Correct. "phasers" is generic nomenclature for either the VCT Actuator solenoids or the Cam Phaser/Cam sprocket Phaser- Actuator Solenoids-

    Help!

The Phasers are the mechanical device that actuates the cam, the vct actuators control the oil flow into and out of the phaser.

yes that is the part you need, but there are two style. A style with a retaining bracket and a still without (as pictured) You'd need to confirm before ordering. Opinions on the long oil change interval aside. I'd be pushing for the dealer to clean the current units in an ultrasonic bath especially given the history of the engine. I'd be surprised if they don't come good after a clean. Re the phasers the car will report them as an issue if the car commands a change in Cam position but it doesn't happen. This can be because the phaser is actually stuffed or because it's not getting the oil required to move it due to a faulty/blocked solenoid. Holding the pedal flat to the floor and cranking the car will reset the phasers. So i'd push them to clean the solenoids, reset the phaser as described and then let it run. The phaser have physical limits in place so the cam angle cannot move to the point engine damage can occur.

What's the specs on the car? Is it tuned? New cam phaser are quite expensive. Unlikely they are the issue. Solenoids vary from $80 for non genuine replacements to $300 ish for new from Ford. They can be cleaned and reused in some cases. If the has been tuned it possible the issue is not related the cam phasing hardware and couple be a skipped timing chain. It's hard to say exactly what the cause would be without more info tho. I've purchased parts from FordHold Wreckers (here in Perth) Mcaruthur Autoparts (NSW) and Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage (VIC) with no issue. You'll be better off going to a specialist wrecker as the parts will be better quality.
  6. Some info on my catch can install on this page.
  7. Similar to this, they are monza ls series cans (A guy organised a group buy a while back.) They have a baffle/oil seperator plate and an mesh gauze. Double R Ron posted some good pics a while back.
  8. Doesn't work.
  9. My Setup is as you have described. Stock Crankcase breather arrangement (with a catch can) and a PCV catch can with a check valve so the can doesn't see boost pressure. Works a treat.
  10. Yeah sorry mate, was from a previous quote that didn't happen, was on the mobile and couldn't delete the quote box. Free quote below-
