  2. Well. Given latest change of plans, the engine build might not be completed until december as it looks like I'm flying to Florida for the PRI Show :D
  3. Haha.. God, you always make me laugh I see your still hung over from last weekend!
  4. Careful justin, I might just smack ya in the face But yeah.. Feel free to copy what I did, and then get Jim to drive to go faster. Don't worry, I'll do my best, then make Jim drive my car as well!!
  5. Yep. Its still the same engine as per that came with the car. I haven't done a comp test, but she still purrs at idle, and runs without a beat, without producing much blowby/oiling the inlet via the PCV setup. Keep in mind, my cars only done 68,000k's.. So its not exactly a High K BA. The reason why I ain't pushing this motor no more is because I'm near completion of rebuilding a engine that let go. And the cost of replacing the broken parts I feel is prob something I should avoid :D But in saying that, the bigger turbo does produce less torque lower in the rev range, so its actually a bit of relief for the engine now. In the next couple of weeks, I'll be uploading pictures of my engine rebuild, and engine install.
  6. It actually made 398.6rwkw previously with 17-18psi with the standard turbo. In my tune, I have another load site above the desired load/boost which rapes the timing in the event of a over boost. Essentially 22psi is over boosting compared to the previous 18psi.. So quite frankly, I was quite surprised that it made the power it did with barely any timing.
  7. Oh, And Can't forget this.. This is how I modified my Surge tank for a second 044 fuel pump. And I have modified a mount so both pumps are mounted now.
  8. So, I've been rather quiet lately. To say the least I've changed jobs, been there 3 months now, and have been trying to make ends meet, even though they keep moving themselves. I've kinda neglected my car and its ongoing mod upgrades.. But rest assured, I have done some more changes. I think this first picture will explain where its started.. Oh noes! its gone! But I'm sure this can fit! With the last picture, You can see, this is where we dummy'd up the turbo into position before making the extractors. All the Fabrication work was preformed by a good mate of mine, Jason. He has a 9 second LPG powered XE, and is known as "GASMAN". Another angle. Hrm... Or do we use a T51R instead of the 42? Here you can see Jason has completed 4 of the 6 runners. All spot welded into place. Another angle. Completed and painted Setup on a dummy engine with the 4" dump and external gate Back into the engine bay.. The beauty thing about how Jason works is how fast he does things. Friday night is where I removed the standard turbo setup. We dummy's up the GT42's position, and I left the rest with Jason. The extractors were completely welded by the end of Sunday night. He didnt really get much work done on them Saturday night, Plus I was at a wedding getting Sloshed. The Monday and Tuesday, the Dump pipe was being made and the external gate fitted. Everything was ready to drive out Tuesday evening, But I purchased the wrong dash6 fitting for the turbo, a 90 instead of a 45. So It was done Wednesday. Now in terms of tuning. The engine is still the standard engine. I haven't altered the tune at this point, But I did run it up on the dyno to see whats going on. 22psi, 380rwkw, and 12.5:1 afr's... Yep, no typo's there. At least there was no detonation.. The 22psi of boost was straight off the gate, so surprisingly to Jason, we had a boost creep issue. Since then we've removed the extractors, and altered the wastegate entry pipe, and how it feeds to the wastegate. Got much more controlled boost now :D To come.. Engine build photos (I wont post them until its completely done).
  9. They changed to a diff rear end because the transbrake was breaking the driveshafts/cv's Blueboost has yet to use his transbrake... And yet his getting the same 60foot times, if not better?
  10. is that trade or retail from atomic?
  11. Yeah.. At what cost? If the 460bb studs are the same length as needed, then its something at half the cost...
  12. Yeah well, the 460bb has 2 different size head bolts/studs used.. on the same head at the same time..
  13. Nice work.. Do you have standard size head studs? Or, you machined the block for bigger ones?
  14. Ahhh.. Yeh, they aint the Albin's ones.. The cv ones are complete driveshaft replacements yes? The albins ones only address the inner CV problem, and 300m shaft (optional)
  15. I believed he used the same CV knucks and cages I did, from Albins offroad.. Correct me if im wrong Dave
  16. John has a transbrake! And still had issues getting it up (onto boost) But yeah, more information has emerged.. Johns wastegate feed pipe had a massive crack in it. Jasons Exh housing was also cracked (where the v band was welded on, T04 housing onto GT42).. He knew he had a leak, but he didnt think it was the weld until closer inspection. If this was their problems? who knows.. its a long shot, but now that watch these issues get sorted and them both get back to their 9's as they were.
  17. John was in the 14's ...... Jasons was low 11's both had 60foot issues getting good 60foots john just cruised the last 1/8th when he saw his 60foots
  18. Most common mod is a Walbro swap out with the internal. I wouldn't trust the internal pump with my life at ANY power level.
  19. Siemens make these injectors for 2 markets.. VDO being their retail brand, and then sell them wholesale/rebranded to MSD / Mototron / Edge Products I have heard of "Fakes" and "Chinese rip offs" and "Copies"... But I have NEVER seen one. Chinese can copy things real well.. Turbos included.... But trying to copy a injector to the specification they need to be.. I'd like to see that day.. They'd be better off making their own injector and branding it as their own. When I hear people refer to their injectors as "Genuine", I believe its associated with the Fact it comes in VDO retail Packaging.
  20. There is no need for aftermarket C1 clutch, it just wears out. The fix is more pressure, Via tune, of valve body modification. Also, there's a bit of shaft bleed in the seals which feed the C1 clutch. There's a few tricks there, Either steel seals (no after market versions are available... But a smart autobuilder will know what to do) or teflon seals which everyone uses, which are better than the factory seals. My box has to cop the most hiding out of any owner of a 4speed auto I know. Its not bulletproof. It has been rebuild 3 or 4 times now. The failure point is the Plantery gears. As for frictions wearing that, That does not happen no more. We have identified the combination of tune and valvebody modifications which make these autos from spitting the 2nd/4th Gear band, or excessively wearing the C1 clutch (3rd and 4th gear). But quite simply, The shifts have to be firm at light throttle applications, and HARD during Wide open throttle applications.
