Here is a BA/BF front sump oil pan. You can see how much of a clearance issue there is with the front sump pan. I decided to try a different method. Instead of dealing with the whole motor I just bolted the oil pan to the transmission and used the stock transmission mount to locate the engine front to back. This made modifying the oil pan a LOT easier.

I finally had a little time to work on this beast. I am still waiting on my FG rear sump oil pan so I can't do much. Just more wiring harness removal, A/C lines removed and a good thorough cleaning. Don't worry, the A/C will be making a comeback in the future after some custom lines are made. Top is dirty bottom is cleanish.

I haven't had much time to work on anything but homework and studying. But I was able to sneak away from all of that and start cleaning up the engine bay. I pulled out the engine wiring harness and and the harness for the lights. I will be doing a full wire tuck and weld up all the unnecessary holes while the engine is out. I will also be making new brake lines and converting to hydro boost for a cleaner look.

I'll be doing a full build. Forged pistons, rods, ported head, vale springs, ARP head and main studs. I'm getting the car running with a turbo on an NA motor just to get the bugs worked out, then dropping in the built motor. I'll be using 93 octane around town and E85 on track days. I'll be using 1000cc fuel injectors, 3 in tank 400lph fuel pumps with the necessary fuel lines, and fuel rail. I just don't know what size turbo will get me to my goal.

The cheapest FG intake I found was $500+shipping. So its over $600 by the time its shipped to me here in America. I'll be porting the hell out of this intake and eliminating the flappers. I'll probably end up making a forward facing intake similar to the PlazmaMan or an RB26 with the front facing TB. I mainly did this out of curiosity. I want to see what I can do with the stock intake. Several reasons. 1. I don't like the 2 hard 90 degree turns these adapters require. Hard 90 degree turns hurt air speed. It probably won't effect rear wheel HP, but every little helps. 2. I don't like the way it looks. 3. Cost, I see the relocation kit sell for $350+shipping. Shipping it to America means it will be almost $500 for a relocation kit that I don't like. Flipping the TB only cost me an hour and a half. 4. Curiosity and boredom. I have been wondering if flipping the TB would work. I had free time so I decided to give it a shot.

American here! I have a few Barra questions.

I just sent you a message on here. If for some reason you don't get it you can contact me through this facebook page https://www.facebook.com/NievesSpeedShop/?modal=admin_todo_tour -
Here is the cad drawing for my Mod motor to Barra transmission adapter plate. The Mod motor starter location interferes with the block on the Barra. So It will be blocked off on the transmission and become a structural mounting point. This adapter will use a Mod motor starter rotated to mount in the Barra mounting position. This will require a small notch to be cut out of the transmission. I will post pictures of the first test piece soon.

Barra build in the U.S.
Mustangman570 replied to SelectivePC's topic in Conversions, transplants and Frankensteins
I was hoping they were the same, that would have been perfect. Thanks for letting me know about Boundry having them in their catalog. -
Well hell! If you are ever up my way let me know. I'd love to see your car when it's done. Check out my FB page. I set it up to show some of the cool builds I have either done or helped on. https://www.facebook.com/NievesSpeedShop/?modal=admin_todo_tour Administrators, If sharing the page is not allowed please let me know and I'll delete it.

Barra build in the U.S.

By any chance is the 4.6/5.4 billet oil pump gears the same as the Barra? I haven't opened my motor yet to compare. -
Thank you on both accounts. The car is in desperate need of paint but its a SOLID car with no rust and I'm only the second owner. I did the 5 lug and rear disk brake conversion when I first bought it about 5 years ago. The lift is probably the single best tool I have ever purchased. I wish I would have done it years ago. I work full time and I am also working on my Mechanical Engineering degree. I had a ton of homework this weekend so I was not able to get any work on the car done. I will have more updates this weekend. I just found your build. Its looking good so far. It looks like you went with the separate and ship method to get it into the country. Slick move! I brought 7 motors into the country I've sold 2 so far, so you might be seeing more Barra builds soon.
