Lol I fail to see either of your points and what's funny? Jet you seriously gonna sit there and tell me its not impressive how close it is given how much less power one car has? Cmon man farkin hell? This was never an attack or a beat up of either which is what its turning into. It was about how good the barra is and I'm sick of saying it. You guys are banging on about a base model fgt vs a r8 clubsport lol? If were gonna be like that how bout stock miami or fkn fg f6 vs vf r8 hmm. Stop being stubborn jet you know its bullsh*t how fast a fgt actually is in reality. And Keith stop stirring him. Wish I never brought it up now..... Sorry keif but I'd have to agree with the plug, stock manual 12.8. I don't believe it. Bloody good driver if it is
-
Grr I want it to leave it at that coz that's all I wanted was for u to conceded they are fully sick which I know you know. But seriously bro vf r8 as tested 0-100 4.8 second 1/4 13.2. Just about bang on a 7 year old dino with 70 less killo wasps....nuff said
-
Farkin hell "I'd say" was speculation obviously. And I'll say it again the point is how well the barra performs with 70 less kW! Farking 70...... This isn't childish ford vs Expensive Daewoo gear. Its a testament of how good these donks are. Anyway I'm happy to line up against you jet(bit of a drive, meet half way lol?) and we will see how far/close it is. Bearing in mind on paper there is no argument the vf r8 will smash it. The reality is it probably wouldn't be doing any smashing. what do they run over the 1/4? Like for real, not as tested by some bullsh*t magazine. We know a stock fgt is capable of 12.9 13. Some have apparently done better.
-
Stock vf r8 makes around 260rwkw and that's not until nearly 5500rpm by the looks of a couple of stock runs on you tube. So yeah a stock fgt actually makes more power through a lot of the rev range.I'd say stock vf r8 would get pumped by a stock fgt easy

He tagged the limiter and took an eternity to grab the next gear, I lifted when that happened as I thought it was over. He backed off pretty much as soon as he realised I had. Auto vs manual isnt apples for apples but the point is the thing was probably making some serious power and its amazing I even kept up. Sounded so good lol, my window was open and I was on his quarter so it was loud as fark. Sounded tough just bloody idling. Love a lumpy 8. The point is the barra is an impressive package and the way it develops power can easily surprise ppl between a set of lights.

No a bov won't improve performance, and doesn't need to be upgraded unless pushing a fair bit of boost. No a few thousand dollars isnt cheap to anybody really but in the scheme of modifying cars for a safe extra 60-70 kW at the wheels, its cheap.
-
^^^^^this karnt, where you been mate haven't seen a post from you in some time. And we've seen your pretty face before....sitting in your engine bay. How did you go with that anyway? Back on the road?
-
No eye deer lol, sik dad joke
-
Lol the skid marks in that vid are farking epic
-
Steady I didn't say pumped, I didn't say beat, he wasn't spinning. It was from 40 to like 90 lol, I would have been the one getting pumped on the quarter I think. The point is its impressive the less powerful car even kept up. The Miami boys have the same problem getting beaten by less powerful turbos, even seen cat600 talk about this in depth when talking circle d converters. Barra ftw
-
And wats so funny jet....before I make any wild assumptions...

Just had a roll on with a blown vf maloo that was lumpy as. Had to turn a corner from a set of lights onto a main road. Was probably from about 40k and I didn't get a kick down, apart from the half a car length he got whilst turning the corner that's where I stayed....until he had to grab another cog, I hadn't pulled to the top of second yet so he must have been in 1st. Was blown for sure could hear it whine. STOCK G6ET! Power below the line ftw
-
Assuming you have already cut the hose to the bov you are going to have to persist with some heat. It should soften up. Otherwise just run a new line if you have completely butchered it. As for the manual boost control.....Stop what your doing with that...throw it in the bin and do some research on these cars. It has closed loop boost control and will not work in conjunction with a manual controller...which are sh*t anyway and deliver a gay boost curve even when they are working properly. Even if u bypass the solenoid, boost cut is 12psi on an fg I think. Your going to hit that regularly with a manual controller chasing 11.5. Not to mention running extra boost without a tune is going to end in expensive tears. If you want more power, minimum you can do on an fg would probably be injectors and tune only, stock cat is probably going to see a sub 300rwkw figure and without an intercooler upgrade heat soak is going to be a big issue...it is on a stock car as it is. If you do cat and intercooler add a fuel pump and reg to get the most out of the setup. Could maybe get away with, injectors, vcm tune, and a high flow cat welded into stock exhaust for around 2k and maybe push close to 300rwkw but your pushing your luck with the stock fuel pump. Also the plastic pipes don't really like more boost so a pipe kit is also a good idea.

I really hope it does happen coz I will be in for sure. Be nice if the lean on it a little more than 310kw. GT's have heritage, the parts catalogue Miami is a beast. But the xr6 turbo has no doubt been their hero car of the past decade. From a turbo AU project that 2 ford engineers were playing around with(so the story goes) a legend was born and suddenly the v8 paled into insignificance. It would take almost 10 years and a supercharged v8 to put it back in its place and even then the fg f6 would have something to say about that.... Everybody involved in the barra engine program over the years whether it be n/a or FPV donks should feel very proud. Yeah maybe I'm being a bit of a fan boy but there really is no argument. The barra is the greatest donk tooled in Australia by a mile...can't help but think what might have been if it made it into other performance vehicles around the world. Cmon ford aus, give one of your greatest acheivments the send off it deserves.

Turrets are different though. Fg is slightly bigger by the looks of it. Might be wrong...

U guys do know about the meta search torrentz.eu right?

That theory jet, suggests that the resistance of the roller is greater than the friction between the cam and the roller, causing it to slide? Sounds good but I'm still not sold. Why then was this not as much of an issue on B series? rollers have not changed between them as far as I'm aware. Also many FULL roller engines run syn from the factory. So yeah I do think "why?" And try and make a logical deduction but this one seems to go both ways. At least for me. Sorry pep should probably have the last few posts move to the fg cams thread if you want.
-
I think it's about time some fkn like oil scientists weighed in on this debate. So far all I have heard is plausible speculation and no actual facts...not saying anybody is right or wrong but a 100% answer on how a synthetic can cause this kind of wear and why a mineral protects against it would be good... My fg cams are worn and was run on mineral until I owned it....or am I to believe the wear occurred in the 20 thou I've run it on syth.....

Not enough suede around the diff housing for stripey..

Trying to work out why not wearing undies is an OHS issue? Do your balls hang out your shorts and get smashed by the rocks? Coz that would suck...

Fuel Filter Change Over
barnz replied to Bizkets is Drunk?'s topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Lop that's a matter of perspective bjc. The threads face different ways...they are both RH thread from memory. -
This doesn't mean sh*te lol, infact people who regularly have to go through ohs crap become more complacent for some reason. I always do the mowing in pluggers and boardies. Cop a thousand rocks in the shins and sit down afterwards for a cold one while I bleed out from the legs....
-
Turn your pedals upside down and swap the clutch and brake pedal around and remap them. Feels better IMO. Also a slightly stiffer spring in the throttle. Just my personal preference.
-
Jet likes to dangle the carrot rather than just spoon feed the answers. Its a good way of teaching people.... ...and he just enjoys being a difficult know it all karnt sometimes [emoji6]
