  3. top work mate, I am a huge wiki fan. Some articles I have contributed to: TISM You Am I Tim Rogers Turbonegro Victoria Bitter Will be adding chunks to yours as well!
  4. how could quad pipes ever have a detrimental effect on performance or aesthetics! I don't surpose you could get the pagani zonda pipes?!
  5. Meh come and show them why if the japanese had ford falcon taxis to buy from the junkyards, they'd never drift silvias!
  6. Ahhhhhh, Bill Hicks...There is a man who is sorely missed. No one knows what it's like...To be a dustbin...In shaftsbury....with Hooligans Lumpy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes you live in hobbiton and I am Bill-bo-Hicks. . . .! Bill-ze-bub!
  7. Nice... I love the sig's here... always good for a laugh!! Good work Jack <{POST_SNAPBACK}> bugger I just changed it! I wanna get a good rotation of 'lock stock' quotes in there. But yes it's very true. As Bill Hicks used to say: [george hw bush impression] er Irag have incredible weapons. Incredible weapons! [hicks] how do you know? [george hw bush] er we checked the receipt. But as soon as that cheque clears, we're going in!
  8. Mate, there should be about 12 vacancies on each day so you should be right anyway. Having any more than that would simply be unfeasible as you'd get about 5 minutes on the skid pan each. But have a chat to Kevin Flynn and see what you can work out. 0413 540 197. Best of luck.
  9. Hey fellas. For those of you who would like to get yer backside sideways on Melbourne's very own skid pan. It's in Attwood about 10 minutes from the Melb Airport. You'll learn shvt tins about sliding and have heaps of fun doing it too. dates: saturday and sunday the 25/26th of Feb cost $120 for 4 hours of slideways goodness. Last one we did, we had my t there and yoda's 300kw jobbie. He ended up sliding pretty well by the end of it. There was also a dorifto spec 180sx and we usually get the import contingent en masse. So we need more xr6ts to show em what sliding is all about. For more info http://driverdynamics.com/skidpan.php contact details are on the above link
  10. good to see mate. Good to see!
  11. xr8 old mans car xr6t young mans car Simple! Especially in larger fleets, it's always the old baby boomers who get the xr8 because they don't trust this new fangled technology and are too scared of what their mates might think. So keep the buldge in your pants and not your bonnet! It should come with a free bottle of Just For Men and a Cold Chisel tape. That and the fact that the v8 is bits of several US truck engines and the turbo 6 is for all intents, all oz. Im sure you guys remember the reason why, but my North American buddies can't work out for the life of them, why we didn't get the Mustang SVT v8! That alone puts me off the v8.
  12. Heh most older japanese imports come from the country where cars go to die. On heaps of import yards web sites, you see many of the cars are all but dumped in paddocks in Hokkaido or Okinawa or some wayward part of shizuoka, where the tax is a lot more lenient on older cars. So your basically buying some crap that's been rotting around for years or some uni students have drifted the absolute crap out of. So yes they're shocking quality! Of course the ultimate irony is that japan imports v8 Expensive Daewoo utes www.holden.co.jp. Why not the xr6t ute and the pursuit!
  13. Pretty damn easily. Heads, cam, exhaust, CAI and edit. Idles very well, pulls 6th gear from 50km/h on the flat, and still gets 9l/100km freeway cruising. People bag the LS1 but it's a very easy engine to get big power out of. Look at Street Tuners 7psi single turbo kit, getting 355rwkw on a stock LS1. And the LS2 is much better. I'd love to see how well an XR8 would go with the LS2 rather than the breathless 5.4 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Somehow chevy v8 small blocks defy all laws of common sense. Pushrods and two valves per cylinder for example. But I am loathed to admit for a 40-50 yo engine, it mods up rather well and puts some turbos to shame in modability just because half the chevy gene pool has them.
  14. Monaros have no boot and go great with a receding hair line if you're a baby boomer. Also the fact that in the commodores most basic form, it's positively agricultural after a year. Ford has a little more refinement. To a large extent, I don't think it's too subjective either. Look at the centre console in a t and then compare it with an ss or a monaro and the choice is obvious. Ford gives you a much better car for your money.
  15. This is why I used the "I had a mate" clause in my reply. Kinda similar to the fifth amendmant in the US. but seriously is $6K on the money?
  16. 300 ks a tank? Bloody corolla drivers. Ok so I get about 350 kays tank. I must be a bloody lefty pinko
  17. I found the most economic speed to be 81km/hr. Just when the overdrive kicks in. Boring but I had time to spare on a trip one day. Travel with the cruise on the highway saves on fuel and speeding fines. Having the auto change under 2000 rpm could help but remember when yuor at 100klm/hr your at 2000 rpm anyway, unlike the NA version at 1750 rpm. My worst 12.9/100, and the best over 520km was 9.85/100 on cruise. I tend to agree with others that you don't buy a T and then look to save money on fuel, otherwise you would have bought the NA version. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had a N/A BA XR6 before I got my T and the economy when on the open road is better with the T than the N/A. Best out of T 620 k's to a tank. Best out of N/A 580 k's The N/A also cruised at 2000 rpm like the T it's the XT's and fairmonts etc that have the taller diff which gives the 1750 RPM at 100. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Admidedly, cruise control on 110kph/6th gear in the t is fantastically economical.
  18. Sorry buddy, my CEO pays for my fuel. And I make sure he pays for it.
  19. Can this loss be offset by putting some "nizmo", "HKS", etc decals all over the car? all the fast cars seem to have them, I was wondering how much power each decal is worth, on average, I know the big ones will add more power, but how much? I feel I could be so much faster with a few here and there. Oh, does colour make a difference too, cause I can get them in red or white? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No you need the Jetpilot sticker. More commonly found on a beat-up old holden, but would have the same performance gain on a ford. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh please I live just off toorak road and you can set your watch to the first bogan that cruises down from the suburbs with a jetpilot sticker and a p plate on friday night. I am a bogan from the suburbs, but that's a different story. . . .
  20. Bro, wat if youse have got teh neonz and stickers. Stickers add at least 5 rwkw. Neons increase that incrementally.
  21. I am about to get shot here, but having driven an r32, albeit very briefly if you don't get a Bayside Blue R34 GTR, you're selling yourself short. It's the last of the generation. Mazda and Nismo can almost hold a candle to Porsche for their sports car pedigree. As Steven Tyler said "the difference between us and other bands is that there into jerking off and we're into fcking". Suffice it to say the XR6t if freaking great but the GTR is sublime. And no gents, I can't afford one otherwise I would have one! The N Tune especially. Gentleman, ready . . . aim . . . .
  22. And how long have you been working for Ford's PR department?!
  23. Something fishy going on here... You say "the top end let go", can you please be more specific? Also, a new long engine isn't quite $16K, more like $6K. More information please. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mate, many years ago, a mate of mine was an apprentice toyota mechanic and I remember him saying a replacement crate engine for a starlet was around $10K, so it sounds plausible if it was a 100% new ford engine. Something about some cvnt that didn't fit spark plugs correctly on a 13 grand car, the engine blew and it almost cost the market value of the car to replace and fit the engine. Not to say that a guy that's working in a factory in Bayswater (and there's nothing wrong with that) can't build you a whiz bang engine that gets 900rwkw running on bourbon and farts for $16K but car companies aren't in the business of making friends. They're in the business of making money. In the words of Henry Ford Snr, "I'd give everyone a model T for free, if they promise to buy their spare parts from me.
  24. last word on the xr6t. Yesterday a mate and I test drove a few er 'modest' cars. We took out a Chrysler 300c hemi, a mazda rx8 and a madza mps, plus we had a tour around a lexus is250 (you have to book infor a test drive) Cut a long story short, when the 300c goes from 4 to 8 cylinders in less than a nanosecond, the grunt is fantastic. But the car is so cheap and chintzy inside made of the finrst chinese plastics that you'd never see the Mercedes underpinnings. The Mazda 6 MPS is 6 wolves in a sheeps clothing. It's like bringing a porcelain gun to a knife fight, it's such a sleeper that goes like absolute stink. But does very little in the eye candy department. When you sit in the RX8, you get a real sense of drama. Drive it the way I drive my XR6t (like a very blunt instrument) and it makes a glorious rhapsody of rotor bark and tyre schreeching. But for once in my life I was glad to get back in the t and thankful it wasn't me buying the new car, it was my mate. Because no car had the torque spread of the T or is so effortlessly grunty to drive. So for now, all gripes are forgiven with the XR6t, It's a far better place to be than a 300c unless you're a chinese plastics expert that failed interior design at uni and did a TAFE course in shortcomings. It's absolutely awful. P.S. MPS absolutely flies. It would easily give an XR6T a run for it's money!
