Hey Jack, I had much the same problem with AAMI as you described. Difference was, I was already with them with my XR8. I done my online quote the morning I was picking up my xr6t, and that night got home to advice aami of my change of car.. The lady said that car needs a driver over 30. I argued with her for 10 minutes regarding what the online quote said. Basically that their system ISSUED a QUOTE they should be obligated to it. I even spoke to the supervisor who said the same thing, their online system should not have allowed that quote etc etc. Personally, I was not going to push the matter on the fact that if I needed to make a claim, that's a easy way out for them... I even called up the following day (with a different quote number, I tried it all again), and spoke to another dude.. Same Result.. Since my xr8 insurance was 1 week from being expired, I cancelled it there and then, and Rang RACV. No probs there. Personally I would not have pushed it with AAMI on the basis it could cause a huge sh1tfight if you had to make a claim. Danny.

Turkey Slap, and capa flash box .... Never would have seen the day they were related D.
-
No, as soon as you put one of your tunes (F, 1, 2, or 3), your dealer updated firmware is lost
-
hehe, 1 minute too slow But yeah, it demonstrates exactly how you can get found out using my example before.. Danny.
-
The Flasher box only reads the PCM code once.. And stores it in the F location. You can tell by the way the 4 LED's flash when its reading or writing.. They "chase" in the opposite direction when its reading or writing. If I recall correctly, when they chase left, its reading, when they chase right, its writing to PCM The only time it will re-read the Factory code is if you clear the box. Which any dealer can do. But you only get 4 shots to do that before the box needs to be sent back to capa.

Danny, bit of danger here with your statement...... Are you are suggesting that owners should leave the EDIT tune in the ECU when leaving a car for service? tom. ← Hi Tom, No, that's not what I ment. Give this example I buy my car, A3YA code on my car when purchased brand new I flash my car. A3YA gets read from my PCM into my flasher box's F location, and a modified one gets flashed back in. My car goes for a service, I flash F back onto my car, which is A3YA Dealer Flashes my car to the new firmware, A3YB I pickup my car, and put my "hoon tune" back in.. which is A3YA Next time car goes for a service / warentee claim, I put F back on my car, thinking ford wont know I've edited it. Ford plugs their diagnostic tools in and guess what code they read? A3YA (which was stored in F location).. With me yet? Ford will have on their records they flash upgraded my car from A3YA to A3YB.. Personally I have no intention of "stiffing" my dealer, Altought all my mods are going to be done with Nizpro, who do their own warentee on the engine / turbo.. Nizpro also have a good relationship with a Ford service centre (unsure which one). So any problems like the rear power window motor failing wont be denied because "your cars been edited mate" type story we hear here again and again Danny.

I agree.. but there was a hardware change in the BF.. Its now a Spanish Oak pcm, not a Blackoak (using MPC565, rather than a MPC555)... So there's your hardwrae upgrade But never the less, the Flasher box reprograms the PCM the same way fords diagnostic tools do... So does that mean when they flash a new firmware on your car, it throws the "edit flag" and next time you get black flagged? I think not.. The only way I have seen people get caught out is putting their "stock (F) calibration" back into the car after ford upgraded it the last time to the latest.. Danny
-
G'day mate, I can tell you straight away the quality of miss_aly's PODS are awsome. I have seen a number of installations now, and they are beautiful. Danny.
-
When the Flasher box first Reads your PCM, it stores that code version. If ford flash a newer one on, the Flasher box WILL NOT update the "stock" code in the box. That means, if ford updated your code in your PCM, and on your next service you return it back to "stock", you are infact downgrading your code back to the original one stored on the box. Ford Service centres cannot see the changes in the "tune", they can only see the catch code from the wds etc. So if they see it has gone backwards compared to whats stored in their computer records aganst your car.. that's a instant alarm bell to its been flashed. Danny.
-
that's right.. If you buy your car, and you have code A3LA on it, and then you flash it, the flash box stores the code A3YA in the stock location. After a couple of "services", ford update the flash on it, and bring it to say A3LD. Now next time you go for a service, and you flash the Stock code back in... What code are you flashing back in? Then ask yourself this. What code do ford know they have flashed in? Doesnt take rocket science to work it out Danny

Ok Guys.. if anyones interested, I've got a spare set of FPV Pods. brand new in box PM your offers Pickup available (vic/eastern subs) Danny.

as per my last post.. At auto barn ask for.. VDO 230.032 (it hink.. 1/4npt male and female with 1/8 npt for autometer oil presure).
-
Boost you t-piece it off the bov oil, you use the supplied oil sender presure sensor thingy.. And you need a t piece, VDO 230.032 (it hink.. 1/4npt with 1/8 npt for oil presure). allows you to run both sensors.. 270 degree sweep on oil would be good... I was also thinkin about geting pyro temp.. or airfuel.. but a/f is pointless as its not wideband Danny

If I didnt get my hands on the fpv pods, miss aly's one would have been my next prefrence.. I cant stand the drill/screw holes in the SS induction one. nor the fact its not a pod type design.. danny.
-
Keep us posted if you do.. I've got couple of mates on the "waiting list".. Danny..
-
I dont.. But FTP Auto Salvage has a waiting list for them if you wanna call up and get them.. I believe if you goto fordforums.com.au and goto the sponsers you can find out more info there.. Danny.
-
Approx $250.. If you can get them from ford.. Danny.
-
with custom. auto is approx 240rwkw, manual is 260rwkw.. Given the fact both will have same power @ flywheel.. Manual's just Dyno Higher figures.. But it also depends on how lean the tuner wants to go with the standard injectors. Danny.

You hook it up to the Illumination line which is easily accessable behind the "Fog Lights/Traction control" Button to the left of the steering column. Otherwise, you could put a resister inline with the illumination power on the guages. They are LED's so they will look fairly uniform when dimmed Danny.
-
Here is some pics of the old removed Autometer Rings for refrence.. Danny.
-
from the back side of the guage, using a flat blade screwdriver lifted the lip all the way around so its no longer "crimped".. The original ring will then come off (with a bit of effort depending on how good you lifted the lip..) I then got the glass, and glued them to the fpv rings.. Because of the position of the guage in the pods, the FPV rings clip nicely on in place. I'm running the illumination to the dim line from behind the "spotlight" switch.. that way it will dim with the dash dim. Ohh, the Pillar using fpv pod will look great !! Danny.

<cough>My FPV Pods...</cough> Looks good with the cobalts in there hey?? Danny

BSPT just to be anal.... British Standard Pipe Thread. National Pipe Thread. Could have got it for you for free.... ← Yeah. well the chick at reece was cute, but I wouldnt have quoted her on the BSB/BSPT.. But yeah. NPT, national pipe thread.. I will keep you in mind for next time :> Danny

No, Made that harness up. Never seen a OEM guage in action to comment. but from what I recall the OEM boost guage does not have PSI markings.. Yes. I fitted them using the original Autometer Rings left on, but the diameter is a little too small. Plus, they dont look anywhere near as good as the FPV rings.. Danny.
