  1. if you go into the xr 6 turbo forum there is all the info you will need to start of with .its a good start mate .I am still doing my conversion from v8 to turbo 6 5 month and counting ,just about there . also if you have a look at the 300 club ,and read all the mods they have done to get it there may help you .
  2. lol, I said to my girlfriend ,this will only take 2 weeks and the ute will be back on the road .its now 5 month and counting . the aluminium tray is still in the lounge room (in pieces due to powdercoating ) still waiting for some parts that were getting redone .
  3. tomorrow getting the tail shaft made at farrows shafting at nambour .when he asked me does it have to be a twin shaft ,because he believes he can make a single shaft just as strong .he said most high performance cars have single ,like xy falcons and hq .do not know which way to go now twin or single ? I would rather have the twin but then there are more parts to ware out .centre bering etc .and the single shaft has only universals .but is it as strong
  4. bugger ,I had the dash out of the car but was unable to find where it was leaking from .. it just trips on my foot when I go around corners ,and the water is ice cold. lol .
  5. when I had the dash out I sprayed everything with glen20 ,all the vents and fan .
  6. the speedo reads true speed ,had the gps in the car I have it booked in at redcliffe dyno for Wednesday next week .they can sort out all the hard stuff .lol but when it did hit 23 psi it felt like a rocket launching .just about felt like hitting the driver in the head ,he did get a blasting .
  7. thanks mate ,but thank god it all works .the brakes are awesome for just standard items .the abs for the first time actually stops the car fast ,and the traction control works too .the hand brake is good too .I said to the guy that took it for a test drive watch the boost .as he tried out the traction control I shouted stop ,but it was to late the boost was at 23 psi (at about 3000 rpm ) he backed of fast but sh*t I have a 7 psi turbosmart actuator .why did the actuator not open ? could that have done damage to the engine . I have checked the oil there is no milk shake ,and no rattles or weird noises
  8. thanks mate ,I will se if it works today .going to go there at 8 am to get it all hooked up .wish me luck
  9. gave the ute a little run around caloundra ,and the ute handles so much better with the turbo 6 than the v8 .there is no argument the 6 is way better ,lighter steering and it feels more balanced .the steering is sharper and it changes directions with ease ,where before it felt like a boat rocking side to side . the reason I took it for a drive is so that the brake place could have a look at the abs module and the hard lines .so I could book it in to get them custom made to suit the ute .they are going to also bleed the brakes as well and change the fluids .hope they get it to work
  10. have you looked at your air con filter behind the clove box (take clove box out and its in behind there ) I had the same problem ,leafs started to rot and gave of a bad smell
  11. so if I turn mine into 4 lines (including traction control ) that would make mine illegal ?
  12. have tried every wrecker on the sunshine coast and brisbane and gold coast .no one got any with traction control .so then I tried ford but they do not know which line I would need ,so they send me pictures over e mail . there are to many lines to chose from .I have got a brake place to make one up for me tomorrow .they are also going to change over the abs block and flush the brakes and then bleed the system .that saves me towing it to a garage .will cost me about $350 -$400
  13. anyone near caloundra that I could have a look how the traction control lines run on a ute . please give me a pm thanks .even in brisbane is ok .thanks
  14. my v8 averaged 16 + litres per 100 klm highway or city .and it was very slow . do not forget they are a heavy family car .on the highway it will drop for sure
  15. I was lucky I did it while the engine was out (ba ) .jake a mate of mine did his fg in about 4 hours .remove air box piping etc
  16. hi to all ,who will turn up to qld powercruise this year ,I will be there if the ute is going .have payed for my entry and camping fees about a month ago
  17. thanks mate but now that you said you used aluminium ,I will do the same (I am a glazier that works day in day out with aluminium ) just totally forgot to make up some to keep that turbo side cool .thanks again for the offer to make me some .that's what makes this forum great .
  18. wish you best of luck finding the problem .but it does sound like a vacuum leak
