The problem with these cars, and any aftermarket shiftlight is they DO NOT WORK correctly. Ecliptech Shift-I "Sort of" works, as it wires into the fuel injector.. Problem is when you decel, the injector stops injecting. thus is looses its RPM single (when the engine is winding down from 6000rpm to say 2000rpm).. This is why I created the interface box, which plugs directly into the CAN BUS, and watches the RPM messages from the PCM to the Dash, which occurs every 20ms.. Regardless what RPM it is. I've only created 3 units (the minimum PCB's required for the order), the firmware took a few hours to create, and once I finish the sleep mode, I will be testing a few more. Problem I have is, I could get more PCBs made, but as it is Surface mount components, its a absolute bitch to hand assemble. If I was to do a production run of this, I would need to commit to at least 500 for a company to pick/place this for me. Currently the RPM output pulse is only 1pulse per RPM, which the shift-I can be configured for. However, 5" monster tachos need either 2, 3, or 4 pulses per RPM (4cyl, 6, and . So I've incorporated 2 dip switches into the design ,and need to test this also. On another note. I've sniffed the can bus of a VE commodore, and identified the RPM message there. So I can support VE Late model camira as well.. (Do not know any earlier Late model camira owners to verify if this message is present on earlier) As for making / Selling more of these? Depends on demand, which seems high. But my importance with this is if I can support multiple vehicle types, as each vehicle has its own specific message.
