  1. Don't know if this is going to help, but my auto turbo had a noise only when cold. hOW much fun it was trying to get it fixed, seemed like it was coming from the belts but could never be quite sure. Took in to get fixed with a few other issues and they said they couldnt find a noise. So I put up with it for a while, but it sounds like a crapped out pile of sh"t every morning until it warmed up. So I took it out to the dealer just before xmas and told them to keep it over night, the next day the service guy said he couldnt fault it, I went off my and asked to speak to the service manager, but he was in a meeting, so I called the principle at Thomson Ford Parra and spoke to him for a while he got the cogs mooving. They Looked at it that arvo and thought they found the problem (WORN BELTS) I wasnt so sure and said keep it over night and check it int the morning. I think 3 or 4 checked it the next morning and it happened again. THE FAULT .....................................................Alternator was seizing up under load......they replaced it and I never heard the noise again, they also fixed the squeeky premium brakes that were driving me and a noise on full steering lock..... Its been 2 months now and no probs, Hope this helps
  2. B) Guys I was lucky that I was referred to Thomas Ford Parramatta through a broker we supply a lot of business to, so I got a good discount. Probably the same as fleet....They then gave me a better trade on the old Crapadore VT of $3000 more than anyone else including Holden?? I enquired about paint, leather protection while the wait was on..And they put it on for nothing. I looked at Sat nav but thought that once over $60k I might as well buy a GT (went close, 77k with options) But there something about the XR6T, balance, poise and heaps of Turbo power....So in runnnning it in I thought I'd give it the best possible start to life and maybe only maybe I might put the APS 40 kw upgrade on later (after 15000klms) its good to have that option...But for now Im rapped in the machine and Know it was the right choice out of all the machines I road tested. And all the options just make a great thing even better
  3. Thanks Guys I'll post some Pics Soon....

  6. Thought I better post again, as I have been in hibernation waiting for my new machine. It wasnt that I wasnt always thinking about the day I would take delivery, its just that I was wondering if it would every arrive....Ordered Mid April. One good thing to come out of the wait was that I could read all the valuable info on this website and make changes to my order eg: upgraded to premium brakes, put the sports steer wheel on, paint and leather protection(got it for free), and with the window tint got metal on the sides and dye on the back, AND THE RUNNING IN INFO WAS INVALUABLE..So thanks guys great site and great info.Anyway what I took delivery of was: Mercury silver Turbo SSS Leather Sunroof Prem audio Sports steer wheel Tow pack Side air bags Premium brakes Power adjustable pedals 5 x 18 inch wheels Window tint 5 Way wynns pro Black label paint protection Upgraded alarm CD Wallet XR Carpert mat set Mobile phone presenter Momo sports shifter Reverse sensor Scuff plate inserts On road with Business rego $56k Picked her up 4:30 pm friday, spent couple hours out there with the paper work etc and getting shown how to operate all the controls etc...left Parramatta at 6:30, wasnt the best trip home as there were cars everywhere all heading to the city..took it nice and easy....Got all the running in info this AM together and headed down the South coast towards Canberra, (left the wife and son at home, the baby seat wasnt fitted)this gave me time to excellerate to 100-110 and coast her down to 80 or 60 and back up again, not going over 4000RPM and not loading the engine, I varied the speed and the engine REVS all along the Freeway, most people would go around when I was backing off her, but every now and then there was a D...Anyway turned off at Bowral and headed towards Nowra this was a good road for the decompression thing as it was windy and down hill a lot of theway.....This is when I it all came together, this cars in its element anywhere but on the twisty bits its like its on rails and the excelleration out of the corners is unbelievable....I was not going over 4000 RPM and she was launching out of the corners like a rocket, and that Turbo whistle mmmm  nothing else on the road could keep up, I could see a 4 wheel drive coming up behind but he soon gave up(Dont know what it is with those 4 wheel drivers they all think there in sports cars), Once she clocked over 250 klms heading back towards Sydney Id run up short bursts to still 4000 and back off, the last 50 or so klms I Coasted her home behind another Merc silver Turbo. On the freeway 120klm hr is a bit over 2000 RPM we were cruising past all the other traffic and kids in a couple of sports buses were waving as we went past....Never did that in the VT Exec wagon mmm. Anyway if your waiting you'll get your turn and as good as everyone hear tells you it is.......ITS EVEN BETTER. Great site Great info
  7. Why would you want to put a GT Wing on a XR?????The XR is a combination of power and understatement which gives it a degree of class. Sh*** I thought for a moment I was on a WRX FORUM....O
