Hi Guys, Got the car back from a service and they are telling me that "Rear leaf spring buffers detached causing springs to rub" Is this something that is fixable, or do I need to replace the leaf? Anyone done this recently with standard leaf that have a price? Not interested in lowering Thanks :D

Opti-Coat Or Glass Plexin Paint Protection
Rochefort replied to Rochefort's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
So finally got it done, I ended up getting Body Armour 9H which is supposedly designed in Australia, comes with a life time warranty. Import bit, was $770 which included a full detail as it needed to get some oxidation off. To quote the detailer "You're paint has had a hard life" I'm spewing I only thought about getting the before shots the day before I got it done... And the weather was frikkin arse, so the oxidation on the driver door doesn't show as well.... Haven't had a nice bright shiny day to get awesome after shots either, that and I'm a crap with ye ole SLR so eh..... It looks good enough that a mate with a Maloo wants to get it done on his car, and his missus Prado. You really notice how shiny it is when you park it in a carpark and even the clean cars look dull.... She was a bit dusty and dirty... a drive in the rain.. CLEAN... Yeah money well spent On with the Pics! Before: And After: Was done by Pro Detail, which is a Mobile detailing mob in Melbourne. -

Opti-Coat Or Glass Plexin Paint Protection

Which Modesta did you go for? -
Hi All, Anyone had something like Opti-Coat (ceramic) or a Glass Plexin product (like from paint protection direct) bung on their cars? They both claim to apply a product that bonds to the paint to produce a paint protection layer that is blocks UV and is resistance to bird poo, insect, sap etc. I've got some paint oxidation on the driver side and the local possums think the ute is something they can go nuts sh*tting and pissing on (parked under trees in the drive way) Was just going to look at getting it detailed to get it out when I stumbled on PDD stuff and did a bit more research. Sounds perfect to me if it does what it claims too. Couple of links: Glass Plexin: http://www.paintprotectiondirect.com.au/ Opticoat: http://opticoat.com.au

Probably should mention its a UTE as well.. Kinda important information :D

bearings wouldnt be so bad then, at least it comes under the warranty limit. Need to read through the paperwork again, not too fussed if I'm out of pocket a little. Trying to get an idea of whats wrong, and roughly how much repairs are so these jokers dont try and rip me off..

Hi Guys, What are the signs that the diff is shagged? I've got a bf2 xr6t.. It does the knocking noise occasionally when you take off which from what I've read isn't unusual. It makes a noise that slightly resembles an autolocker, but quieter, when you are slowly turning right, when you have the wheel just off center. It makes a rubbing squeaky noise.. not sure how to describe it, when it seems to be cold and you are turning right which I think goes away after awhile. Notice it a lot in car parks. Now its also making a whirring noise, noticeable more at speed. Which just started recently. I changed the diff oil somewhere around 6000-7000km ago with nulon heavy duty diff oil which has a friction modifier in it after bringing it in to the dealer I bought it from (Was still under statutory warranty) and they said it was dirty oil and quoted me 300 bucks to do change the oil ... Seriously, I know the stuff stinks like hell... but 300 bucks? So I'm thinking I might drop the oil and fill it again, which wont hurt. Maybe I'll try a different oil like the caltex full synth stuff I've seen mentioned in another thread. But realistically, does it sound borkedtm? How much have people paid to get them fixed too... They chucked in for free an extended warranty for 2 years which basically would get me $1000 off a diff repairs... But if they are charging 300 bucks to change diff oil then they will probably "charge" the $1k on labour alone.... As a wise man once said. If its got tits or wheels its bound to cause you trouble

Intake Muffler Delete On Bf2?
Rochefort replied to Rochefort's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
I kinda like the crossover pipes though. Makes it look a hell of a lot less like a crappy straight 6 motor Cant do too many obvious mods, cant remember if I told the missus no mods this time, or no illegal mods this time... :D Actually that's something I should research... how hard it is to up the PSI on these things.. The surf I had was easy enough if you could be bothered... -
Hi All Seen it mentioned on quite a few threads that you can replace the intake muffler on the FG's.... Does the BF MK2 have em as well? Wouldnt mind it being a little noisier. Also while I have someones attention :D Air box holes? Much of a difference if its in the bottom or the front of the box? Seems like a stupidly cheap mod for a bit more nosie (yeah so im a bit lame wanting it a tad louder.. but hey... its too quiet) Thanks

Dont believe so. Just balance and fit. 50 buck discount for 4 tyres. I think they give you free tyre rotations every 10k, nitrogen fills for the life of the tyres, free puncture repairs as well.
-
Did that once.. Got it extremely sideways.. :D But then, was dropping down gears in the wet... ahhh fun times Hrm its got a lot of hop bine left overs in the back, does that count Actually was having a little bit of fun with the right foot today. Still need better tyres though Anyone run the Michy Pilot sport ps3's? Reasonably priced at costco.
-
Quickly learning that Its just a bit of a pucker moment when you are climbing a hill in traffic and she drops a gear and starts squirming :D
-
Never been a fan of cumho tyres... The front of the Ute has Pirelli Cintura P1's and the back has Pirelli P7's. Couldnt see anything that Cintura b randing or any identifying marker to say they are the high end p7's.. Either way... Seems to be good reviews on the Good Year Eagle Directional 5's and even better on the Asymmetric 2's Low profile tyres are such a rip off.. at least for 250 a corner I got a lot of rubber on the 4by
-
What tyres are people running on the rears of their utes? I'm finding mine break traction waaaaaaaaaaaay too easy in the wet, especially if there is an incline in the road. Really have to feather the accelerator... And if it happens to change gear while climbing a hill... be prepaid to catch the arse end as it goes WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :o And yeah, I know she has a turbo... and lots of power and its wet... and my old turbo diesel 4by would do it if you stomped it hard enough... But... This is minimal power. I meant to look at the brand/name of the tyre before typing this thread, but its too far to walk to the carpark with a buggered knee :s
-
Wow.. there is a bit of room under there IF you remove the spare.... Had to heavily suck in the guy and squeeze under, just fit...... Ribs are a bit sore now though :D Still am failing to see where the $290 quote for the job came from... How expensive is the ford stuff? :o
-
I noticed on fleabay they have the genuine kits for the towbar, comes with everything you need allegedly... Question is, are the holes predrilled or do you have to attack the car with a drill? I've got a Bf Mk II Ute
-
Bloody hell.. The guys where I got my ute (Subaru Glen Waverley) quoted me over 300 to change the oil... with the "special ford stuff" that will make all those damn noised go away. Thought it was a load of crap... I hate doing diff oil though, that stuff stinks to high hell. But hey, for the money I save I can pick up a new jack, some ramps AND the oil...... Yeah.... I cant see me fitting underneath the ute.. :D

Hi All, Does anyone know what the damn trick is to removing the bloody cig/power socket from the tissue box holder in a BF? Thing is driving me mad, would think it would be easy... It's either that or buy another socket when my replacement fascia for the sh*ty aerpro "for BF falcon automatics" arrives... Stupid thing doesnt fit properly, cant get the face plate for the shifter back on... That is a rant for another time though.... lol

Mine is the before shot of wellsy_1234's ute

Thanks for all the tips. Might grab a kicker hideaway sub thing... The amp in it does high and low level so I don't need to worry about a converter.. As far as splitting off from the rear speakers, do I just splice the wires heading in to the rears? Was figuring the quickest/easiest way was to do it at the speaker end unless that's a bad idea.

Thanks. Now to find the dimensions for the tweeter. Looks like the Infinity tweeters can be a tad large.... Hopefully its in the workshop manual
