Looking forward to clutch review mate

I made up some tie down points for the floor of my ute, will post pics when I get back home tomorrow arvo. Standard ones are handy cos adjustable but I wouldnt trust them with anything too heavy, you can see them pulling the tub liner rail away from the tub when you get really enthusiastic. No good with anything level with or lower than tub height either.

For me, reading these tuning threads is sort of like being tied up and thrown into a tank full of 18yo single malt #wayovermyheadanddrowningbutreallyenjoying it

Massive Fuel Delivery Issues - Pump Filter Likely?
camo86T replied to camo86T's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Sorted... Fuel hose again, blew off the pump outlet When I replaced it earlier on I was a bit scared to tighten up the hose clamp too much in case it cracked the plastic spigot Tightened the sh*t out of it this time Positive side, can get the tub liner in and out in record time now -

Massive Fuel Delivery Issues - Pump Filter Likely?

OK site gurus, badly need some help here again... Overtaking this arvo in 4th, all of a sudden the ute just died. No warning, no miss or cough or fart etc, jus lost all power. Was on the way somewhere and couldn't hang around, had to park it on the side of the road. Luckily had my pushy on the back and only a few kays from home. Before I left it, plugged in the xcal but no faults registered - is only xcal2 though. the way it just stopped felt like a battery lead came off, but it kicks over fine as long as you like. First thing that came into my head was fuel hose again, first thing I'll check when I get back to it. Surely clogged fuel filter would be more gradual? Welcome any help!!!! -

Fg Xr6T Mk2 Bad Fuel Consumption
camo86T replied to luke.a's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
You normally get the L/hr readout when you reset the avg economy and you're just sitting there idling - ie. you're burning fuel slowly without going anywhere so can't show km Weird that it's showing up fulltime on yours though 60km on the trip and half tank gone is extreme -
Intune Cannot believe this hasn't provoked any comment

If you're stuck and looking for another tuner then QLD guys will know best but Profile Autosports in Ormiston and Forced Perfomance in Toowoomba have a great rep on here

I assume 157 isn't a typo... that's crazy fast!! Theoretically he's got the power to match/beat the XFT F6E's time...fair call?

What organic did you replace it with?
-
Yeh I was thinking that initially Just that bjacobs was saying how he drove his mate's F6 with ceramic xtreme and wasnt too bad. Think I'll be sticking with the organic though, want to keep my sanity in M5 traffic if necessary. Doubt it was 100% at the time, even with previous 357rwkw tune it sometimes slip if on a hard 3-4 change. I'll be interested to see how it goes on the rollers with a decent clutch

Sounds serious mate...better get those mods and tune asap

Bit of an update on this thing, been too lazy to lately Short version: Got it re-tuned in May, ended up with a bit over 380 on 98 and 438 on e85 Anybody with eyes can see that there's a few lumps and bumps on the graph, and I'm aware of that but thanks anyway...actually feels pretty smooth I know the clutch is now copping a hiding, can slip make a difference to the charts? Not real hard to get it to slip in 4th on either tune Also got built tailshaft installed, had some dramas with vibration etc at higher road speeds as well as under load It's in someone else's thread somewhere on here, but tried adding 5mm to the 15mm centre bearing spacers they come with - apparently this has worked before - but no good. It was sent back to Gibsons, rebalanced and came back with...40mm long spacers. Hmm! Anyway, was re-fitted yesterday by the boys at CMS and yeah heaps better. You're still conscious of what's happening back there, little bit of noise under load but huge improvement, thanks guys. I did find out that autos keep their rubber drive coupler when fitting a built tailshaft, while manuals get it taken out, which is possibly why others with autos and a built tailshaft say they can't feel much if any difference. Way more confidence knowing that there's something solid back there now, most driveline slop gone and hard 3-4 shifts no longer feel like something is gonna sh*t itself...apart from the clutch lol Old and new This morning started work around 4am, took the private road route...running e85 right now so had a quick 3-4 hit...fair amount of clutch slip when hitting 4th but could be worse The street lights were video-shopped in for effect https://vimeo.com/134872929?utm_source=email&utm_medium=clip-transcode_complete-finished-20120100&utm_campaign=7701&email_id=Y2xpcF90cmFuc2NvZGVkfDFlZTU2ZjViMGI0ZjdhZGRmNzk1MGUyZjNlOGNlNThhNTkzfDQyNDQ5ODU4fDE0MzgxOTkyODF8NzcwMQ%3D%3D Next step is to get the clutch upgraded sometime, the Mantic twin plate is hanging in there but only just. Was looking at the xtreme twin plate organic, for the price it's hard to go past. Scott from Western Clutch in St Marys was recommended by NPC as their installer around this way and heard many other good things about him - he built and installed the clutch in Brett Luland's crazy GT, so in good hands there. He has priced me to supply and test the xtreme twin plate kit and ARP bolts, balance flywheel and do the install for $2250 - I can't go past that But now bjacobs has sort of got me thinking about the ceramic twin plate xtreme option which will definitely take more abuse...decisions.. Can a mod please move this thread to the 400 section?

Yep stock shaft feels like somethings's about to drop it's guts on a hard 2-3 or 3-4 change Funny thing is, met vevapower in at CMS the other day, day after he ran 9.86, think he's running about 560rwkw and he's still on stock CV's...!!! Shaft itself got re-tubed in chromoly ages ago but that's it Fact it's it's an auto would make a big difference though I reckon...sedan as well Considering the ceramic now ay lol.... I'm no NVH princess and can handle a bitchy clutch if it can handle abuse lol though prob never venture into the CBD ever again Oil pump gears is scary stuff though
-
sh*t that's no good What power level was he at? When you say HD you mean heavy duty I take it... which they use to describe both organic and ceramic, totally different materials Ceramic will take more abuse, whereas organic has better street manners Can you ask him which one he had? If he had the ceramic and you reckon it wasn't that bad I'd be tempted...since can take abuse and of course a bit cheaper

Tbh apart from the fact the driveline was starting to feel a bit sloppy, didn't have any until I got a Gibson built shaft installed, which was more preventative maintenance than anything else The Gibson shaft felt great as far as being more direct and no slop, issue was that it was vibrating like a bitch under load and also at higher road speeds regardless of load I played around with different height centre bearing spacers +5 - -5mm which CMS had used to make them work before but no go CMS ended up sending it back to Gibson, apparently it's been sorted now and spacers needed they've decided it needs are another 20mm longer than supplied....hmmm! So we'll see this week hopefully, driving around with the stock shaft atm
-
Not yet but will be getting Western Clutch at St Marys to fit one in my ute after I get tailshaft issues sorted. Twin plate organic that is It's not the top shelf option out there - think NPC etc - but is a helluva lot cheaper and heard some good things about it on this forum and elsewhere See end of the second page of thread below http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/90239-twin-plate-or-single-plate-clutch/ Maybe not as refined as some but we'll soon see

Definitely going to be having a chat Would've done yesterday arvo when I got home but thought better to think it over rather than likely say/do something I might regret My brother is pro-violence and suggested that if he was to be put in a wheelchair then he wouldn't have to reverse, got images in my head and made me lmao Yeah what sorta pissed me off was the drivel in the letter, if he asked then I would've been more than happy to park further round/elsewhere Apart from the fact I had stereotyped him in my head as a bludger who could easy get some sort of job, he seemed a decent enough guy Don't think I could play hurt without laughing though nhasp...not that good an actor
