Yep love my T too and also sick of all the negativity going on around here lately. Had it two months and the smile will be here for a while yet. Put a small ding in it tonight driving it home from work. Oh, the pain!!!

I don't mind 'em on the 8. Doesn't work for me with the Turbo though.

First, the guy got flogged by a Suzuki. It's one freakin quick Swift though so y'all just accept it and get over it. Second, I don't care how fast the Suzuki is, you wouldn't catch me dead in one. Third, they're both a couple of cork heads in the first place.

Seems a popular sentiment that people are cheesed off with Ford for discounting their cars?!? WTF? Everyone KNOWS they discount their cars and if you don't take that into consideration when negotiating a purchase price you're either too loaded to care or an iiiidiot. I don't mean to offend anyone, but who walks into a car yard and slaps down the full RRP? Or even the first discount offer for that matter? Before you buy do the research, know the market price and discounts and never, ever, pay full price. Especially for a Ford or Holden...

I have had a BF XR6T auto now for 5 weeks. I have always been a manual guy, but after reading the huge wraps for the ZF auto I ended up ordering one (it was an agonising decision I can tell you). While waiting for delivery I actually thought I had made a blue by not getting the manual. Well, now I have experienced ZF reality I have to say it is sensational. Best of both worlds for sure - cruising in auto or ripping it in performance or sequential, the shifts are clean and fast. I love this car.

Currently drive a VX Gen III. WRX before that. Get a new T on Monday when my current lease expires. I don't really get into the Expensive Daewoo v Ford thing, but rather go for whatever happens to be the best on the market for my needs when I change over cars. This time I was considering a few different cars but it ended up coming down to the XR6T versus SS; both go like the clappers but the BF is a better all-round package I reckon. Will be interesting to see how the VE goes later this year but for the next 4 years I'm a Ford man...

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment: Ford WONT go down the path of categorically proving a particular modification caused engine failure for the simple fact it is a grey area and difficult to prove one way or the other. If they played it any other way they would spend half their time doing QA on modified engines that have failed trying to prove exact cause (and anecdotal evidence from this forum would suggest there are a lot more modified engines failing than un-modified ones). It is far easier - and cheaper - for Ford to simply take a stance that the engine warranty is voided by any modification and be done with it. That's the reason I won't mod mine (even though I'd love to), at least until the warranty runs out.

Law-shlaw. F6 UTE you gotta be kidding me? Since when did Aussies become a pack of whingeing, law abiding, dobbers? Fairdinkum, who cares if they go straight to the front? As long as they hammer when the lights to green I couldn't care less (and 95% of 'em do). In fact, if anything I prefer it if they clear traffic by lane splitting. Last thing I need is some bloke in front of me on two wheels dawdling in traffic...

M5 is a better car than the F6. Period. F6 is better value than the M5? Now there you've got an argument...

I have just bought an XR6T (on order, not recieved yet) and I have to say time over 1/4 mile was not as big an influence as the 0 - 100km/h times for me (which I can do legally!). Even then it is only one consideration of many and so long as it is competitive with similar cars in the market (eg, SS, WRX) then I compare other features. Looks are an issue (interior and exterior), as well as safety features. Stability control was definately a big winner for me with the BF - especially after being witness to a horrific rollover accident earlier this year. An oncoming car barely left the road, got into the gravel, lost it completely and rolled into a tree. Nasty stuff. Stability control will prevent this, and in the end it might just save your life... BUT, if performance wasn't an issue, I'd have gone with the XR6 N/A... so back to the point of the topic. Yes 1/4 mile and 0 - 100 times are a big consideration but have to be taken in conjunction with the total package.

Spot on. It's all about selling magazines by playing Ford against Holden, and Motor and Wheels have set it up beautifully to bring in the VE next year. They'll have the Holden-loyal readership that fired up now they will sell magazines by the boot-load when the new model is released to great acclaim and hype... unless GM really stuff it up, which I doubt

Actually, the limited test drive duration was my fault. I'd organised an early afternoon drive so as to miss peak hour but got caught up at work. I didn't end up getting there untill a few hours after we'd arranged. Ah well. Just to be impulsive I put an order in yesterday (it's a work car with a two month lead time and I'm sick of procrastinating). Got the Auto, iDesign luxury interior, plus a few more options, and Rapid in colour. Funnily enough colour was a tough choice too, especially as the yellow is a bit lairy... hopefully it will not date quickly.

Thanks for the feedback EvilDaifu. Appreciate you taking the time and effort. I am pretty sure I will go the ZF but don't want to be dissappointed with the car after outlaying 50K! I have been for a short test drive but it is very hard to tell after a 10 minute session in traffic with a salesman sitting beside me...

Howdy All, I am a new member to the site but have been following the forum for a little while now. I have to say the information and knowledge presented here has been brilliant for researching cars. Anyway I am in the market for a new car and have narrowed my search down to a BF XR6T. The only sticking point I have now is whether to go manual or auto. If I were going the BA Mk II I’d be manual for sure, however the write-ups on the ZF 6 speed make it very hard to ignore. I know this topic has been raised a few times in different guises, but what I am really interested in is feedback from anyone that has the ZF auto that is a manual convert… and in particular whether you are happy with your decision. Cheers.

250W premium system? I am looking at the spec sheet right now and premium audio includes: colour display screen, 6-disc in dash CD, 150W amp and 150W sub woofer. Are you sure they didn't give you the "prestige" audio instead?
