advice with a warranty issue for my xr6 turbo ute. I booked it into ford a week ago for warranty inspection of the tailgate as one of the latches has broken. It is being seen tomorrow. Today while I was driving I hit a small bump and the tailgate flew open, it managed to disconnect itself from the cable struts and landed on the towball leaving a big dent in the tailgate. My question is, do I have a leg to stand on if I want ford to fix the dent due to the damage being caused by a faulty part? I'm sure im not the first person to be in this sort of situation. Thanks in advance for the advice, Lindsay
  6. Yeah, it has a factory fitted tow pack so I'm assuming the sensors are aftermarket.
  7. Sooooo I figured out what the switch is for today. I was wondering why my reverse sensors weren't working, went through the manual and the icc to try to figure it out, but couldn't find anything. Thought it was worth a go to flick the switch and what do ya know the reverse sensors are back on. I'm assuming they are aftermarket sensors as the switch turns them on and off. That switch was driving me mad so I'm pretty glad I finally worked out what it's for. Has anybody else ever come across this set up before?
  8. What is that switch ford freak? looks nothing like mine, but I can't quite make out the symbol.
  9. Na, I'm still here. Just trying to discern the sarcasm from those that are serious. Whatever it is, I don't think it's connected because there is no change in performance (or anything else for that matter) with the switch on
  10. Thanks for the info guys. Does that necessarily mean that it has been used as a cop car?
  11. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a cop chip?
  12. That's a good point that I hadn't thought of, but I'm pretty sure it had a soft top from factory. Yep, it looks like a little black light switch. It's driving me insane not knowing what it is!
  13. Hey guys, first post here. I bought an fg xr6 turbo ute a week ago and I'm loving it so far! I found a switch the day I picked it up on the steering column near the ignition barrel. It looks like a light switch, but I have no clue what it's for or what it does. I can't find it in the manual or any reference to it on google or here. Can anyone help as to what it is? Thanks, Lindsay
