  1. yes I will have to get me some et streets for when I run the ute at willowbank. mine is a tonne rated ute so for the road I am restricted to 215 60 16 . have not driven the ute with the turbo engine ,only with the v8 I am tacking out at the moment . so that will be interesting
  2. I found when I fitted these load plus spring helpers I could dial out steering response the more I tightened them up .it does lift the rear end up a bit but not a lot ,about 10 mm . it makes the rear end stiffer and more bouncy but gives the rear end more grip due to loosing some of the steering sensitivity .they only cost $120 .the rear leafs I have are john bow specials ,super lows (brand new )and work a hell of a lot better than the stock ones (they were on special for $180 of e bay from a guy that was to slack to fit them up ) . I also have no spring pads ,my original ones did not have any from factory (ba one tonne ) .your problem may be the bolt that holds the springs together ,which also acts as the locator for the diff . if so the springs would separate and move around (forwards and back ) ps I am no mechanic only a glazier that works on cars for fun
  3. can anyone recommend them .just had a talk to them ,and liked what they had to say .but I would like to know if they are as good as they claim they are .I already have a sct flash tune that he would not use at all .he said he would just use my original computer and re program it to suit (apparently better than the sct flash) I can still have two tunes as I have a turbosmart electronic boost controller .so for the street I will have a light tune and for the strip all they can get out of it without the rods letting go . so can I here some comment about the standard computer v sct . ps someone said that they can not adjust the gear change (harder and faster ) on the btr gearbox on a standard computer but on a sct they can (just got the btr rebuild with au parts and pump and solenoids ) thanks for any info
  4. lol. he will be ok, he thinks he is a Rottweiler .and I have scars to prove it .he looks cute but far is from that . and yes there are a lot of people out there (received lots of pm )
  5. that's not bad at all ,how was the traction of the line .what tyres did you use ? I have about the same kw ,just a bit less 330 plus when I get the ute back together
  6. sounds like the bushes to me ,had similar experience with my ute and I replaced them all with nolathane ones .the only draw back is ,its so rough to ride in after I installed them . can see if they are stuffed by moving them with a crow bar
  7. thanks for that info mate .bugger thought it could do that .I will let elite work it out I think ,may give them a call to se if I should fit the boost controller or not .
  8. I have a sct flash tuned by elite .so using the 12 psi actuator I can not go bellow that setting ?and yes I will get a retune done ,have done a lot of mods to ute so tune will be wrong . can I change the spring inside actuator to suit both 7 psi to 15 psi ?just thought it would be better to go a bit higher with the spring, have larger flapper mod done and a performance wheel fitted to standard housing (ba turbo). so do I really need a electronic boost controller ,thought they would be better to change boost on the go .hate to wait 15 min for sct to load up for the drag tune.also thought that the boost controller can keep boost more even ,no spikes or drops in boost .just started fitting up the boost controller but still trying to find the rpm wire from the car .
  9. hi ,I bought a 12 psi turbosmart actuator and a turbosmart electronic boost controller (e street only ) so is it possible just to run 6 psi on one of the settings for street use ? can the boost controller do that ? just do not know if that could work . the only reason I ask ,if my misses drives the ute she just would sh*t her pants when boost is that high .my ute has about 330 plus rwkw .thanks for your replies .
  10. yes mate all good racing car drivers have that skill .
  11. farmer sells cow to butcher ,you buy the meat of the butcher .where are you going to take the complaint to if the meet was no good .the butcher ,not the farmer .the farmer did not sell the meat to you but the butcher did .
  12. I was comparing it against standard xr6 components. obviously it will never be a go cart ,it sits higher, it is bigger, its a ute to transport your friends couch ,and it has a roof over your head so you do not get your hair out of shape or wet . most of us grown ups would drive a car on the road like it is intended to be, and on a track it will never keep up to a v8 supper car but I can certainly try .being a ute I already got a aluminium roll bar on my tray that will surly save me in a roll over . would have loved to have driven your wrx sounded like it would have been a well handling car .must have been hard for you to jump into a rear wheel drive car that needs a skilled driver to be driven the same way as your wrx , to keep up with it
  13. I have all new suspension rear leafs the lot and nolothane bushes the thing is like a go cart . there is hardly any body roll now at all.where you point it that's were it goes ,very easy to control in a skid .maybe not when I finely have the turbo engine in there .it also has camber and caster kits .so I will use as much caster as I can to dial out some of the steering input (more like a drag car with skinny tyres ) that makes it easier to catch a car that is side ways . there are lots of little things that can help .rear sway bars . etc . standard suspension feels just like a sponge compared to my set up .going to also get some traction rods (so I can dial in more traction by altering the angle of the diff ). but the down fall will always be the 215 wide tyres . but if I can get it all dialled in to stay straight while it is doing a skid ,then there is no problem .
  14. lucky I know how to drive ,and handle a car ,its called throttle control.used to race on road and of road (of road only when I lost control from the road and ended up on the grass ).I will only have a race tune on the track .I am not jung(but stupid) and do not have to show of everywhere I go (been there done that ) but on the track I can run the mickey Thompson et streets and that's were I will use all the killer wasps I got under the bonnet . street racing is not my thing anyway ,I love my license to much . the v8 that was in it had about 200 rwkw ,and it was not even scary in the wet .about twenty years ago I got some cold retreads done for my Late model camira that ran 12 second passes at willowbank (slick tyres ) soft compound .I used brand new tyres and they turned them down to fit the retreads onto them . there were a few people using them .there was never any problems with them .was thinking of getting some semi slicks made out of one tonne rated casings .if they are done correctly they are great tyres . we are all restricted to 110 kph so retreads are not a problem only if you buy budget ones and do not use new casings .the best thing is I can chose the compound that suits me best ,soft, medium ,hard .so I might have to look into finding a tyre shop that does that sort of work (ps I only travel about 8000 klm a year ) its only a toy ,to have fun in .I love skid cops ,traction is for people that are straight and boring . I know this is just going to be insane to drive ,going to sh*t my pants that's for sure . but at least I know how a 1000 hp cars feel like to drive with only 1/4 of the hp . there is also a easy way to add traction ,add sand bags till it feels good .its a ute .but the reality is yes it was stupid to do it to a one tonne ute with a live axel ,what was I thinking of at the time just can not help my self .thought I would have grown up at age 44, but no still walking around in dippers (may have to keep a box in the ute for passengers ,and my self ) who wants to be the first passenger ?
  15. just building a sleeper ute . doing a engine swap from 3v v8 to turbo 6 .out of a wreck 330 plus rwkw sedan .and I am a bit scared that I will not get traction at all .I am restricted to 215 60 16 c tyres its a one tone ba xt falcon ute .I can only use light truck tyres by law .was trying to get a mod plate to fit 17 inch but it can not be done .bugger .at the track I will use et street tyres .ute has a 3.7 truetrack diff which is absolute great fun . has a fully rebuild btr with au parts . the thing that may help is I got a electronic e street boost controller so I might run a low boost for the street .
  16. words gets around fast lol I am( gunna) get him one day.so will all the people that have been done before me .karma ,may be slow but it gets there in the end (bugger hope I will not be banned to post ) have lots more car stuff to ask
  17. hi I wish I could fit bigger tyres than my 215 60 16 c rated (ba xt one tonne ute )restricted to run load rated tyres .currently swapping over from 3v v8 to turbo 6 (330 plus rwkw ) with a truetrack locker and 3.7 diff gears, now that will be a hand full in the wet and dry
  18. hi to all ,and yes its not a xr6 ute body but only a xt one tonne ute .just building a sleeper so the cops do not hassle me all the time .I bought a wrecked turbo sedan last February and have started to swap parts over .elite have done some mods to it (330 rwkw) I have got the btr rebuild with some au parts but left the stall standard .got the turbo rebuild and a performance wheel fitted as well .so then I got the flapper modified and that's when I hit a big wall .waited 6 weeks for parts ,only got them when I was going to take him to far trade .but now the flapper is leaking (about .5 mm of the wastegate .can not mention name (but he knows who I am )I also have got a turbosmart actuator ,electronic boost controller e street ,tecnico engine mounts ,new radiator ,turbosmart bov 36 mm,earles oil line kit ,hot side pipping to intercooler (I have a nizpro cooler ).I have also got a true track diff with 3.7 dana gears (absolute love the diff )it has a near new paint job ,ute only had 47000 klm on the clock when I bought it two years ago (do not ask but engine transmission and diff were stuffed)bought it of a ford dealer where I life.so what I would like to know is where do you guys get your parts from (just do not want to get shafted again )this ute has cost me a fortune and it still is only a xt ,so just go easy on me please with the pay outs the last photo is the turbo housing the turbo shop send me .this would just have way to much lag if I would have fitted it to my ute
  19. 2 years ago I bought a v3 v8 xt one tonne ute with 47000 klm on the clock .bought it to fit a supercharger to it ,but not long after owning it found out engine was stuffed.so after lots of reading decided to go for a turbo instead .I have just bought a ba xr 6 turbo wreck with 108000 klm on the clock ,about 12 month 35000 klm ago elite have done some work to it .nizpro cooler, nizpro air box nizpro valve springs.walbro 500 fuel pump bigger injectors .plus a tune .it makes 327 rwkw and 760 nm it ran a 12.355 at willowbank .it has a 4 speed box .now I have a lot of work ahead of me to fit all this to my ute can anyone tell me what I got to look out for thanks .I have got a 3.9 ratio diff with a true track locker what size stall to suit this set up ?peak torke is at 2700 rpm so a 2600 rpm -2700 rpm stall would be best ?
