My XR6 has suffered from the same infliction that my Fairmont had...The hand brake, although working perfectly in stopping the car moving forward....if I park on a slight incline the car can easily roll backwards...in fact you can put the handbrake on and just push the car backwards however try to roll it forward and its like a rock....I did mention this at service however they found no fault as they only tried the handbrake for stopping the car going forward..The hand brake probably pulls up <5 clicks Anybody else had this... Is there any type of recall (XR6T 2005 BA) Is it easy to adjust the handbrake yourself ? cheers rob

I am keen on getting the car lowered and want to know if I get the SL /SSL combo if the ride is going to be any harder. My concern is the comfort level of the rear passengers as the stock setup is quite firm and I'd hate to lower it and find the kids chucking

bad inferno replied to bad inferno's topic in Suspension and Handling
Thanks for the responses.....It corners sooo well you quickly forget how much of a change it has made and assumed it should of always been like this. It was a 5 minute job thanks.....didn't really need to get under the car, it was easier from the sides. rob -

I have received my whiteline 27mm front sway bar...any tips on installation ? I did have a quick look under the car and it seems a very simple job...on the basis I can get underneath the car . Suppose I'll just jack up one side. rob

I have noticed on my manual BAII turbo that when pulling up at lights the idle can go as low as 300rpm then come up again to find a steady 700 rpm. It does not do it all the time, I had thought last week I was getting lazy with the clutch and not engaging fully however its definatly not that. It seems to be getting worse and today I thought it was going to stall. its only for a short time when the foot off the accelerator and its coming back to idle. If I'm travelling along at 80klm/hr place in neutral with foot off the accel it seems to go to 700 rpm very smoothly. Anything I can check before I get ford to look at this. thanks rob

These do look great if I can ask a couple of questions: 1. Is the screen clear with the amount of light streming into the windows or do you have window tint ? 2. Can you easily see the screen ie when you are not directly in front of the unit. ie sitting behind the front seats or are the kids leaning into the middle seat. 3. Whats the head phones like as far as sound quality ? 4. Does the picture jump, if you go over road humps (train lines) cheers

At least I know I'm not alone ! It's really no drama...however is more noticable in the cold weather. My first winter with my T thanks rob

I have noticed that my 6 speed manual has been feeling "notchy" from 1st to 2nd and probably going into 3rd as well. The gears don't grind at all however just feeling tight. Probably started quite a few months ago, the car has now done 30k...would of expected this during the first 10k however what would cause this....should I talk to ford about it ? or be happy with a tight shift ! I treat my grear box with respect, no mods. (at this stage) cheers rob

After paying 397.00 for my 15k service in melbourne, I was wondering what people have paid for the 30k. Just a straight service with what I assume is oil change & a turbo manifold retorque, (no tyre rotation) rob

I have what I think is a heat shield rattle comming from the engine bay at about 2.5k rpm. I just had a look and when I just knock on the rear heat shield it does vibrate. If I remove the bolts holding the heat shield on does anything else drop off ? I think its rattling where the heat shield goes around the rear engine lifting eye. Any tips for rectification cheers rob

Accuracy Of Trip Computer Readouts
bad inferno replied to cro142's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
don't really know however have come to this conclusion: In the old days they could just measure the flow into the carbie with a simple flow meter, very accurate. However now with fuel injection and a pressurised header and return line you cannot measure the fuel supply anymore. I think they just use an estimate based upon injector frequency. rob -
Saw an add for dick smith (stock to arrive late March) which they had a standard 40mm long globe with 4 blue leds installed inside. This could be used for the interior light. Jaycar also had lengths of blue leds mounted on a flexible circuit board that are suitable for 12vdc. thought these could be good foot lights.

I have been driving a BA MKII now for 4 months with the luxury pack that includes the sports leather....seats with the suede insert with circles. Anybody else suffer from a bad back in these seats ? Although they are firm the seat seems to not make enough contact with my lower back ...the lumbar support is too high...although I am 6'3"

Can someone point to the thread that explains how to take the dash apart to fit the gauge panel and maybe some pics on where best to connect...I have searched for the last 40 minutes !

OK Had a look at my tyres today after my service they rotated (Charged front to back). Now I've noticed that my front passenger is almost down to its wear markers, with the other three tyres looking like they still have 75% tread left. 1. Is it normal for one rear (passenger side) to have more than double the amount of wear than the other rear tyre. 2. If a tyre is worn more than the other three wouldn't you think they would keep it on the rear of the car and not move it to the front ?

Just make sure they do all works including re-torque for the A service. on a turbo does take 2 hrs "book time" with wheel rotation

Phone up to complain about the GTX2 They stated it was an error on the printout and that they either use magnatec & pentoil (or something like that) Charges 96 /hr ex GST so my 240.00 labor charge is correct however got find a place with a cheaper rate. The book states the servcie to be 2 hrs and they did do everything. ~$400 for a normal service ~$500 for a major service. I'll take my own oil next time, tell them not to use any additives and just pay for the 2 hrs labor

I don't know what they did at the 15k service besides updating the ECU however my clunking days are over....

Do you think the oil viscosity is a problem ? I would like to take it back and force another oil change to 15-40 however getting there is always a problem I checked the manual and it states a warning about using other viscosities what do you reckon ? I hope they do a survey ?

They also fixed a high pitched vibration (exhaust) could really hear it with the windows down when driving close to wall. (Freeway centre partition) The report stated they welded the exhaust shield. I think I can see that the exhaust shield is in two pieces and they have spot welded them together.

be happy with the car you have or go spend 4 grand at AWC for the F6 front/rears...You'll end up with the most expensive F6 on the road...its an ever increasing lease cycle if you end up paying an extra 25k ontop of the price to drive the F6.....hang on a couple of years. You've lost the most resale in the first 12 months

The reciept states retorque of inlet and exaust manifold, plus they did rotate the tires... From the manual Service A = 48 min, tyre rotation 18 min, turbo inlet/ex 54 min that's 2 hrs and they actually charged me $237 ex GST (270 was incorrect above oops) Labor 237.00 Oil Filter $15.13 Engine flush 13.10 fuel system cleaner 13.10 engine oil GTX2 $62 Shop supplies 15.00 Environemntal 3.00 PLUS GST $36 Total 397.55
