Shakers had their time on v8's its over, I dont like them at all on the GT's, looks like a bulge on top of a bulge, its just too much, the stripes are bordering on too much.

I owned a stock "T" auto for 12 months and now I own stock auto GT (22,500 on the clock) the GT is definately quicker, sounds better, is sexier looking, and the brakes over the stock turbo are heaps better. Both cars have given me no trouble. New boss engines are typically very tight and it took a few months to overhaul the turbo but now there is no contest. I have no figures just opinions from day to day driving and the 3 or 4 squirts I've had against xrt's. Maybe I have a flukey quick GT and had a slug of an xrt. These are my findings make of them what you will, and knowing the forum at the moment, I'm sure plenty will.

Count me in on the 21st, thanks for the offer Craig, what time would you be thinking of to meet up? I cant really hang around too late that's all. Cheers Rob

Not bad for a turbo I guess (only joshin!!) Awsome car Chris best of luck with it, remember to prise yourself out of the seat occasionally to log on and talk to us.

You can buy a GT-P now that will set you back $80k. Problem is the service levels are the same as if you bought a Festiva and that's where Ford have major issues. You are still dealing with the same service manager drongo's and receiving the same"there all like that" statements while having a car with quality issues that are claimed to be normal. l couldnt do it unless Ford got serious about both quality and service and that isnt going to happen. l was contacted by a member from FF yesterday asking me about driveline shunt. He just took delivery of a new optioned up Typhoon and has severe banging from the rear end. He is really disappointed, Ford you are stupid sometimes, the mightly $$$ isnt everything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Driveline shunt in Typhoon, oh no I cant believe you Ford. Mondie are you fairdinkum? WTF is going on FPV how can you let this happen? Rant suit off, spending $80k on a Ford I dont think so, spending just under $60k OTR was painfull enough for GT, but it boils down to the individuals definition of value for money. $80K for an Aussie banger and all the crap that sometimes can go with it (as mondie say's) is over the top for me anyway. That applies to the Lion also. Same crap different brand and issues. I just thank f I have no shunt (or any other issues) in my auto GT

Best looking Aussie Falcon ever and I'm not one eyed or biased (well maybe just a tad). Good shots Al. Young blokes got their mits on the bonnets would have been painful.

Just spent 1/2 hour with my new Halo 2. OMG!!!! If your short of a reason to go xbox have a little play with this little Bungie beauty, I think your mind will be made up damm fast.
-
That is indeed interesting, for a couple grand more retail the GT would still definately be my pick, those Typhoon times one would have to say are a tad disappointing, at least for those (like me) not into modding.

I run an xbox into a home theatre projector and 84 inch screen, 7.1 surround sound system. Xbox games have real time 5.1 dolby digital and the resulting gaming experience is sensational, graphics and sound. there are also close to 500 games for the xbox platfom. Halo and Halo2 alone are good enough reason to buy one, V8 supercars/2, colin Mcrae rally, wolfenstein, red faction, splinter cell, call of duty, Cant comment on PS2 but am more than happy with Xbox

George, if blasting through the otways on full song making my front seat passenger car sick makes me a granny then I guess you're right. I look after all my cars as though I'm keeping them long term, consequently or (luckily) I've had almost nothing go wrong with any of them. What I have is a degree of mechanical sympathy that I hope will avoid all the warranty pain and crap and time off road many members have had to endure, so far its worked for me. We granny's can have fun too George, can't we?

Rob aren't these cars meant to be flogged, l mean that's what they're built for right. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No George, I dont believe they are built to be flogged at all. The difference I belive betwen flogging a car is in peoples driving style, people who start their car in the morning and floor it down the road immediatly every single time, regardless of engine temp, road conditions and with no regard to mechanical sympathy such as holding the brake and winding up revs prior to launch are in my opinion flogging the car. Those who floor it a few times a week or take a fast blast through some mountains, is what I believe these cars wer designed for. I'm sure there is a relationship between people who flog there cars this way and the corresponding issues/failures they complain about, but each to there own, and if people choose to operate their vehicle in this way then sooner rather than later they will be up for big$ in repairs. I've had stacks of fun in the xr6T and now GT and am happy to say they're unmodded, never raced, never flogged in any way, tyres and brakes in both have not needed replace/attention at all in a total of close to 50,000k's. You don't have to screw a car to its limits all day every day to get terrific fun out of them.

Appears to not have any options at all and has heaps of K's, also do these "Auction type" vehicles retain the full factory 3 yr warranty, does anyone know this? As it say's warranty n/a (not applicable) I wouldn't touch it if it were the case, buying a used perf car I would want thorough mechanical testing. My dealer sees GT's half flogged out by 15,000k's, tyres, brakes gone before the first service, xrt's mostly worse. Hate to see cars treated like this after 100,000clicks. My brakes and tyres are still fine after 20,500 k's
-
Although it should be popular with the offroaders, I'm not sure the performance market will adopt it very well, I just can't see it trying to blast down the ocean road or race against Typhs, xr6T's, GT'S, clubbies etc. As has been mentioned it will prolly be another 50 kg heavier than a n/a Terri, bringing it to over 2100kg. As it stands now the AWD uses as much if not more fuel than the GT. Turbo Terri will definately be far worse. Its a family cross over suv, leave it at that, it has no performance character whatsoever, but having said that, I'm sure many will buy it its just a great car. Any Terri I ever get will be n/a, leave the performance/looks/character type vehicles to our beloved stunning Typh/GT/xr6T/xr8.

... at this stage, I'm going with my heart ... Rapid/Black GTP ... but shhhhh, don't tell My Precioussss ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I just dont like the rapid Ken, (who cares what I think) but Black ooohhhhhyyyyyeeeehhhhh GTP 6 speed, would you be getting any stripes with that? Good luck whatever Kenny.

Trust you to bring this up George  I'm a Crownie man, I like the clean fresh taste. Cheers Rob

Disagree. The GT/P is sensational, most of these so called experts and their opinions dont even own one, so the HSV is a few tenths quicker than the Ford down the almighty 400. There is far more to these cars than the golden 400 metre run that gives some people and motoring writers so many orgasms, if you want a drag queen mod an xr6T, if you want a real car, with some real character and that stonking V8 spine tingling roar, consider the GTp Ken. I offer you a drive to dispel all this crap to show you what a boss with some K's on it can do. If your worried about traffic lights spend $5k on Hypnodoc type bolt ons and that will take care of even the new LS2 piston slapper <{POST_SNAPBACK}> sh*t your one eyed Rob  The latest dribble fest from Motor conclude their article on the HSV LS2 by claiming that with some practice they reckon they can break into the 4's for the 0-100km. That is farken fast in anybodys language and more than a few tenths over the GT/P. The new LS2 sounds like a great tourqey engine. there is no doubt FPV have their backs against the wall now, the F6 is their saving grace IMO. If l was in the market for a V8 it would be hard to look past the R8. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Expensive Daewoo V8's have a reputation for being rattly, piston slapping, oil using engines. LS2 may or may or may not be the same. Time will tell As long as I own a GT and have the kind of great performance and service and lack of issues of any signifigance, I will post same to people who are considering this type of vehicle, if that's being one eyed so be it. Knowhere did I suggest Ken not test out LS2. What facts do you have to back your claim that FPV have their backs against the wall? I love all Aussie performance vehicles including HSV ones but I've had such a great run with the Ford ones why shouldn't I post that? It now also appears that the Fords maybe a safer vehicle according an ambo who would know better than just about any of us, another reason to consider other things apart from how fast it can get to 100clicks from zero.
-
The guy with the ambo info on the other thread begs to differ, and if true I agree with him. It appears the Ford could be a safer vehicle, first hand from the rescue guys, not motoring organisation drivel. Some facts would help though.
-
So the extra kilos in the Ford range do appear to give it a signifigant safety advantage over the Expensive Daewoo range. BA Chassis I believe is a strengthened version of AU chassis therefore all the crap about BA being overweight is just that. What it appears to be is a far stronger, better engineered vehicle that will protect people better than the opposition. GT's xr8's might be a tad slower but I/my family might survive an accident and might not in the "lightweight" commo. This is huge information and if proven correct is good news for Ford. I'll be half a second slower down the drag strip but I'll be alive in a stack hooroo yee haa. My microsecond flirtation with LS2 has ended for the next few years anyway.

1. God I love this forum, entertaining it certainly is. 2. I agree with HSE (Ian?) completely on this, (there is a first time for everything!) Every mechanic I know backs his information.

In the 12 months 27 odd thousand clicks I had a xr6T, the discs machined twice and the heat shield rattle fixed, total time off road less than 8 hrs for the year inc servicing, it was an auto. It was fantastic to me. This car still represents best bang for buck in Australia, nothing can touch it. The only thing that got close in my opinion was runout 285kw VY2 Clubbies being flogged off for less than $49k of which I believe there are still some around. I'm no Crummie or Clubbie fan but its a fair bit of car for under $50k. Good luck with your choice

There were a couple of us unable to find meeting times and details of the event, were they meant to be posted on this forum? Or the fords down under forum? anyway, no matter will catch up on the next one. Mark did you find these guys? I was still at the carusel around 2 but might have missed them go past. Cheers Rob

One thing that was so enjoyable on the xr6turbo.com cruises was that it was so informal. A bunch of individuals meet up for a drive/chat and a Barbie. Does this cruise require people to join the new club Fords down under? Or can people just turn up and have a chat with everyone else. I don't have a problem with joining the club, its just that it sounds like a more formal environment/organisation, is this the case? Cheers Rob
-
Damm short cruise but I'll see you all for lunch too!!! Could have blat down the coast if everyones keen. Are ya comming Mark? Cheers Rob
