Hi Rollex, I offer a New Alloy CSC with a Billet Alloy piston instead of the basic plastic piston for reliability, the flexible braided line allows you to bread the clutch without fluid running through the bellhousing and contaminating the clutch. The Braided fluid line replaces the factory steel and rubber line which in its factory position is effected by heat, the Billet Steel Flywheel uses a replaceable ring gear. Mal OPTION 3 PLUS $1,775.00 11" BILLET STEEL FLYWHEEL, 11" HIGH PERFORMANCE PRESSURE PLATE WITH INCREASED CLAMP, 11" HIGH PERFORMANCE SPRUNG COMPOSITE ORGANIC CLUTCH PLATE, HIGH PERFORMANCE ALLOY C.S.C WITH BRAIDED BLEEDER, FLYWHEEL BOLTS , PRESSURE PLATE BOLTS & SPIGOT BEARING , BRAIDED DELIVERY LINE

I worked out how to attach photos, have a look at what can happen with precut heat treated ring gears. Mal Wood

At last we have finally finished our diff cover and brace replacing the Alloy cover, this is a great package that comes as a diff hat and heavy steel braced mount. Mal Wood

Well the clutch discussion is still going and there are a lot of clutch packages on the market, the package that we have been offering for years is in my opinion the best package available and for over 10 years the results are there. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion about what clutch is best and what is the best value, however not all packages are the same! The clutch packages that I offer do not use heat treated precut ring gears as they shatter and fail, ( I have proof via photos but I can't work out how to add a photo ) The Flywheels that I offer are made to my specs and are machined from premium steel and use the factory ring gear. The pressure plate is balanced, the clutch disc has composite organic facing with an insulated hub, the flywheel bolts are ARP, the pressure plate bolts are High Tensile socket head cap screws, the pressure plate locating dowels are machined from high tensile bar and heat treated, the CSC is an Alloy unit with a Billet Alloy piston instead of the normal plactic one that distorts with heat and there is also a braided flexible bleeder that allows for the bleeding of the clutch without fluid running into the bellhousing. I also supply a Braided fluid line with a Quick Disconnect fitting the the master cylinder, an alignment tool and lastly instructions. OPTION 3 PLUS $1,775.00 11" BILLET STEEL FLYWHEEL, 11" HIGH PERFORMANCE PRESSURE PLATE WITH INCREASED CLAMP, 11" HIGH PERFORMANCE SPRUNG COMPOSITE ORGANIC CLUTCH PLATE, HIGH PERFORMNCE ALLOY C.S.C WITH BRAIDED BLEEDER, FLYWHEEL BOLTS , PRESSURE PLATE BOLTS & SPIGOT BEARING , BRAIDED DELIVERY LINE >> Rated to 410 RWKW Mal Wood

Have you changed the clutch fluid lately? Chances are the fluid is black and contaminated, the fluid should be flushed every 10,000K Also get under the dash and rip the clutch assist spring off the clutch pedal, it will feel much better.

Axle tramp has hounded cars with live axles for ever and after 40 years driving I too have had my fair share of cars with this problem however I believe that I have a solution and so do the V8 utes as this racing category uses Mal Wood Auto tramp rods in all of the Ford utes. The issue of axle tramp in leaf sprung vehicles can be drawn out a bit but I would like to give you a list of procedures that I believe reduces axle tramp. You must have good springs and I have tried them all, I currently use Lovells and these have proven to best I have used. Good shocks are a must and most people will not realise that most shocks are stuffed after 20,000k In my ute I removed the rubber from around the spring where the diff housing bolts on, I made alloy spacers that locates the saddle directly onto the leaf spring and I use a heavy plate under the spring and using the factory U/Bolts I bolt it up tight. I then use my MWA Tramp rod kit, this is a bolt on kit with no welding required and no holes to drill, the fitting of the tramp rods takes about 2 to 3 hours to fit and adjust And last but not least I reduce the tyre pressures, on my ute I had 38 lb in the rears and reduced that to 28 lb Overall the ute hooks up fine and all it does is turn the tyres and doesn't tramp. I hope this helps guys so if you are interested I have these kits in stock for $895. Mal Wood

I make replacement tailsafts for both the sedan and ute, from only premium quality components using bigger uni/joints, bigger centre bearing and chrome moly tube, these have held well over 700 rwhp. Most tailshafts for the manuals will cost $2150 and the 6 speed auto FG's for example will be around $1700 as we re-use the front flange. I can't post a photo as my work computer has just SH&T itself, Mal

Well at long last we have the option 3 to fit the T5, what we had to do was make a new sandwich plate that is 4 mm thick (this goes between the bellhousing and the engine) and then step the flywheel face closer to the ring gear and it all fits now. We can now offer the ACE 11'' option 3 to fit the T5 at $1600 and that gives you a New Sandwich Plate, New Billet Steel Flywheel, New 11'' clutch assembly, New alloy CSC, New flywheel bolts and a spigot bearing. This will be perfect for the guys out there with a T5 and wanting a better clutch while saving for a T56 upgrade. Mal Wood

Just give me a call and I will send one off tomorrow if you wish, 0746613548. Mal Wood

Hello Doc. We haven't spoken for ages ( been so busy ) we offer a Chrome moly shaft for these cars and we have built plenty of them so if you want a cost get back to me. I know you shouldn't have to fork out for a better shaft but we do have a solution. Regards, Mal

We now have New master cylinders for just $195 and New Alloy CSC's for $175, after all of the clutch kits we have fitted I have never had a Master Cylinder failure. Mal Wood

The FG is fitted with a Tremec TR6060 and I have reported this issue direct to Tremec and as yet nobody at Tremec recognises the problem! As the only Tremec distributor in Australia we do see this issue often and it can be corrected, but first a few facts.... The issue that you have is rollover noise and can be caused by a few things mainly the build of the transmission, we have found that the TR6060 is built with too much clearance on the bearings so we always strip and re shim every 6 speed that we sell to reduce the rollover noise. The other issue is oil, after testing many oils for months over 10 years ago we found that Castrol Transmax Z was a better lubricant so we have promoted Castrol Transmax Z as a suitable upgrade to the factory filled Auto trans fluid, now most Forums suggest this fluid. The clutch can also cause this problem, solid centre clutch plates, clutch hubs with heavy springs or non insulated hubs, light flywheels etc can add to the problem. However when we rebuild the transmission with correct shimming and use Castrol Transmax Z we find that the rollover noise is drasticly reduced and in most cases it disappears. Ford and Expensive Daewoo are both guilty of sticking their heads in the sand and telling customers that this is normal ( Rollover Noise ) and it is not! We have the solution to this problem yet even though MWA is the only Tremec Distributor we are not recognised by Ford or Expensive Daewoo as an approved service agent so go figure that one! My XR6T has a TR6060 fitted to it, so has my FG GT and both of these cars are wisper quiet. Mal Wood

I have some new front brakes for my BA Turbo ute, they are the Brembo 6 piston Territory Turbo brakes as sold by VSport, and the existing 18'' wheels that I have will not go anywhere near fitting. Is anyone aware of what wheels will fit, I assume I will need 19'' or 20'' wheels, so if anyone can help with photos or info that will be great. Mal Wood

We have seen quite a few of these tailshafts broken and we usually build new complete tailshafts using chrome moly tube, if he does no good I can build him a shaft. The tailshafts are very poor quality and even though I have an FG GT that has only 19,000 on it I am going to build a New Shaft for it just to be sure. Regards, Mal
-
The NA clutch is only a 10'' and if you want a better unit you can fit a flywheel and clutch from a Turbo, this clutch is far better and is a 10.5'' I can supply such a clutch and flywheel. Mal

I see these quite regularly from excessive axle tramp, what I have done with my ute is fit our Tramp Rod kit, remove the original plates and rubbers between the diff housing and the springs and fit a solid base plate. By doing this you will tighten up the rear and it will not move around and you will stop the tramp! I also did fit a True Trac centre which gave me better drive, I have found that the ute now holds to the road better and even though it can fry 285 wide tyres with ease in 2nd and 3rd it is far more controlable! I would post some photos but I always stuff that up, so if you email me I will send the photos of what I have done and you can post them if you wish. Mal

Strange Noises And Rattles Off A Fg Manual Gearbox
6speedXR8 replied to fpv_f6's topic in Driveline Workshop
It is odd that the gearstick only rattles in 4th gear, you should check the basics, start with the transmission mount and crossmember and also the the tailshaft. If all seems well there then drain the oil and check the condition of it, look for metal in the oil. Call me if you wish, Regards, Mal Wood -
I can supply one of our High Performance Tailshafts made with Chrome Moly tube and only Premium Quality performance components, these tailshafts are $2350 and will hold 900HP. Regards, Mal
