    Cat Gone

Well I finally done it, took the cat off and replaced it with a 3" pipe. I Had to lead the exhaust guy by the hand but got there in the end. (There's some guys out there that should be selling icecreams). Any way I took it back for a retune and it went from 285rw to 320rw.I have red on the forum that the cat is the big restriction. and see that now.It is quite a bit noisier now but I still dont mind but if I get sick of it I will put my centre muffler back in. I got the 320rw on the first run and also the car dropped 2 cylinders (valve springs). So in went a set of Nizpros. I also got it backed off to 302rw as I am still a little bit worried about other things and am happy with what I have. With the cat gone it seems a lot more responsive for a 18rw gain. I have a Q that somebody might help me with.Would it be the cat removal that made it so much more responsive or do the factory springs start to break down over a period and the Nizpros compencated for this?I did notice after I had the 285rw tune it didn't perform as well after a while. Also it's a MK11 auto 10,000ks Thanks guys
  2. So would I just be better off removing the center muffler? If I remove it should I put hotdogs in? Would I need a custom tune if I removed the center muffler? Would the generic CAPA tune work? With the edit, it is my understanding now that CAPA generic tunes are so good now its not worth getting a custom tune, is that correct? I hope to get about 240rwkw. Is that possible with stock manual T56 2nd Typhoon CAI/BMC Filter, Center Muffler removed, without putting the stock internals at too much risk? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I took my centre muffler out for more power but I dont think it made any difference only noisier which I think sounds OK.I heard a turbo the other day with centre gone and hot dogs and couldn't tell the difference from the factory system.BTW the turbo I heard was getting a flash and custom tune he got 240rw with a manual.
  3. Mine is the same. Thought the bigger IC blocking the radiator might have made a difference but seems fine.
  4. It's not a hard job now that I know what to do. It was straight foward until I undone the water pipe that cools the turbo bearing and I never had anything to stop the flow of coolant all hell broke loose as I was trying to find something to stop the flow Ended up wrapping thread tape around it. Lost a header tank of coolant.

With speeds like that (after all, we are talking 281 to 273 kilometers per hour) you should definately be breaking 10's easy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah your right there.... I wish.(Must be getting excited)
  7. I have a MK11 10,000ks took the heat shields off to check the turbo bolts, all tight as. Checked the manifold bolts 3 loose one took two turns to tighten. Just a little input

    New Times

Hi, no I haven't tried stalling up, seemed to be good grip on the strip so I dont think that was an issue. My mph was all over the place 175.53-170.82.Might try stalling up next time but it can't be good for the gearbox.

    New Times

Went back to the drags the other day to have another go this time with the TC off. The first time when I had my TC on my best time was 14.16 @163.2. Now with the TC off I got 13.454 @ 170.81 Still slow for a car with an auto and 285rw.There was around 20km hour direct front on wind would this effect the times much?

  17. Hi, could somebody explain to me what over boosting and spiking is please. last night I took the car for a burst and while I was at full throttle I got a noise from under the bonnet like a horn going off (no jokes please) Not loud but a similar sound. Could this be over boosting or spiking. Thanks

    Flasher

Thanks Jeff, but when I have finished and done the tune that I want for instance programe P2, and say I plug it in a couple of days later to programe it to programe P1. I thought the light would stay on programe P2 so you know what programe you are on but it doesn't it keeps reverting to the F for factory light. Thanks

    Flasher

When I want to change the program on my flasher it always reverts to the F setting. For example when I programe in the P2 and start the car like they say, when I have turned the car off and back on again the light has gone off the P2 and back to the F. Should it stay on the P2 so that you know what setting it is on?There is no problem with P2 tune just that it keeps reverting to the F light every time I change the programe.I hope this makes sense.
  21. I have 285rw and an auto. If I take off in the dry with TC off I will get wheel spin and stepping out for a bit with factory Dunlops. Wet conditions... stay off the right pedal With TC on or off.I tried to beat a line of traffic in the wet one day with TC on and will never try it again. Just remember dont floor it in the wet.
  22. I was hoping you were going to colour code the spoiler, for a while I thought you were going to leave it black.I reckon it looks a lot better with the stripes and spats gone, but I think you should put the lights back on.I think the tail lights go with the head lights to a certain degree especially the lighter chrome ones. But everyone to their own taste.
  23. Yeah and why near the end of the race instead at the beginning
  24. I was at the race and never heard it I still think the team that complained should be named. If the truths known they probaly never had theirs on either until they decided to complain.
  25. With the centre muffler removed, would I get much more noise when I gut the cat
