I feel the same way but will give the auto its dues and test drive it. I must just be getting old but find the manual tiring to drive as I use the car as my work vehicle. Cheers Doug

I had the same feeling with the manual XR when new, but was alot happier after a couple of months when I learnt to drive it better. I guess we are all good at blaming our tools. (Hope that came out ok!?) As I do about 35 - 40km per year I found that the manual also started to get tiring when driving hence thinking about the auto next time. Anyway, will drive both and decide. Thanks for your help. Cheers Doug

Yip, currently have a manual, always been a fan of manuals, can have more fun in them. I ended up leasing this one which was good and bad. Bad cause I want an F6 now not in 6 mths. Good as I drive it harder than if it was mine, all care and no responsibility. The lease company will sell it for around $25. It will have about 75km in it and is an 05 Mk2. Standard apart from some aftermarket 18s I put on it. Cheers Doug

Hi Guys, my lease is finally expiring on my BA XR6T and am looking at purchasing a new F6 as there are 2 available at $57,000 NZD (which is around $48k Aussie). No extras, totally stock. They are both in black which is not my favourite as my current one is black and I vowed Id never buy black again. Anyway, at that price I have reconsidered but I am unsure of heading down the manual or auto road?? I have loved the manual in the XR6T but have heard great things about the auto in the F6. Both are available at around the $57 price. Any comments? Thanks Doug

Thanks bud, did you drive the Phoon before purchasing the Evo? Would I get sick of the Evo doing 40,000 kms per year? I have a friend who has an Evo 8 and he thought I might find it a little tiring after a while. The XR is such a great cruiser. Love the new look of the concept car, hope it doesnt look too different at production. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I made sure I drove the phoon before I decided with the EVO, but the EVO stood well above the rest, even the new STI. I have already done 3500kms in the EVO and I am not sick of it yet. The EVO 9 drives much better than the EVO 8 as I have driven both as well. The EVO 9 has much more torque than the EVO 8 and responds much better as well. You can virtually go around the corners in third gear and accelerate out of them with ease. I would be more than happy for you to come around or meet up and compare. I am in Sydney though. What you will find that it is smaller for your passengers compared to a Typhoon. It doesnt bother me and I have a wife and 2 kids. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the offer to meet up but Im in NZ. I will definetly drive both before deciding anyway. I just found out it will cost $10k to get out of my lease early so will ride it out for the last 18mths and check out the Evo 10 and F6 then. Thanks again for your comments. Will keep in touch closer to the time, cheers Doug

Thanks guys, you've confirmed a few of the things that I was worried about, like comfort on longer drives, Im in the car for 3 - 4 hrs every 2nd day and the fact that it is so much smaller in size, yes I do have small kids. The Evo over here (NZ) is expected to be about $60k retail while the new BF Typhoon is $72k retail (that's like 150 sheep!). Do you think its worth getting the BA (run out) with the FPV brakes and save some bucks or wait for the BF which has the Brembo brakes standard but pay the extra for the new model??

Yeh because its easier for him and his habibi boys to out run the cop's around bankstown but put it on the M5 and it gets eaten by 2 tonne GT's GO DA PHOON!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Looks like you and XRSEX have some unresolved issues? Im 6 3" and wonder if the Evo will be too small? The Phoon is definetly the tougher looking car eh.

dont want to burst your bubble there wee dougie, but that pic is of the "concept x". not saying the evo x will be much different, but that's not the definate finished product so it may not look quite like that. I read on one car site the front will definately be redesigned as well as the interior and other details before production. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks mate, yeh realise that, I heard the headlights will also be basically like the old Evo 9. Is still going to be a nicer looking model than the 7,8s and 9s (in my opinion) Great to see some European styling coming through. Is the only way I can wrangle one as my company car!!

I have my 05T going in for its 15k service next week and have heard alot of members mention extra power gains after servicing by getting things like re-mapping etc done. My car is running fine but is there anything I should be getting the dealership to do that could improve performance (apart from trading up to a Typhoon!). Cheers

Thanks for the comments guys. I do about 40,000 km a year in my XR6T and have never got out of it feeling tired, scared and shaking maybe but never tired. I think the Evo may be great for a short time but will become a bit of a go kart after a while. I will just have to drive the 2 and compare. Have tried to attach a pic of the Evo X, you must admit is alot nicer than the Evo 7, 8 & 9 !

I have an 05 XR6T which I am stoked with but cant wait till my lease runs out in 18 mths to get a Typhoon. All your comments make it sound a great car, noticed several people saying the new BF will be a bit more expensive, any confirmed prices? I also saw the new Mitsi Evo 10 due for release around the same time my lease expires in 07, will have to compare it with the Phoon, it looks alot more European and less boy racer which is about time. I know, I know, go the Phoon!

Thanks for that, Not normally a fan of yellow but it looks great on your Phoon! Cheers
