Hi guys, just have a few questions regarding oil's as tomorrow im doing an oil change for Diff and gearbox. Its at 110,000kms I have a very rattling clutch and some big clunks sometimes when changing gears (all of which will dissapear at 2,000rpm+) and reading some posts has guided me to do the oil change and pray it helps. walking into supercheap I had in mind to purchase castrol transmax z - which they didnt have so after getting the guy to look it up on the computer he said it recommended nulon multi vehicle fully synthetic automic fluid. I was hoping to buy a manual fluid as ive read some people say the thicker oil helps with the rattling etc.. though I have time tomorrow to return this for something else pending I can find any other informtion also you need about 4.8L so I would need to grab another 1L regardless but the shops 5 minutes away so no hassle.. I also purchased the nulon g70 g/box & diff treatment which ive read works wonders. I didnt however purchase diff oil as I was looking castrol SAF-XA but they didnt have that either. basically questions are to any manual owners who have had luck doing the change - 1. What oil has worked for you/recommend 2. Has any one used the nulon before and found it good 3. Is there any other diff oil people can recommend? Regards~ ill post results after the change too.

Well my MIL light is on have done the scan and it's the cat converter. Mechanic says will need a tune to get rid of the light and to replace the cat. Now my question is If your replacing the cat is it worth going full exhust e.g http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171130093648 for 1,100 Or Just the cat http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251364165450 For 500. Either way your paying for a tune after replacing the part so for 500 more you can get bigger dump pipes etc.. actually I have just realised what I think the issue is.. the indicators, they play up a little when changing lanes feels like the sensor isnt adjusted right

Malfunction indicator lamp just came up on my FG today its on all the time I drive. I am looking at getting high flow CATS installed and know that they set the light off is well. is it a major issue with them or can I hold off till I get work done on the car? (2-3 weeks away) also does anyone know a good place to get it checked in Vic northern suburbs

ill have to look that up! never heard of it. but im going to give them a rub back and try another coat after a wash

has any one tried painting the standard FG rims? I tried going black on mine today (taped over the ford badge and nuts) its silver I started by doing a light sand on it, then wiped that off and then decided to spray it black gloss. it came up nice except for parts on the rim seem to come up with silver dots were it seems like the paint wont stick to it. ive done 2 coats and the same on all rims. just little specs were it doesnt want to stick. any suggestions?

FG manual is at 104,000km makes a noise you can hear from outside if you lift up the hood sounds abit whining like its a pulley that needs changing?? any one esle

the noise is hard to describe.. its not screetching or rattling but sort of inbetween like a whining noise... and I heard from the were the belt is. as far as the clutch goes im not too sure I might take to a mechanic shee what they say. or change it myself seen some insturctions on the forum

these questions should probably be sorted between a few threads but ive done it slack and seen if anyone could answer all at once!! just purchased xr6t FG 100,000km diff bushes done at 95 and lube done at 97... 1.I feel that when I start the car the gear shift vibrates alot in nuetral, tottaly fine in gear but vibrates quite alot in nuetral. would that be due for a change soon or just normal? 2. I also think the timing belt needs a change soon, it makes a slight noise u can hear once lifting the bonnet. or has any one tried a home job on them? 3.does anyone know a good a mechanic for fords in melb 4. just some basic value for money upgrades , already have the cold air intake thanks

purchased. settled 17,5000 100,000 km full log service, manual and just had the diff bushes done and full lube service.

my two options were SS Expensive Daewoo or the fg leaning more towards the FG. about the same price to buy except the Expensive Daewoo has 85,000km Manual is well.

Hey all, looking at purchasing my first xr6 turbo this tuesday. 2008 FG model 100,000 kms. with a full log book I have a few questions regarding some concerns and price before making the purchase. Part 1 looking at redbook they estimate the average price Private Price Guide$$16,600 -14,500 With Average Km 90,000 - 150,000 . Now when looking on car sales the lowest you can find an FG xr6turbo is about 19,000$ with 90-100,000KM but according to redbook it should about $17,000 for them. Do you think that redbook have under valued the car or are people asking too much? ( not taking into consideration factory extras ) Part 2 My seconed question on the topic is the car im looking at has had the Turbo core replaced due to a bent a blade. All work was carried out by http://www.gcg.com.au/ with a recipt and was fixed under warranty, Is this a common issue that poeple have with any of the turbos, or is it due to over use/thrashing of the car?
