  1. ok, ive had a few PM's about the price we can do car PC's for. im thinking its going to be easier for me to reply in here to let every one know what some prices are. The price will depend on how small you want the pc to be and what specs you want it to have. For a 16.5x16.5x5.1 "Tiny PC" with the following specs Intel Mobile Celeron M 370 (1.5 GHz), 512MB DDR2 RAM, 40GB HDD, Slot-in Super-Multi DVD Burner, Genuine MS Windows XP Home Our normal price for this PC is $999 but for forum members we can drop this down to $900 If your after a "Micro PC" (larger than the Tiny PC but still alot smaller than a std PC) they are around $200 - $250 cheaper depending on the specs your after. The person to talk to regarding specifics about the PC's is the sales manager Troy as im only the design guy. You can contact Troy at troy@bb4b.com.au I have already discussed this with him and have a commitment to provide "trade" priceing to any forum member. These PC's do include DVD drives but do need a 240V inverter to run in the car. The Inverter will cost anything from $100 - $200 depending on your requirements. A GPS for satnav can be added for around $100. If ive missed anything, let me know and ill post it up. Cheers, Matt
  2. That's a problem heat wise, that is why I am using the P3 Where were you when I was doing my carputer Thanks again ← Heat isn't a problem, have you ever seen a P4 notebook? the small footprint computers run those processors fine. If you are worried about the heat in a full sized pc we can always supply you with a bigger heatsink...
  3. Excellent, if I can buy the parts cheaper, I can sell the finished unit cheaperCan you PM or email or post the prices for all of the components - I have no issues with you posting the prices here. Just for the record, this is not a money making excercise for me. It's a hobby if anything. However I don't want to loose money. Panda ← Just drop me a pm with what ya need and I'll give you a price. Keep in mind we only supply brand new components, therefore we cannot supply a P3 but can get a P4 or AMD64 for better price than what you listed for a P3. To give an example to add a dvd drive to a PC would cost no more than than $40 not $100 as listed above. Cheers.
  4. I have access to computers, bare bone systems, car PC's, and all manner accessories at a wholesale level. If any forum member is interested please PM me with what you want and how many and I'll give you a price... ...a price much cheaper than anyone can access retail. Panda if you want to PM me and I'll be able to supply you the above much cheaper than you have listed. An example of a good car pc has a footprint of 16.5x16.5x5.1cm this is a ready to go pc unit. I also have access to car pc units that are DIN mounting, suitable to fit underneath the ICC. cheers, Matt

  6. How many litres is the box for each sub? It looks a little tight from the photos.
  7. He could have just been curious on how his XR5 would go against the T, If I was him I'd want to know, good or bad. But then again picking a car that's more likely to be unmodified would have the way to go...
  8. The wires for the cig illumination will definatley dim with the dash lights. If they are dimming the opposite way swap the wires over. I have extended the power from the cig lighter to run my xbox, and I use the cig illumination wires to power the LEDs in the footwells and the definatley go dim, as I dim the dash...
  9. Who else has this problem?

  19. That is MKI or MKII... MKI had a few more problems than the MKII
  20. Any video signal that is put into the ICC screen has to be NTSC... However the problem lies in the fact that 95% of all camera's weather they be PAL or NTSC output video as a COMPOSITE signal. The ICC needs an RGB + Sync signal. This is easy to get from a xbox, dvd player, or PC. Not so easy from a camera. You can get convert boxes that go from Composite PAL to RGB + Sync NTSC but this is where the dollars come into it I think they are in the ball park of $400...

  25. I'm not a nuclear scientist, however... there are certain things that can go wrong with a nuclear reactor... however none of these are beyond control (short of a massive explosion from an outside attack, and no crashing a 747 into a well designed reactor will do stuff all...) For those who don't know what happened in 1986 at chenobyl a situation occured, basically where the coolant was allowed to drain away from the fuel rods this resulted in them heating up in an uncontrolled fashion ( yes this is the simple version so don't go off if I miss stuff) Uranium is a metal and like all metals expands with temperature, so with no collant around the fuel rods. The fuel inside the rods expanded so much that it cracked the rods escaped and well 13 days later the world found out what happend... Cause the Russians sure as hell wern't going to tell anybody. Anyway metal only expands to a point, so these days the rods have enough free space to allow for the expansion if the same thing were to happen again. The point that I'm getting at is while it seems opions on nuclear power have not changed among the less educated of us in the last 20 years the technology certainly has... and for the better. Nuclear waste is crap however you look at it, but like everything else it can be minimised and managed. For example plug "fast breeder reactor" into google and you'll find that these breeder reactors produce there own fuel from what would otherwise be depleted uranium waste.... This is a massive and interesting topic that you could go on for hours... In short get over it or get informed we will have no choice soon. End of rant.
