  1. Hi, I have had a small coolant leak for some time and probbaly used 1 L top up in 12 months, so not a lot. However when changing the oil yesterday I noticed some calcium type stuff built up on the sway bar and up higher on a wiring loom. Although I could not see where it come from looks like its somewhere under the turbo side of the engine. The heat shields and exhaust was blocking the view as to where it was coming from. Is there any water hoses etc around (under) the turbo ? XR6T FG Thanks
  2. What did you end up doing ? Mine is the same only 70 k on the clock, and noticed I have to change driving style as it only takes up in the last 1" of clutch travel
  3. I had hoped for a pbr kit however they stopped at ba bf, and don't do the fg Is a daily ride so braking is just ok as stock Really looking for the yellow or red caliper under the wheel. Had a look at the copy 'dark agent' in 19 which I assume would work however at 1,300 a set it just adds to the overall brake price and I would end up paying a total of 3500 and still only have 4/1 pot brembos

  5. HI I ahve the opporuntiy to get some near new 4 pot / 1 pot brembo kit from a new F6. Only thing is I do not know if they will fit under my XR50 19" rims. I can remember reading that there is something stuffed about these rims, offset or general clearance however am hoping someone could advise with respect to 4 pot brembo fronts. Assume the single pot rears are just about the same as what I already ahve, just red caliper Cheers
  6. Just did this also last weekend. ~1.5 hrs including a trip to autobarn for some replacement scrivets. Could not believe how easy the front bar comes off and obviously the f6 just bolts in, that part is probably 5 minutes. I would recommend before starting get replacement scrivet things, the 3 that clip the liner into the wheel arch on each side. They a sh*t to try and remove and keep like new. There are 3 each side, the larger Christmassy tree ones holding the lower mad flap come in/out just fine as do the ones holding the grill in place above the radiator.
  7. I did mine a month ago although they replaced the center with another resonator (not hotdog). This was on recommendation from Dandy Exhausts. As its a manual sounds great decelerating and no drone. 2010 Manual FG XR50T
  8. Just did this mod tonight and also put some roadkill mat on the parcel sehlef. Decided to put the mat on top of the shelf was not sure underneath or on top. Anyhow it filled all the holes and got it all abck together. Just silicone the surround back onto the new speaker. I ended up putting two original screws back in and then just drilled the other two through the parcel shelf adn put in two self tapper screws. My only concern is the wiring, blue & green as I have read green is +. On my ford sub connection (+) is engraved ont he connection and was connected to the blue wire ? I also understand it has worked better reversing the wires on the standard sub.
  9. I now understand the opinions of some and realise the investment required $1,000 ~ 1500. At this cost I now have to weigh up the best bang-for-buck so current thoughts are to put the intercooler on hold (get a std tune) and spend that money ~1500.00 on springs/shocks which at the moment provides a better investment than intercooler. Thanks for the coments and will look out for a 2nd hand intercooler or probably get a PWR at $1000 and use existing pipes mid next year, whilst I followup suspension options.

Yeah, Its difficult when there is no agreed mid range in upgrades, or I suppose 1K for an intercooler is classed as midrange What I get out of this is: factory intercooler or 1k or wait for a second hand one to come up. Ill wait a few months and if nothing turns up might just do the tune with the stock unit.
  11. Just looking for a base tune on the 2010 FG XR6T.. I have the GT intake/K&N + center resonator + I want to upgrade the intercooler prior to the tune next Jan. Now not chasing "real" power just an edge on what I currently have. Its a daily driver used for work and can easily justify 300 for an ebay intercooler.   12. Its when you push the clutch in and the engine is under no load whilst changing gear. The engine is coming down from ~2500 _ 2000 rpm prior to letting the clutch out and the engine does not sound "smooth". It's not a mechanical noise, clunk or BOV. When you change or push it a little more and change >3500 rpm the engine sound when the clutch is in and its loosing rpm's just sounds a lot better. The sound could be an exhaust harmonic, that's the best way I can explain it.
  13. HI, I have just picked up a new FG early Dec and has ~1000klm on the clock. I have noticed that when changing gears at around 2,500 rpm I get a slight noise which is not the same as when I change at >3,000 rpm. The noise could be engine, exhaust or clutch it kinda sounds like its an imbalance in something although nothing actually vibrates and its not that loud its just "different" to the normal sound of the engine when the clutch is in and the engine decelerates under no load. rob

  15. My ebay coils came from a ford dealer in SA ~220 posted from memory came within 2 days. I also noticed on the back of a recent invoice from Ford dandenong they have them on a great special.
  16. Hi, I asked a trimmer if he could reconstruct my drivers side seat bolster. I did not realise however you can buy the seat pad including bolsters in one complete unit. Apparently fitment is easy for a motor trimmer I just got quoted $220 for a new foam pad for the drivers side. Does anybody know which company acually makes the ford seats. ?   17. I was washing the car a couple of days ago and my rear window started to "bleed" black goop. It stopped after a while however how can the rear window seal be so runny. My son used the high pressure wash so I can only assume he got too close to the gap between the window and roof and broke the silicon seal, although it all looks OK. ANybody had this happen ?
  18. Hi I was thinking of painting the lower rear of my rear bumper, just the piece that runs under the bumper to the exhaust. ANybody got a pic of a similar paint job, I have a standard BA MKII bar. I was after the paint code for the metallic grey that I think is used. MY coulor is velocity. cheers rob
  19. Thanks for the feedback Installed 6 new coil packs tonight and from all accounts seems very smooth acceleration from 2k - 5k again. It is a cold night here in vic (14 deg) so maybe just good conditions for a spin or maybe I didn't notice it before however I can also provide a much smoother gear change (its manual ) at higher revs as the car now seems to take off again when changing gears and not hesitate so mcuh whilst waiting for boost.
  20. Hi, I was hoping to puchase a new silver facia (ASL) for the radio/heater controls and already have the cup holder in silver. I was wondering if anybody knew the paint code for the silver as I need to paint the trim around the gear stick. I am also worried it will be too glossy. ANybody done this before ? rob
  21. The cars done 120k and the plugs got changed 10k ago so by all accounts the coils will not be lasting a life time from what I have read. So I bit the bullet and have orderd 6 new FORD coils. I'll fit them on Thursday in the hope they fixes the problem, if not its gotta go to the doctor !. rob
  22. I'll see if I can get someone to take a quick look at the error codes tomorrow, although day before cup day may be difficult. I did WD40 the boost solenoid however no change. As I can't find the coils I believe they are under the cover on the rocker cover ? I assume over boost would be registered in the ECU as a fault, what about coil trouble does anybody know if that gets logged ?
