  1. As I stated above... I am not against reform in IR. But I am interested in why the government is ramming the changes through the Senate with their majority whilst stifiling any genuine debate on the subject. So then what you left is an extrememly well presented campaign presented on behalf of the union and government being made to look like it is making it up as it goes... I remember listening to interviews by the government workplace relations minister and under questioning he couldn't even adequately explain the reasoning behind the need for such drastic changes to IR only being able to harp on the point of unfair dismissal... and around the same time that this was launched by the government on talkback radio (3AW in Melbourne) you had plenty of small business people ringing in and basically they are only after one major change to IR and that is to the unfair dismissal laws, and I agree with them. Unfair dismissal laws are weighted far too heavily in the favour of the worker and they need to be amended but there is no reason to throw out the baby with the bath water... Are you happy to give away your public holidays? I know I sure aren't... I'm a typical Australian when it comes to anyone in authority and by that I mean I am wary of them... I don't appreciate being patted on the head and told not to worry... and that is what it feels like the government is doing. Jack
  2. I am a member of a union (TWU) and I am not against reform... I want reform. Federal Labour even speak of reform. But the reforms that the current Liberal government is ramming through the upper and lower house are too extreme, too heavily weighted in the favour of business. We need to even out the power held between business and it's workers... we all need to work out that without each other we both wouldn't be here... There must be a happy medium for us all to share. Everyone deserves to have a job, it is the most valuable thing we will ever have with regard to creating opportunity in our life, but in saying that we also need to have fair reward for time given/spent at that job. It is a delicate balancing act, but it is one we must get right... and I don't think the current IR reforms will create that much needed level playing field... A LOT MORE consultation is required, rather than idealists (capitalists vs socialists) from either side making sweeping changes without consultation... unions need to moderate their demands on business and on the other hand business needs to moderate it's demands on it's workers time. As a really smart person once said all things are good in moderation... Remember John Howard says that he has a mandate to make these massive changes to our very lives because we voted the Liberal party in to office... but what he and the Liberal party have to remember is that 49% percent of Australians did not vote for him... govern for all fairly. Australians by nature aren't extremists, we have never had to be, so we don't appreciate when we see a person in a postion of power attempt to create and write in to legislature extreme views... these changes he wants would never have been able to happen if the Libereal government hadn't gotten control of the Senate... These changes illustrate the worth of a fairly proportioned and properly functioning Senate or Upper House of government. And the need for the balance of power to held by a group other than the ruling government of the day. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'm also interested to see what others think on this topic as well... The area of our lives where we need overhaul is taxation... surely when a government has budgeted for a 13 billion dollar (that is 13 thousand million dollars!?!?!?!?) surplus they are collecting too much money?!? Give it back to us as tax cuts or give it back to us as services... I don't mind paying tax when I can see it being used constructively, but when I see it just being collected for the sake of it then this annoys me... and many others I would suggest... anyway that's off topic. Jack
  3. Hey... Just turned it on... will listen for a little while, why not eh. On the last day of my holidays and am bored of the TV so could be interesting. Cheers will be fun listening to the jacks run around after their own tails Jack
  4. Nah... Overhaulin' is a different show all together, the one and only episode that I caught they tricked a guy with a Camaro that his pride and joy (though trashy as it was) had been stolen and then low and behold he turns up to this random warehouse for a TV commercial shoot with his wife and there is this immaculate Camaro same shape as his and he is all over it while still not knowing that it actually his old car... anyway they end up telling him and he just starts hugging everyone and stuff and he gets to keep it. Very cool idea. Jack Chip Foose is a legend!!!
  5. Ahh... That make sense then. The big bloke is Will I think and yeah he has some interesting communication skills... shout at someone till you get your way. What are you doin over in the US mate? It'd be getting really cold over there now yeah? Jack
  6. Cheers mate... I just quessed they were brothers because of the way they were arguing with each other... and if not brothers at least family of some description... I've seen Overhaulin' only once and was most impressed by the kind of show it was but have never seen it since. It was on the Discovery Channel the day I saw it. Is there nothing that Chip Foose can't do? He's brilliant Cheers Jack
  7. Just some more info on this show... It follows the US workshop Unique Autosport who mod Bentley's, Corvette's and stuff like that, though they are also doing a 60's Lincoln Continental for Marcus Camby of the Denver Nuggets and NBA fame... has a bit of the American Chopper feel too, because there is interviews with the people in it and some conflict between a couple of brothers... Check their website here Catch Jack
  8. Hey everyone... For those that are already watching Top Gear on BBC World, 5th Gear on Lifestyle channel and Rides on Discovery channel, and Ride with Funk Master Flex on Channel V there is a new show just started this week... It's called 'Unique Whips' and it's on right now 11.30am-12.30pm on the 'How To Channel' on Foxtel Digital. I think this is a repeat from last night though as I think it was on at 8.30pm-9.30pm... Hope it's good, by the look of it, it's similar to Rides so that can only be a good thing... Jack
  9. If you don't get any joy from Ford or from the council try and alloy wheel repairer... like Advanced Alloy Wheel Repairs in Moorabbin. I hear they are very good and may be able to re-roll it for you... Good Luck... With my 20's now I'm really scared of driveways and pot holes... Jack

  16. D'oh Will be good to see them if you can manage to get them up... Good luck mate Jack Edit- They are working... NICE
  17. Cheers mate Yeah, mine had a heaps of play and felt really 'vague' in the shift and in the quality of the shift... As I had never driven another manual ford in my life other than my own I thought it was normal... but it isn't, I tell you now the change it has made to the 'feel' of the shift is brilliant, more direct and far more postive. Catch Jack
  18. Looking good Rob... Tuff as Seen it a few times out on the road and it certainly has presence... Jack
  19. Hey... For those that are interested, my car was given to Knox Ford on Monday 12th (first day of my holidays from work) and told service manager what the problem was, they had my car all day. They ended up pulling out the gearbox and replacing the shifter block. Seems to have fixed the problem which is excellent and but it has also made the shift feel heaps tighter as well which once again is heaps better than it was all at no cost to me! Never had a car with a factory warranty so that was nice... Cheers Jack
  20. I'm a Mexican... so not from NSW but hope you enjoy your new purchase... I know I am... ps... nice new photo in your sig mrturbo... Jack
  21. Hey... I had mine done by Matt today, thanks aumatt!! Looks excellent... would recommend the mod to anyone who is thinking of doing it. Jack
  22. Yeah... I reckon about 4 or 5 days after I picked up the car from where I bought it from... as I said it happens very infrequently, if I am intentionally gentle changing in to 5th then as a rule there is no crunch... but then at other times as stated above it cruches... I have the car booked in on the 12th at a dealer for them to have a look at so we will see what the go is there... wish I had known of this site before I bought my car... I wouldn't have bought a 5speed... Jack
