  1. just gave it another run in lower temps as it was 30 deg today. It held boost for a while longer, very quick then again ~4,000 rpm lost boost and could hear an exhaust fluter. Its not the same noise as the BOV when you back off. Where is the boost solenoid, can I test it ?
  2. Today the car developed a problem. I gave it a little stick and was accelerating and it was like I hit the rev limit, the car stopped accelerating however I was only at ~3500 rpm. Car felt strange it was running however had little power, like the handbrake was on so I pulled over into a bus lane and the car just stalled. It started again instantly, It drives and idles fine however when under a little load and the turbo kicks in you can hear the exhaust cough and loose power. If you accellerate smoothly / slowly it does accelerate to 5,000 rpm OK. I have looked at all the major large pipes around the cross over, turbo and intercooler and it seems all connected. Any ideas, Stock BA with hotdogs and F6 intercooler.
  3. I am looking to replace my rear shocks (XR6T BA 120klm).I think RRP is somewhere like 600 for Koni red at the rear. Seemed high, anybody got any suppliers and indicative pricing they can pm to me. I am in Melb SE however would buy from interstate if required. rob
  4. I not quite sure if its really called the lower arm however its the rear arm that connects to the hub onto the chassis near the diff. I have noticed even when the car is on the road (not jacked up) I can reach under and I can move the left arm by 2-3 mm by slightly rotating it. Does anyone know if there are bushes in these arms where the connecting bolts go through ?
  5. I just noticed that my stock plenum is just sitting on the rocker cover held by the piping. The two rubber mounting posts that I can see are broken in the middle and there is no screw on the rear mount (don't know if that one is broken as well. Are these mounts easily broken or common to fail. Is it easy to replace them ? thanks
  6. thanks guy's. I will probably keep an eye out for one with lower klms. However the manual versions do not seem to come out very often.
  7. I am looking at an ex ford executive manual XR6T FG which has done 20k klms. Drives and looks OK, a little suspect as it has a brand new set of tyres. Would of preffered to see the original tyres however know the Dunlop sports only last 30~35000 klms.. It has a shorter shift gate than my BAmkII 6 speed seemed very direct. The clutch was either in or out very different to my BA. Drive train seemed very quiet, no clunk ! and very responsive. Is there anything in particular to look out for with the FG's. I currently have the suede sports seat in the BA, the all leather feels like it will get very sweaty I think it was a march 08 build, has there been any recalls or factory updates in the last year ? Anybody had any bad experience with these ex Ford cars.
  8. The GPS does show the time, however I also think Ford maybe able to reprogram the icc to show the time on the screen. ANybody seen teh time on the colour display ? Must be used int eh FPV as there is no clock.
  9. I trust the pictures tell the story. really functional as its easy to use and looks great. I was planning to run the power cable down the back of the dash however had trouble and did not want to pull the dash apart. The power cable actually just squeezed down the LHS of the facia. and connects to the back of the lighter socket. Used a single hex cap screw to hold it in place. A Dremel enables you to cut out a small section at the top of the clock mount to also hold lock it in palce Could not believe that the 1/4" thread held against the mount, just by using the existing clock mounting tabs. I used some Selleys "Knead it" cement to make sure it all stays in place. It is REALLY strong
  10. I have a 2005 BA with the sports leather. Done 110,000 and the drivers seat has a number of creases in. The seats are the ones that have a "lifesaver" in print, I.e. circles and the leather is not just the smooth. I was wondering if you can get a new outer skin for these seats and maybe get it re-stuffed. Does anybody know how/where to get this done. I am in South East melb. rob
  11. Ford quoted me $110 for liner & clips, a month ago. looks like I should shop around
  12. Thanks for the heads up... Any recomendation on what to buy..or what not to buy... I'll try supercheap or autobarn in the morning
  13. Hi, I had been thinking over the last month the starter has hesitated to start, however now when I turn the key the starter just clicks. Whats the chances of it being the battery ?. the car is 4 years old I did 1500 klm this week so I assume the battery should of been fully charged. rob
  14. I am the proud owner of a new navman, and like the bluetooth facility. As the GPS has a sound output jack and I was wondering if I could plug this into the aux port of the premium colour ICC. ? I see a aux connector on ebay for 25.00 I didn't know if the ICC can switch over to the aux automatically if it senses a signal ie automatically switch to the GPS if it is saying something ? or do you have to hit the AM button twice to enable the input. I understand the phone kit automatically turns off the radio and enables the pone sound through the icc. rob
  15. I installed aFPV cooler today, just an swap over everthing just lined up OK although it was FPV-BA to xr6-BA.... Was able to do it without taking the front bar off. rob
  16. Is this worth the money ? Does anyone know who makes this unit. I am looking for an IC to give me upto 280kw and the "look" http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-XR6-BA-BF-Typh...1QQcmdZViewItem
  17. I am due for a 75k service and was wondering if it is posible to fix a noise I'm getting from my clutch. When I release the clutch when taking off from a standing start I get a noise for about 1-2 seconds when the clutch is engauging. Perfect any other time with no slipping. Is this type of noise something that can be fixed without taking the gearbox out. If I takeoff reving to about 1500rpm and smoothly theres no noise, however increase the revs to 2000 or on a hill start and the noise is there. I do not think its the thrust bearing as the noise is not so high pitched. The clutch has not had a hard life..stock XR6T which I think I've driven OK 6 speed BF mkII cheers rob
  18. Thanks & appreciate all the rersponse, I'll go down and give them all a go. cheers
  19. I have tried a number of car repairers and they are only interested in insurance type work. My rear bumper on my wifes car has the paint removed when some has backed into her. The bumper is still straight just needs a paint. Anybody know where in Dandenong area they would be interested in such work. ? cheers rob
  20. I am thinking of getting a GPS and was wondering if I ditched my analog clock and got a std filler (the bit above the center air vents), I maybe able to mount a the GPS swivel on there. It would also already have 12VDC right there that was for the clock. Someone must of done this..... ? Would be a great molding exercise instead of the gauges.
  21. I used to back off the accelerator all the way and then back on to match the revs as I engage the clutch...It seems I do not need to back the accelerator off all the way now.....I am not suggesting to do this under heavy acceleration....it just seems to help match the revs again as you change up. How can this be harder on your gearbox..?
  22. Its a BA MKII and tried it on my Euro which is also drive by wire however sure enough it just rev'd out not like the XR6T I'm not saying floor the accelerator however in normal driving just push the clutch and change gears, the revs stay the same until you engage the next gear.
  23. I've owned the Manual 6 speed T for a couple of years and just worked out I can push the clutch in without taking my foot of the accelerator. Supose this is drive by wire stuff...The last manual I owned (ok 20 years ago with twin side draft webbers) could never of done that without rev'n the guts out of the thing. Its a lot smoother now changing gears in normal driving....Must try it with our Honda euro
  24. I purchased the silver rear vent $50 and the silver drink holder $120.00...cannot find a silver manual gear surround..that's the bit I may have to paint ? ANybody got a silver manual surround piece? What silver paint did you use......? and does it match perfectly ?
