FG Interior - Leather or Vinyl from Factory
Stevebag replied to Stevebag's topic in General Car Talk
Hmmmmm......I ordered an FG II XR6T with leather trim.......it wasn't the lux pack - but a standard XR6 with optional leather....... not a poverty pack taxi or anything like that..... order form says leather - reckon I have any use complaining to ford that it's not full leather? Must admit I'm disappointed - with 3 young kids spilling sh*t everywhere - I ordered and paid a hefty price for leather for its clean ability and durability - only to find out its vinyl in parts. bastards! -
Hello All, Noticed a small tear and stitching coming apart on the rear bench - the centre seat panel you sit on..... Took it to the Trimmer - confirmed rear right and left seat are leather - but for some reason the centre seat is vinyl..... Anyone retrimmed or knowledgable on the leather in the FG? Should it be full leather on the seat face? Trimmer was dumbfounded - could only guess it was damaged at dealer and got a partial retrim in vinyl? Car was a new purchase - not second hand. Trimmer didn't think ford would use vinyl ex factory? So he was surprised. can anyone share any knowledge on trim materials and use ex factory from ford? much appreciated steve

Hi All, Car has just gone for its 75km service.....love the car - but certainly had some issues. Thankfully - I bought mine new in 2013 when VF Late model camira had just hit the sales floor - there were tumbleweeds rolling across the Ford salesroom floor due to the just released VF - so Ford even pitched 5 year warranty at me to get the sale (phew for that). Main issue I have is showing the service tech the issue happening - can be a pain in the arse when its intermittent problem! I have resorted to video taping stuff with the phone to show them. And number of times I have escalated through Ford Customer Care, I have lost count. So far I have had everything fixed under warranty - and only because I have been a pain in the arse - taking it back time after time, complaining, wasting their time....they have tried to fob me off, claim its ok, claim its not a warranty issue......each time I disagree, ask them to 'put that in writing', take notes of all convo's, throw back some of the promises they made with date and time, never give an inch - and I have won out each time......key message here - is Take Notes, be descriptive with problem, time and date convo's, ask for stuff in writing - be the biggest pain in the arse you can be - and it may just get fixed! All work done by Byford's North Melbourne. Greg (workshop guy - was a star) - replaced him with a pimply 18year old girl - I kid you not! (Put Greg back on the tools) New steering rack (had a light knock / rattle, only noticeable, so I took it in. When they inspected they - they noticed a slight leak as well - they replaced without me even asking, so all good) Cruise control switch - faulty - would power up 'arm' the cruise, but 'set' buttons would not set speed......intermittent....turning car on and off cleared fault....took a few trips for them to find it - in the end I took a video and showed them. 3 years later - cruise control switch again - a common problem? Diff - slightest whine when cruising speed and get of gas - they replaced it without even asking.....workshop manager said - for us to remove it, pull it apart, diagnose it, fix etc - its just cheaper to turf it and put a new one in. Left front window (squealing) - motor replaced Now the right front window (squealing) - motor replaced Cigarette lighter charger thing in the console - replaced Glove box console lid bent - replaced Rear bush's stuffed - replaced Transmission - after 3 years - when trans cold, was hesitating slightly on take off......took it in - they said it was low on oil....I enquired - 'where did oil go - it wasn't leaking?' - they said 'no idea so we topped it up and now operating within spec'. I'm not happy with this response......and its short shifting ever so slightly between 2nd and 3rd on part throttle......took it back 4 times, being an absolute pain in the arse, made them park it on the street this cold Melbourne winter - then took service manager for a drive when cold, and it short shifted....finally he couldn't ignore me.......transmission taken out and sent to Sydney for a $4.5k rebuild by ZF.....its still with them and Im still waiting 2 weeks later! I have now learnt - that the extra 2 years is not Ford Factory Warranty but warranty Ford has taken out on my behalf with Allianz.....so all approvals now go to Allianz. They have been baulking at the transmission rebuild. I called bullsh*t with Ford - said this Allianz topic is not in any of the paperwork that came with the car - in fact my invoice says 'Ford Factory Warranty - 5 Years' and threatened to take them to small claims....they agreed to fix the transmission. It just leaves a sour taste in my mouth having to argue with the dicks ALL the time to get stuff fixed......its draining - I bought new, never modified and always Ford serviced - and this is the way they treat you. Latest - coolant return hose split - refused to replace it as its a wear and tear item supposedly......so I escalate to ford customer care....send to me in writing the 2013 warranty booklet that came with the car.......then show me where it specifically excludes that particular hose....then show me in writing what constitutes wear and tear on a hose versus manufacturer defect...and finally - show me the assessment that was carried out on my particular hose - how did you deem it wear and tear as opposed to defect.......all in writing please......guess what happened - they changed hose free of charge.... Do love the car though - just cant stand Ford Warranty! Rant done. Steve

He he - fck bag - that line alone made me feel better What I don't get - most low life inbred imbeciles would be pilfering chev badges.....I can't believe they would have enough class to target the XR???

Remove Top Vent Grille On Dash?
Stevebag replied to Stevebag's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
Rab and Bendoco, Thanks for the info guys. Got it out using Rab fishing method. Got a magnet at $2 dollar shop (outta a packet of magnetic kitchen cupboard latches) - was out in a matter of minutes.....Yay!!!? Thanks guys! Steve -
Hi - has anyone removed the top grille on top of dash - the one with the sensor for the auto lights? My two year old has dropped a nail down there, and if like to get it out - knowing my luck if I leave it it will jam a fan or vent flap or something and cost a crap load to repair ...... Unfortunately a magnet didn't quite reach it Does it just clip in? It's really flimsy so I don't want to pull to hard until I know how to get it out Any help would be appreciated Steve

Hi All, Well after a few months - I finally got the car into ford and left it there for 4 days. Cruise control is now fixed. It ended up being the steering wheel switches. Looks like a batch of faulty switches. They had an old scratched pair that they used for fault finding - and they worked perfectly. They then had to go through two new pairs to find a set that were ok.....hence the delay...... As a precaution - they also changed the switch at brake pedal - cause service guy said they notoriously crapped themselves also. Oh Joy - I have my cruise control again...whoo hoo!!! Steve
-
Masada 74 -!Yeah I was aware that the cruise needs to see a brake signal.....I'm in the city, so no issue from that point. On the brake straight awY! Thanks for the link f wolf.....all seem to focus on brake switch..... If anyone else has further suggestions - keep em coming. Will let you know what ford says when I get it in.

Hi All..... Any help muchappreciated. I am having intermittent cruise control issue. Have searched and read a number of posts, taken it to Ford, and want to pick your brains....any suggestions much appreciated. Description: Near new FG11 turboIf I turn on cruise and engage the cruise within a minute or so of driving - it acts normally and sets.If however - I happen to jump in, and drive for a little while before engaging and setting cruise, it wont workIt powers up the cruise, but it wont setPull over, turn car off and re start, and works fine againYesterday at ford - service guy daid he was stumped - it threw up error code B10AC-1PLInternet indicates that B10AC, Circuit of cruise control switch faultyQuestions: Anyone had similar issues? any wisdom to share? Most common discussion on forum is the brake pedal switch. Would a faulty switch really do this intermittent fault?I assumed faulty switch would just go 'hard/permanent' fault? ie - not reset when I turn car off then on?Dont believe its hand brake sensor as someone else mentions - as I get no handbrake chime / light come onSomeone mentioned ICC firmware update - may have caused a cruise issue? What is the link between ICC firmware and cruise?Someone mentioned OBD port / stuff may caue cruise issue? What is an OBD port, and why would it potentially case cruise grief?Mention of phone bluetooth potentially impacting? It seems to have me sumped....certainly the dicks at ford are stumped.....they asked me to leave the car for two days next time so they can get to the bottom of it. I dont want em ripping the car apart guessing - so if anyone has ideas....such as.... start with brake switchthen try ICC firmware updatethen try cruise moduleetc etc.....they really seem to have no freaking idea! Ta, Steve

Hi All, Had the turbo in for some warranty stuff today.....damn cruise control playing up Anyway - they gave me a Territory, Diesel, White, Tinted Windows, 10k on the clock.....and check out what pops up on the screen on start up. Thought some one may find it of interest.......now just need to wait for the 'cop chip' chatter to start in earnest?

Lowering Ute Whilst Remainaing Able To Tow
Stevebag replied to (Locky)'s topic in Suspension and Handling
I only tow a caravan with a sedan, and left everything stock......Why not just get a set of Hayman Reece load levellers when you are towing the big load? There is a whole post on towing, with guys towing big boats, may be of interest....load levellers are great for my restricted needs. -
Hi Guys, Whilst away on business - I couldnt help but stop through a ford dealer for a bit of a look.....this dealer was chock a block full of new and demonstrator (with low km's) turbo's - both XR6T and G6ET....and not bad prices on road for 2013 plated I reckon....I even took some happy snaps for ya......my favourite is the Mars Red example - of course!
