  1. no its definitely not a off the shelf grind. It is a built motor. with gtx3582. I figured with the vernier gears it could be adjusted to shift the powerband back a little. it worries me having to push these motors past 6500. Car is a manual t56. I know these cams would be suited for a full race car with a decent size turbo but as I mentioned, they are sitting there waiting to be used..
  2. yep. I purchased the crow race valve spring set. cheers.
  3. I dont care for the sound. Nor do I care if the car is a pain to drive. this is not an everyday car so it doesnt bother mme. I need to remove the head anyway and I have the cams ready to go. From reading a few threads I concluded that some good gains are attainable if changing cams but my only concern was if there was any issue with installing a cam with that much lift. Was there any more work needed to be done to the head.
  4. Any engine experts out there?
  5. Hi my car is a ba 385kw on 19psi its time for me to replace my valve springs. they are really soft. Anyway I was wanting to change my head gasket too. Considering that I have to remove the head I thought I would change the cams to something a bit larger. I dont drive the car alot so fuel consumption isnt a worry. I found a set of crow cams off ebay. Though I didnt really know what type until I sent the number on each cam to crow. it turns out they are as follows. 241/241 .530/.530 lift 112L/C I know I would need vernier gears but I want to know would these cams require any other modifications to the head..? I havent seen a cam with this much lift for the dohc prior to this so im not sure. I know I will need a tune and the tuner will despise me for getting the vernier gears but they didnt cost that much and I dont drive the car much. Like mentioned I thought I would change them out now instead of later. let me know your opinions. cheers.
  6. Some of you folks must have experience with them. Please share. Would a half grouted block and girdle be sufficient for 600rwkw?
  7. I would like to ask. At what power level would billet main caps be necessary..? If at all... Be interested in hearing from those who have them..cheers
  8. How many kw were you making with the 12mm studs..?
  9. Thanks for the Information People
  10. Hello I have been trying to research this question but cant get a definitive response so... I am wanting to make 550rwkw to 600 on my ba. at the moment its has 375rwkw with forged bottom. I cant recall where I saw it but there was a thread on another site regarding issues with head lifting even with the 12mm studs so naturally people went with the atomic 14mm studs. I am wanting to know is there a point either psi or kw where the 12mm studs wont suffice..? I know there was a issue a few years back where it was occuring alot but then the tuners figured it out. Basically I want to know if its necessary to go to 14mm or 9/16" for the power I am wanting. I also recall that the atomic 14mm studs were not made by arp. There was a 9/16"arp head stud set from another car that could be used but I dont recall the make. If anyone has any details or experience I would appreciate it..I need as much information as I can get. cheers.
  11. Hi kosij I chatted to you on the the phone a while back and acquired some good knowledge. cheers.what power were you running in the 4 speed and what power you running now to get that 10 sec pass.
  12. I am seriously considering doing a three speed conversion to my ba. I am pushing high 300kw and would like to go higher. So I have a t56 at the moment but was considering going the 4 speed auto for dragg. My issue is that I have heard that in this power range even a built 4 speed is a bit of a crapshoot. So thought of doing a 3 speed conversion. either c4, c6 or t400. These transmissions are reliable which is what I want. What I want to know is. Did your 1/4 time improve with the conversion? With a previous manual it would but what about the zf out of interest. What mods does your box have. eg what stall, fmvb or rmvb, transbrake etc.How does your shifter sit in the console, Is it after market or standard?Im just trying see what everybody setups are and opinions on the conversion. Im interested to hear how the 3 speeds go behind the straight sixes. cheers
  13. Would somebody who has done the conversion be able to give a quick list of parts needed and what needs to be done to suit. Was considering doing this and want to make sure I dont forget anything. cheers.
  14. I got the car from sa. Drove from melbourrne with trailer. Test drove the car and it seemed good. When I got the car back had another drive and all of a sudden white smog was exiting the back. This is a pic of solenoid.
  15. I am in the process of assembling my turbo system together after it ficked it self no more than 4km after purchasing the car. I have installed all the hoses except the boost solenoid ones. When I was removing the parts I forgot to take a photo of where the hoses go. I looked and looked and couldn't find a pic. My solenoid has 3 barbs. One goes up, the other goes out and the other down. Im sure one outlet goes to housing and the other goes to actuator. What hose go's where and why is there an additional barb.
