  1. Yeh Mark a 12 month lease, for all the fun the $35k salary sac package cost is painful but I will look at re leasing for another 12 months, I still have 6 months left and only 7000k's to do Cheers Rob
  2. So how is everyones GT's and XR8'S going? Sweet Red had her 15,000ks service a few weeks ago and the only thing to report was that it had apparently used about 500mls 1/2 a litre of oil over those kms (out of around 7 litres so they tell me) big deal. The past weekend I took her for a blast to the Blue Mountains, Cootamundra, Bathurst, Cowra, Oberon and districts for a family function. Did 1900kms over 3 days over various terrain- Hume 115ks on cruise, to hilly, undulating country around Cootamundra and Oberon. Pushed the red girl to over twice posted safe cornering speed numerous times without a hint of getting off track or giving me any grief. Plenty of passenger grief if ya know what I mean. This car is sensational, from overtaking great swathes of slowass NSW drivers up long mountain straights to cornering flat out, fully loaded, this 1800kg auto 290kw beast averaged 11L/100km calculated, used no oil, has no shunt. From purring like a kitten on the Hume to roaring like a steam train at 5500, it never even hinted at missing a beat. After 18,400ks it really does just get better and better. So far no brake shudder and no fade even after numerous repeated downhill applications. However when one passenger requested to be let out so she could walk home, "sorry can't stop now" Divorce papers to be served forthwith" but hey you only live once right?
  3. I think it has more to do with the speed of the colour wheel, the earlier DLP,s had 2x speed colour wheels and most of the later ones have 3 or 5x speed which apparently vitually eliminates this "rainbow" effect or colour flashes. I saw a few colour flashes in the first 10 hrs of my DLP projector and then I didn't notice them at all any more, brain or eyes ignored or got used to them I guess, the rest of my family has never seen them nor have we ever had any headaches or fatigue in over 450hrs of viewing.
  4. Yeh Dutchie agree, the stuck pixel problem can occur in LCD projectors also, that's one of the reasons why I went for a DLP projector, but both technologies provide excellent impact and value for money. I like the Panasonic AE 500 xga LCD projector at the moment, the colors are stunning, and not too much screen door, a nice machine to be picked up for around $3k, the new Dennon 3805 7.1 amp is a nice unit also, Still though even the best projector can't match a good 100hz CRT flatscreen for pure picture quality from what I've seen. How good is playing Halo xbox on a 100inch screen, with DD 5.1 blasting you from all sides? Have you tried that yet?, see if you can get the XBOX- scart to component adaptor to feed into the projector, for me it gave at least 10-20% better picture quality. Monster make one though its around $170 bucks
  5. Sorry but what/who is Fords down under? Some kind of club? A car dealer? Another site/forum? Cheers Rob
  6. So far the only one I've seen or read be impressed by alloytec is the guy in the ad on the dyno, oh and his son in the other ad. You are exactly right Mercturbo, I am sensing a strong presence from the Dark Side on this thread, poor disillusioned buggers. Hows your beasty going mate? Yeh Rick the dark side infiltrate everywhere, they pose as Ford lovers then attack us and show their true colours, ah well I'd be spewin too if the latest updated all conquering crummie is getting average reviews, and good 'ol XR6 N/A is preferred over SV6. GT just gets better, console lid sh*ts me but that's it, awesome. Still havent cracked double ton believe it or not, solid as rock at 190 though, not long now though, need a real good stretch of road for that kind of thing, private road that is
  7. Labour learnt their lesson on interest rates- out of office for how many years?. Its time to get a party and leader who does'nt crawl up other leaders asses. Bali and all future terrorist attacks will be the direct result of Liberal party policies. Hopefully the "We will never have a GST" liars will get thier collective butts kicked so far out of office that we'll never have to listen to their crap again, and along with them the disgustingly discrimitive industrial relations policy and its individual contracts
  8. So far the only one I've seen or read be impressed by alloytec is the guy in the ad on the dyno, oh and his son in the other ad.
  9. Yeh Rick that's the beauty of bolt on's, but will you just get another clutch? Can't wait to see what a mark 2 can do with the six speeder and all the bolt ons. Is there also a diff ratio change? Keep on killin those 300k commies  . You still have too much money  Cheers Rob
  10. Current thinking on global warming seems to be that it is all part of a longer term cycle (longer than our scientific records - but the trends are recorded by nature in various ways), and as it gets warmer, we will have much more fertile land and be better off. ...and I don't see how we can burn off all the oil in 30 years, especially as if it gets scarce prices alone will slow down our useage (btw. the same fear was held in the 60's, and here we are 40 years later with no sign of it running out yet...) Hope you are right, for our kids sake
  11. I just want to know how the environment will look for our kids if we burn up all the remaining oil reserves for the next 30 years, those that think we haven't half stuffed it already will want to retract their head from the sand, you'll be able to grow mangoes in Tassie

    Help Me!

For a Ford that's a fine effort, great looking vehicle, in that class its looks are second only to the BMW'S, SOOOOOO much nicer than that glorified wagon Expensive Daewoo Adventra thing.
  13. mercturbo

    GT

He He, If that's the case maybe if you get a GT in the same color, she may not even notice, just tell her you just put a different bonnet on. Good luck whatever you do Vik.
  14. mercturbo

    GT

I was just lucky, my wife just loved the look of the GT, you know red and all, bonnet bulge, v8, sound, and that sold her, sort of like an accessory like a hand bag, her only requirement was the auto and I agreed with her. (some chicks can't coordinate a clutch and gear lever ). Sometimes I think she loves the car more than me. There are pages and pages of xrt vs GT discussions, its all been said, test drive one and you'll soon see if its for you or not. I couldnt be happier with mine
  15. mercturbo

    GT

Good luck mate, yeh I too am over the whole manual thing, the auto in mine has had not one problem and seems smoother than when new (think it adapts to ones driving style) and no driveline shunt. Since the Boss has loosened up I rarely bother with sss anymore, I just put the pedal to the metal and hang on, easier to concentrate on steering alone rather than gear changes all the time, for me anyway, also come heavy traffic time I get home way more relaxed than doing 200 gear changes. Good to see you might be joining the red GT club, the car is indeed stunning in that colour, there are a number of photos on the site somewhere of the vixen in various lighting
  16. mercturbo

    GT

Completely flat stretch at 100km/h on cruise inst fuel reading is 9-10l/100km, trip computer average after 13,500k's is 14.5l/100km never bothered to calculate exact figures. 80% city driving
  17. Hey Rick you got them turbo crew's keyboards flappin like hell again, you are quite the stirrer. Yeh mate neither did I buy a GT to run it 400 meters every weekend, rather blast it through some mountains or coast areas on full song, gives a glorious spine tingle every time, never quite got that with xr6T Cheers Rob
  18. Craig that is unbelievable!!! So sorry to hear, that car is/was a rocket, rip all the mods off and bolt them onto the brand spankin new series 2 xr6t insurance replacement, all but the auto mods I spose. Boof was a legend RIP
  19. OOps cancel that, I just read after I posted that its Sat and not Sun and I cant make it, catch up on the next run Cheers Rob
  20. Mark, Macka, I'm thinkin of comin, is that ok? Not 100% at this stage though Dont buy anything incase I dont, I will BYO if I do Cheers Rob
  21. I bought the book at Kmart for $13 bucks, have been on it now for a week and guts is feeling slightly crook, but exercising (brisk walking/treadmill etc, washing brake dust off wheels) makes the sick feeling go away, energy levels have increased which is making it easier to exercise and the "jeans fit" test seems to indicate a slight reduction, one other thing, appetite is signifigantly reduced, so portions of no carb/high fat/high protien are already smaller than the first few days. You feel as though you would like some bread or fruit or chocolate. but you dont crave it, prolly because you always feel full, its hard to explain, but his logic seems to hold true so far anyway.
  22. (Venom XR6 @ Aug 16 2004 10:11 pm)that's not a fact, its an opinion. In my opinion you are wrong, very wrong. The original Monaro looked clean and integrated, the new one looks BA's look heaps better. Ok, fine call it an opinion if you want. Than in my "opinion" YOU are wrong, terribly wrong. The BA is a fine looking car, we all know this, but its only a definite improvement over the AU. To say its a better looking car then the monaro is simply foolish. Do you see BA's being exported or sold internationally in reasonable quantities? NO, why? Because obviously they don't have the same appeal as the monaro does, or all commodores for that matter. Lets not kid ourselves, BA's are excellent looking cars, but they are not BETTER looking then the monaro, or commodores. Just my "OPINION". Hell of a first 3 posts on here Anyway cheers Hector and have a happy life

Congrats Ivan, impossible to be worse than Gadan, steer the hell clear of roos
  24. Yeh congrats to Ian, awsome, simply awsome. I'm sure he appreciates the queer quips here, well done guys, you do the site proud
  25. The nostrils spoil what was a very nice look, they are, well, uuuugly and out of place the rest is ok but, it needs a proper update to halt its diminishing sales, sorry, but the BA range XR's and especially GT's look far better than any Holden, no jealousy just opinion.
