Don't splice in, just crimp flat splice terminals on your stereo wiring and plug it in. Im pretty hazy but I think the yellow with the black trace is the key switched power, black is obviously earth and the red is constant. Just problem it with a meter to be sure.

You don't. You want to balance the shift speed to protect both the clutches and the hard parts (especially with a Btr trans) fast hard shifts = happy clutches and sad hard parts, slower shifts - sad clutches and happy hard parts.
