ozy knows mate, just do what he did, 4link, job done. He has been through all this. -
You guys in bris? Id be keen to bring the ST. My g6et really isnt track ready. Could be good for lols though, cooked brakes and trips on the grass as well as some boat drifts. Keen as to see where the ST and myself sit in a field with some variety.

Most manual race cars are sequential, practicality wise there isnt a huge difference between say a dual clutch auto, the zf is essentially a slush box though. What you say about them not wanting to do what you want in manual mode with stock tune is certainly true. I have given one a hard time for the past 3 years and trust me you learn to drive around it all. would be much better if it downshifted when you wanted to everytime and if there wasnt that slight delay between slapping the stick and shifting. I find it holds in gear with the converter locked just fine in corners and behaves just like I would expect a manual to so can't agree what that argument. Driven more than enough sh*tty autos hard to know what you mean but. Im pretty confident I could set comparable lap times, if not better with the zf in pretty much any scenario. stock vs stock obviously. Surley such a same driver, stock vs stock comparison already exists on the interwebs

sorry keif but I think you will find the zf is actually at an advatage to a 6 speed man on hill/track. Have you actually given a zf equpped car a proper flogging? If the zf had throttle blipping on downshifts like it does as fittied to shaguars and bimmers there would litlerly be nothing the manual could hold to it. Even then blipping to downshift early in the braking area is only done cause its a better time to do it when braking in a straight line, so you need to blip so as not to upset the balance of the car. The brakes do a much better job of stopping the car and any bullsh*t about helping stop the car with engine braking is just that. Maybe in the 50s when race cars had pathetic brakes it was somewhat helpfull.. With the way the zf is configured in the falcon you still dont want to upset the car by downshifting early in the stop without blipping so you just do it later when the revs are lower, which is easy when you dont need to worry about a clutch and heal and toeing. Pretty sure nelson who tracks his ZF xr6t very regularly will back all of that up. Hes also done a heap of mods to make it quicker on a circuit and none of those include a manual conversion.. T56 is definitely the best option for OP. ZF you will end up with a BF by time your done BTR is polishing a turd IMO Powerglide....rediculous option unless your trying to get mental power to the ground and the sole focus of the car is drag racing. IMO

That's the one, way worse when cold as well.

if your in bris I have one off my g6et you can test fit. The profile of the boot is the same I think. FG GT wing fits on an fgx boot lid no worries.

Yeah that's horse sh*te pix, as fluff said custom build, I would expect a mint builder to be on the job. I think people take tradies for granted a little bit, it takes alot of experiance and skill to be a good one. You usually wont know it at first when you encounter one coz generally they wont make a fuss about how hard sh*t is or talk up how good they are. A modest tradie will usually be an excellent one. They are modest because they dont find what they are doing overly difficult, because theyre not retarded.. Its one of those things most people will be able to do, a minority will be exceptional. -
I have noticed quite a few 9sec cars like vevas for example like to have a skate at the deep end at 200+kmh. I would say plenty of clean undies are an essential spare for the 9sec guys

yeahhhhhh.....can you flash back to stock. Torque curve is weird. Bet its pulling timing out the entire run....
-
so I should tag the limiter on the way to 3rd gear when trying to build wheel speed for skids.... and matty I have destroyed many clutches also. good ones arent cheap either by high load steve I mean right in the fat of the torque curve, where the torque reduction is most aggressive coz box is trying to stay alive. coz maximum farts...

Mines farked, wharring noise, slips in 3rd just a little when cold, 3-4 shift flares. Engine idles smooth and perfect out of gear then feels rough as in gear. Put into into gear on cold startup and hold it on the brake just idling, feels like it has a massive cam for like 30 seconds. Doesnt do that if left in park. 120000km. Been serviced stock power. I suspect my short shifting at high loads is the culprit. 1st 2nd 3rd on the brake etc...... I dont think I have owned a car that my lack of mechanical sympathy hasnt destroyed the gearbox so im hardly surprised or upset.

Jet might be able to help you out with prices on a decent cooler like the plaz 700hp no cut or the jonny tig one. HDI coolers work OK but not great. they fit like crap and you need to cut your car in half to fit it so resist the temptation if you can. few hundred more will gwt you a good kit
-
dont get the dekas, and yeah if hes smashing 15psi on stock parts to net 219rwkw get a new tuner. a stock fg will turn 230+ rwkw at like 10psi with a smaller turbo to put it in perspective 15psi with the factory turbo on 98 should see you well into the 300rwkw zone. Stock parts you wont get there and shouldn't be pumping that much into it the way it is now anyway...
-
I like the rear of the fgx but it does need a wing of some kind. Deleting the lip spoiler from the fgx g6et was a poor decision. FGX actually needs it to look good and it was also the most noticeable difference between the g6e and g6et at a glance

also without knowing a great deal about the turbo you got, its hard to say what power your going to make but your setup should be good for quite alot, turbo, gearbox and the fuel you run will be the limiting factors imo -

Take the credit where its due mate you do quality work. Why you looking at glides ffs? No faith in dominello. Id go a t400 with a gear vendors under/overdrive before a bloody glide...I know they can be built strong but 2 gears? You need a fairly big stall with a glide as well, 2 gears and 2nd is 1:1 I think so need a big stall to get up in the power in first. Some cars even use a little shot of nitrious to get up on the converter so they can leave the line with boost. Seriously a pretty sh*tty option for the street and probably overkill unless your trying to get 2000hp to the ground. Then there are very few options -
can see where the bolt head was rattling around. Lucky it didnt end up any worse. 20 bucks is a good result!
