  1. the only thing at the back off the ICC is a large molex plug. If the ICC isnt pluged into that correctly then nothing works, but if you didnt take out the ICC durning your install then that wont be your problem.
  2. that's easy to tell. when the car kit has control the screen changes to let you know. Im not sure what the green screen ICC says when the car kit is active but it may say "media". Im thinking that the likely cause of your problem is in a wiring short where you grabed your signal from. Just make sure that no bare wires are touching together around the section where you cut into them for the LLC. If you have a short the ICC will detect the problem and shut down the output stage to protect itself. A dead short can also be caused by a dead speaker. You can use a multi meter set on the ohms scale to check your speakers. They should read 3.5 - 4.5 ohms when there not plugged in to the wiring loom.
  3. there under the ICC. Did you take the ICC out when you did your install of the amp? and on that amp install, where did you get the signal from?
  4. have you been playing with the fader control? just make sure its set to the center position. If you turn the volume up to 35 can you hear any noise at all from the speakers? even with the cd on pause you should hear a kind of hiss noise when you turn the volume flat out. If there is no noise at all when on 35 then either the speaker wire plug under the ICC has come out or there is some other problem in the wiring between the ICC and speakers. Its also possable that the internal amp in the ICC has died. If you can hear the hiss noise from turning the volume to full but cant hear the radio or cd then its a internal problem with the ICC. The fact that you have recently conected up new amps would suggest to me that you may have done something during the install that the ICC didnt like or even just knocked a plug so now your getting a problem when it was ok just after you installed the amps. I hope this helps
  5. a modified xbox is the way to go. and if you have one lying around already you can get it into your car for as little as $150. There are many topics on this so if your interested you should have a go at searching for the word 'xbox'
  6. the wiring loom that your talking about isnt a standard feature in the fords. you have a couple of options here, Ford sell a boosted and unboosted cable that you can use and I have also designed a box that plugs in the same as the ford product with the only diference being that the box I have also cleans up the audio signal so you wont get much if any whine through the speakers. If you want more info you can read about the box I designed by clicking HERE
  7. its probably just the relays clicking on and off.
  8. it sounds like a problem with the car rather than the battery. If the battery was internally shorting itself out then it wouldnt matter if you disconected the terminals or not. Having said that the smell you described is coming from the battery. Id say your up for a new battery but before you install it, find out what was making the noise in the fuse box because its obviously related to the problem your having
  9. im not 100% sure because ive never used one. I was thinking about designing something to do the job though because I could make one for around 1/2 what there charging
  10. ASL sell a product that will do what you want. I'm pretty sure they charge $170 for it
  11. In my experience with LLC's you are always better off to grab the signal before you amplify it. The ICC amplifier is quite dirty but the line level signal that the ICC generates is a good flat signal. its only downfall is the low peak to peak output. its not too hard to modify the ICC to give you line level out. you can pay someone like ASL to do it for you or if your good with a soldering iron you can have a crack at it yourself as I have done. Cheers Troy
  12. did you really hook up perm power to the car kit plug try getting the power from the back of the "power source" socket. It will give you the current that your head unit requires.

    Anti-virus

I used to run SAV (norton corporate version) and had done so for years. After my update to Vista I decided to change to Kaspersky as there the only people who are giving you a 3rd party firewall option for Vista at the moment. Long story short, Kaspersky found 8 email viruses on my computer during its first system scan that norton let through without any hassles at all. so I guess im saying that its not only the system slowing down that norton suffers from. its also letting through viruses that kaspersky is catching. I say go Kaspersky!!!
  14. the short answer is NO it will not work. the reason being is that a VGA signal will output a minimum sync frequency of 60hz. to sucessfully use the ICC screen you need to sync the image at 30hz.
  15. hate to break it to you but none of the BA utes have traction control If you want to fix your cars ability to brake traction then I suggest you contact a tuner that can tune capa edits and go from there

    Digital Slr's

the best advice I can give on this topic is to encourage you to spend as much time as you can on this web site. Ive been using that site for years now and have spent around $8k on cameras over that time all with the help of there reviews and the real world customer feedback.

    Top Gear

just search for top gear on a site like mininova.org and sort by date to bring the new eps to the top of the screen. season 9 eps of top gear are coming out every monday morning our time.
  18. I agree, it is the best choice if you happen to be a yuppie chick that is only interested in shiny things if it wasn't for the IPod the only apple you would be buying today would be the fruit kind. but you mac lovers can continue to justify your overpriced boat anchors all you like, its almost as amusing as the smear ads that apple have been running lately
  19. the DRM in vista is pretty full on so I can understand why some people would be complaining about not being able to copy things that are protected by DRM. early on in the vista builds I had issues with burning DVD's but as newer 3rd party software came out I havent had any problems.
  20. after reading what some of you have said about vista being slower than XP it really made me laugh If you are running hardware that was designed for vista (eg. a 965 MB and E6xxx processor) then you will find that vista is ALOT FASTER than XP. for example, my media PC cold boots into vistas media centre in just under 30 seconds, while the exact same hardware booting into XP's media centre takes just on 50 seconds. This is not the only time you can tell its quicker, in almost every task you do the vista machine is just more responsive than XP on the same hardware. Where I do agree with what some other guys have said is if you try to stick vista on older hardware then it will be slower than running XP. I have also tested a amd 3000+ machine for boot times and if the machine has 1gb of ram, then vista is a fair bit slower, but if you put 2gb in there isnt much difference however XP is still quicker by about 5 seconds. the funny thing is though that even though vista is faster on my hardware I still run XP with media centre because there is still no way for me to software control my system fans in vista which either makes the machine run too hot or too loud
  21. its different for every brand and even model of router so its hard to help you with that one other than to say that it will be in the manual for your router. but having said that, if the port checks as clear then you dont need to do anything. although if your network has all its ports open then you should think about adding some security to your network just in case you visit a dodgy website and someone decides to use you for hacking practice cheers Troy
  22. you can use any port number you like as long as its below 65536 and not being used by any other application or PC on your network. Your very unlucky to be using a port number that high that is already in use but the ods are that the next number up should be ok to use, or just change the 43020 to 53020. maybe you have more than 1 pc on your network that is running azureus and both may be configured to use the same port??? just remember to forward the port you choose in all the appropriate places otherwise it will still give you grief
  23. just tell azureus to use a different port that doesnt conflict with anything else on your network. oh and dont forget to forward the port you choose in your router/firewall/modem etc aswell and 1 last thing, your dropouts that you were complaining about at the start of this thread have nothing to do with azureus. it has nothing to do with any part of your internet connection for that matter either. your only pinging your local router. Id say its some 2.4ghz devices in the area that are causing you hassles. Maybe your neighbour has just bought himself a new 2.4ghz cordless phone???? just my 2c.
  24. 1, I have the connections for the ICC's that I can help you out with. 2, I do make them for people 3, this is complicated, but in short the answer is not really. if you run a xbox you can do it because the xbox will output both compisite and RGB signals at the same time. 4, most roof screens will take either a pal or ntsc signal. the key here is to make sure that the device that's outputting the video signal is giving you a rgb ntsc signal for the ICC screen and also whatever signal your roof screen wants too if you are looking for ideas then im happy to meet up with you to show you what I've done in my phoon. cheers shock.
  25. I have successfully converter ed the 0.5V pre outs from the ICC to 6V pre outs. the only catch is they are still in development because of a whine issue that im having trouble getting rid of on one of the test cars.
