  1. No worries TRA1NR... honestly it's a right laugh the way it sits right now. Add another 3 or 4psi and slightly more aggressive tune. This car could be anything. As it stands right now, the tune has boost come in fairly easily, it's not a mad hit it up tune. With plenty of heat soak the car hardly wheelspins in 2nd, just powers down like a mad man. 3rd... don't even ask. Jack
  2. I thought I'd give a few impressions of my car now that I've had it 'unlimited' for a few days. I can live with this car quite comfortably. Very easily infact. To be completely honest, it's an absolute wolf in sheeps clothing. Initial objective has been surpassed So easy to drive, just head out and keep it under 1800rpm and it's Dr Jekyl one mintue. Just forget about 1st as a 'fast' useable gear... be VERY careful in 2nd on boost, power down, it's an off it's nut knife wielding crazy man Mr Hyde the next. I read people selling their car and in the ad it says not for the faint hearted. This car as it stands is not for the faint of heart perfect daily driver! Still on a 'soft' tune... I have a close friend who has a very low 12 sec R32 GTR. I took him for a quick drive last night. He got out shaking, couldn't believe my car is what it is. His words, not mine... 'This would absolutely hose my GTR.' 2WD Falcon family sedan vs 2 door, 4WD, 4WS twin turbo straight 6. He is selling his GTR, as it's not big enough for the family now... 1 on the ground and 1 on the way. He said the Falcon is now starting to be looked at in a new light The Di Filippo (Di Filippino in Tex speak ) is loud, but can quite easily be 'driven' around. I am now driving everywhere in Performane Mode. No problem... it makes me feel like a man as I now manually shift each gear basically I just short shift each gear, even earlier than the auto would change just cruising around if I was in Drive. Driving like this the exhaust is more than bearable. Quite nice actually, it has a beautiful note when driven like this. I'm still not sure what my neighbours think of it at 4.50am each morning on initial start up as it's got quite a bark to it straight off the bat. They haven't left an angry note in my letter box yet so I assume all is well in their world The Harrop TrueTrac. Every performance car should come with one. It is just that simple. Powers down in such a ridiculously predictable way it should be standard equipment. Yeah it has a very slight whine, this is with me all windows open, radio off and looking for noise down hill in a high gear and no throttle input. If you want a 600hp daily driver then this is hardly a trade off. So far I have done just on 800kms with all the mods done. 800 brilliant kms. Even with the first near couple of hundred kms done with a 3k rev limit. It should actually be mandatory for someone who has done what I have done in one hit so you actually leave the car alone and don't be a knob straight out of the tuners driveway and learn to respect the car and know it can be driven off boost, nice and easy. Brakes wise, I have used DBA4000 slotted rotors with Bendix Ultimate pads. They work. And they work well. Jeez the Ultimates throw some dust, of course on the front but even on the rears. I knew they would, I was warned about it. So it isn't like I wasn't expecting it. Theo has already put me on to a very similar pad from Race Brakes Melbourne that is just as effective but far less dusty I am told. I might be heading in this direction. Not sure I want to have to clean the wheels every couple of days, I do very little stop start driving as well! So here I sit. Finding excuses to try and get up to the 1000kms so the BPR boys can really let my car sing it's finest tune. Bar having a turbo side air intake the car as it stands right now, I wouldn't change a thing. Not one. If you have an FG G6E Turbo, or FG XR6 Turbo and have any inkling that you'll want anything near 400rwkw then get a GTX 35/82R and support it sufficiently and you'll be reading this and agreeing with me. Jack
  3. @ Dillz I think it's because the car has been slightly lowered in the second pic. And thanks for the comments lads, most people won't look twice but get up on it and it's a right laugh watching people on the footpath get a fright... lol
  4. It is... never thought I'd end up here! Kind of wanted to though haha... The question of a sleeper... I disagree. As the car stood over 3 years ago when I bought it... Now as the car stands now... For me the biggest difference is in the 1st pic I haven't added tint yet. Jack
  5. Worm I like all the things you wrote there... problem is the last bit. I'm not used to dropping skids from a stand still to warm tyres. 80kph roll ons... all good haha... It certainly has the potential for it I think. My housemate came out in my car today and he's been around a fair few 10/11 sec rotaries, he's a rotary guy. Thinks mine as it stand is the quickest street car he's been in lol... don't think it's that fast. Yet. Jack
  6. With enough boost it might get there. What I'm now starting to warm to is maybe running a 10 sec 1/4 in the car! Daily driver... running 10's. Has a fairly nice ring to it Jack
  7. Turbo side has been ordered I believe When the 1000kms is up it will go in for the final tune and fitting the airbox/battery relocation kit. Plazmaman kit. To match the rest of the parts on the car. Jack
  8. The limiter has been lifted... This car is just off it's f'ing nut The smile and dumb, almost uncontrolable laugh when boosting it up is there! Just what I wanted! I am literally sitting here chuckling to myself as I type this... Mission objective is almost complete it sounds like it's going to suck in a pedestrian straight off the footpath! No wonder they put a limiter on it to start with! It's still running the 2 pull, safe run in tune until the 1000kms are up. Not long to go now. God only knows what another couple of psi, more timing and a proper tune are going to be like! haha The TrueTrac is exactly that. Doesn't step sideways, just goes like an absolute rocket dead straight. Crazy good. BPR you have outdone yourselves!
  9. Alright Bit of an update. Woke up this morning to a message from Theo about putting some more kms on the car... I put on my overalls, flannel shirt, work boots, banjo and grabbed a tooth pick, shoved it in the corner of my mouth and took my housemate and Theo from BPR up to Heathcote for the Mud Drags Put nearly 300kms on the car We are over the 500km mark now, it will nearly be 600km by the time the car goes back to BPR tomorrow after I finish work, and the imposed 3k rpm limit will be removed, it's a 10 minute job. Sweet!!! No more getting beatup by Kia Rio's or Hyundai i30 diesels The tune will be left alone for now. Just the limit removed. It will give me a bit more freedom with the car which will certainly be nice. We took quite a few nice country B roads on the way home (to try and add just that few more kms) and it is actually quite difficult to drive the car with only 3k to work with on these roads. Relying heaps on brakes downhill rather than good engine braking etc. In the following 500kms I need to decide whether I go the turbo side intake and battery relocation or not. Either way the car will head back to BPR after the 1000kms are up and a daily tune with 17 or 18 psi will go in the car. Hmmm... got some thinking to do. In no way are BPR pushing the turbo side intake on me, if anything it's the other way, just enjoy the car for what it is and then decide. What I actually know is, it will provide first and foremost drivability gains on the road that a dyno printout cannot register. Yeah it will make more power with this mod too but I am looking moreso at the driveability. I see it as turning a great package already. In to a brilliant one. Anyone here running a turbo side intake on an FG have anything they would like to add then I am all ears Jack
  10. I've put in a query to Theo about turbo side, waiting to hear back and Mex its limited to 3k in the tune. Jack
  11. It actually isn't that bad Mark, the car has excellent off boost driveability In saying that though another 3000rpm wouldn't go astray either lol Jack
  12. Thanks for that info Johnny. I had a good read through your thread... wow. Plenty of time and money put in mate! We'll see how mine develops over time, I can't really see a GT42 or similar in it. This car is a daily and will stay a daily too. So driveability is paramount to me so is keeping the ZF auto. Late 300's will be plenty mate. Bluepower in Campbellfield are doing all the work. Good luck with your car! Jack
  13. Haha yeah... if you gave me one I'd take it off roading. That's how much I love the X-Trail... brand new too but wow... such a chicks car. Jack
  14. It's all good Mark! Just like having it back mate. I'd prefer to drive my car with a GTX and all the stuff on it limited to 3000rpm than driving the Nissan X-Trail haha. Sad but true! Jack
  15. The Di FIlippo was $2200 fitted. Single 3.5" with 1 cat and 2 mufflers that if sound is anything to go by do bugger all to quieten it down haha... It's essentially a series of straight pipes and straight through mufflers with 2 tips at the end. Jack
  16. Ah, no worries! I saw one up very close today. The welds are just immaculate. A beautiful piece of metal Mark! It was attached to an FG F6 with the same mods as my car including the Di Filippo bar the GTX... that'll haul ass when done! Not far away from what you have there. Very, very quick car! Jack
  17. As far as I know it comes as a complete kit. What piping are you running on your car? From a fit and finish point of view it is excellent. It married up to the PWR intercooler no problems. From intercooler to throttlebody, I have the larger of the 2 versions done by Plazmaman. It won't fit around an XR8 airbox snorkel. With 'enough work' it'll fit around the factory snorkel. I haven't seen an SS Growler intake in person so can't give you an honest answer mate. With the BPR intake, as it deletes any kind of snorkel it is an easy fit. There isn't much room there when you have 3 different kinds of piping/hoses all in the same place. Radiator, snorkel for intake and piping for the turbo. Jack
  18. Basically yes it could run 400rwkw+ with enough boost in it. That kind of stuff would be in the domain of a built motor though. Not for now. Theo did tell me with a manual in it right now it would be close to 390rwkw, with 385rwkw in mine it would be over 400rwkw in a manual. He also said, don't worry about that as with the auto it'll leave the manual for dead anyway haha I've put a pic of the tips above here but the car is on the hoist at BPR. I can if you wanted head out to the garage and put up a pic of the car on the ground. Chees MiKa! The BPR boys were quite suprised at how much the PWR cooler has flowed for starters but how well it's done too. Would a super thick, cut up your car cooler work better? Yeah more than likely. I am not and will not cut this car up to fit an intercooler. Just don't want to. Jack
  19. Haha... what the F have I done Ok first things first. Being a brand new diff but using my existing gears the boys ran the car up twice. They didn't want to go any further with the car right now because of the diff. Load a base tune and the car ran up 359rwkw. One more run and the car now sits with 365rwkw at 15.5psi. It is described to me as being a very soft tune and the car is doing it easy! what the hell is a good tune and slightly more boost going to do? I've been told by Chris with it throughly heatsoaked and basically been run back to back a number of times I can expect around 375rwkw and run up from cold with 17psi in the car it should be in the vicinity of 385rwkw and 'be doing it easy'... this is with stock valve springs too. Completely uncracked engine. Chris has imposed a 3000rpm rev limit in the tune for the next 1000kms and then a complete tune will be performed when it safe to run the diff at extended high RPM and high load. Immediately the first thing I have noticed is that the Di Filippo is fairly loud. Not completely annoying, I want to cut my wrists loud but it certainly has plenty of presence. The black tips on the exhaust are awesome. Stealth look to them, not too big but if you know what you are looking for then you you'll know What I felt was fairly lazy response from the GTX with the factory exhaust at light throttle input has now changed a fair bit. It is starting to build boost quite nicely and noticabley by 2500RPM now, of course with the rev limit the 'fun' is over very quickly but immediately the response has improved markedly. What else? Not sure... is the 1000kms over yet? Jack
  20. Small update... Everything is back in and exhaust has been fitted. Base tune loaded and 1st pull made 359rwkw. I'm off to go and pick it up now! Jack
  21. That's why I was trying to organise you to have a steer of my car. It is a trade off. I would imagine that by the time you are in 2nd gear on boost of the GTX car it would be on top of GT30 car and by that stage there is no turning back. It will simply drive away from it... the faster you go, the further the gap will be. Remember the trade off works the other way too. The GTX is heaps easier to drive off boost as well. So it goes both ways. A well sorted big turbo car vs a small turbo car with the same mods... the big turbo car will win. Yeah the smaller turbo car will get up on the bit slightly quicker but as you said it runs out puff. The GTX won't run out of puff. Jack
  22. That I am Craig! Off the mark it's not as quick as a GT30'd stock car. Top of first it is already turning the tyres. 2nd with the ZF edit it is struggling for grip but really starting to hike and this is only on 12psi. 3rd gear roll on with it on boost and a stock car wouldn't see you. A good comparison is that my car made consistent 225rwkw stock on 10.5psi or there abouts. On 12psi with the GTX, supporting mods and tune it made 100rwkw more for only 1.5psi extra boost. The way the car was over the weekend it is quite controlled, almost too easy to get power down with good tyres on the car. It just smashes it. 16psi I reckon will be great fun! Make sure you budget for good bushes for the rear end mate if you haven't already. It's need them. Jack
  23. Found it... What a dumb ass... list the car as EGO when clearly the pictured car is black and MY car that has been photoshopped to drop it. Might just ask him a few questions... Jack
  24. haha really? Link? On the 'other' forum a guy noticed my car had been used and photoshopped by a wheel place in a magazine. Jack
  25. No doubt there Craig! When I spoke to Theo and told him I'd been chatting to you on here and all the sister car thing came up with our cars and mods, then Garrett couldn't come through. I was honestly disappointed for you! You are right 2 weeks isn't that bad really. It has been fun over the weekend though getting a feel for power delivery and what the car is going to be like to drive. The one thing I really like about the GTX is that the car is so much easier to drive off boost. If you want to go after it then it's a crazy bear in a cage waiting to get out. If not then it's as pedestrian as the car next to me. To me that is perfect balance. Easy as. Jack
