Hi All, Relatively new to all this, so bare with me if I sound like a bit of a noob. Recently bought a BA MkII XR6T. The drivers side lock seemed to have failed as I wasnt able to open, close or lock the car. Replaced the whole lock and electric gear. Thought all was well but it still doenst want to lock. It seems like the locking pin doesnt want to go all the way down, gets stuck and pops back up tirggering the horns. Heard this is a common problem, but why is it still happening after replacing the lock? any advice? Thanks guys Alex

Youre all going to laugh! Just dropped it off at the mechanics, he hoisted it up straight away and had a check. The ringing was coming from the heat shield and the bracket on the last two bolts of the heild shield not being tightened down. so that was nothing. The best part, the massive sucking noise, shaking and stalling all came from too much air getting in, tirgering the sensors. The lower pipe connecting the intercooler had completely come undone and was flapping around without a seal. The other side was alos loose. All that worrying for nothing hahaha. Thanks for all your help, ill write up exactly what he fixed when I get the car back.

Awesome thanks for the invite! Is it held every Friday?

Hahaha so ive heard, the BA can be quite a tempermental machine. Im in the innerwest area of sydney, around concord. Ive got a local mechanic who has worked on a couple before. But anyone who knows these cars well would be a priority! Thanks No light comes on at all, and other than that issue it drives really well. Would I be best to sell and buy a BF? Ive heard theyve fixed a few bugs in the newer model.

ive also noticed when accelerating, its making like a fluttering sound, like intermittent whistles. Doesnt sound too good!!

yeah ill have to get the mechanic to run the diagnostic test and see what problems come up. Ill defenatly keep you updated! let me know how yours goes too.

Oh no defenatly more than normal idle. It has a similar feeling to when your just about to stall a manual, that violent shake. After I turned if off and on again it was back to normal. Just seems to happen after I push it hard. Ive just had the engine mounts replaced so ill have to look further into the wastegate. Did the rror code come up on the diagnostic test? and im guessing it didnt light up on the dash either. Thanks for all the feedback guys, great to get some knowledge as im very new to all this!

Thanks Phantom Im going to go get all that checked out and ill change what I can. Ive bought Earls Turbo Oil lines which im going to replace as ive heard its easier to change and check the filter. I do notice the turbo making an irregular whistling noise, certainly doesnt sound normal. It is my first turbo however so im only comparing to what ive been told. Thanks for the help, much appreciated!

No its completely stock at the moment. Dont think the previous owner had done anything to it either. A mate of mine said it might be getting to much air triggering the sensor? Valve spings, ill have to look into that. Thanks!

Hey Guys! Im very new to this so fogive me if ive posted in the wrong place. Ive recently bought an 2005 Xr6 Turbo BA mk2. 150,000k's on the clock. Before purchasing I had a vehicle inspection done and it came back positive. However the other day I noticed quite a different whistling sound from the turbo. It almost sounded like it was ringing at higher speeds. I let the engine warm up and gave it a hard go. It got up to about late gear 3 around 90kms and the whole turbo cut out and the cars speed dramatically dropped. I pulled over and the car was still slowing down, shaking as if it was about to stall. I turned it off and back on and it was fine. This hapepend twice after I gave it a bit of juice. Ive heard this could be the TPS or another sensor, but I was wondering if anyones had the same problem?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Alex
