  1. One in HgAg.....
  2. Does anyone really think that it's acceptable to have to 'heel-toe' or double-clutch a $60k car to get it to feel like a $60k car? I don't . . . . so I've booked it in with the dealer to have another look at the driveline tolerances! My driveline has felt 2 years old since it was about 2 weeks old. Feels nice when you drive it hard, but creeping around in traffic or slow speed zones is a pain in the butt. Regardless of how much of a performance car it is, surely it shouldn't be rocket science to drive it smoothly!
  3. What do you mean by the transmission lash disappearing? Are you driving any different? My phoon has about 7k on the clock and the lash is as bad as it ever was. Pretty much the only thing really pissing me off about an otherwise great car. Oh yeah......very nice pics by the way. Love 'em with the hardcover!
  4. I'm quite relieved actually. Having purchased an '05 model only a few months back, it would be disappointing if the new model was a lot different or superior in such a short period of time! Can be pretty sure the current model will have pretty good resale value for at least the next 12 months....then it may be time to look at the '07 model?!?
  5. Another happy customer If you're anything like me, streets will seem a lot shorter now and you may find yourself cruising past your own driveway cos' your not quite finished with the drive........or is that just me?
  6. Noticed some small stone chips in my front bar today........I guess you can get matching paint pens or similar to fix these......might need a box of 'em by the sound of it! I near choked with laughter when I read about your FPV badges getting sucked into the vacuum. I know how pissed off I would be at $200 a set! My mats were fitted by the dealer as an afterthought and they didn't put the studs on the floor to hold them in place so it keeps getting jammed up under the clutch! They're gonna fix it next week though.
  7. Ten days have passed and the new phoon is coming up on two thousand kms and, as family and friends predicted, I got booked within the first week of ownership. Had I been in the work vehicle, the cop probably wouldn't have bothered giving chase........they attract all types these cars! As far as a running report goes, I'd pretty much reiterate the report F6_Rapid submitted a few weeks back.....lots of brake dust, difficulty in mastering the clutch (getting better though), gearbox getting smoother, etc. The first 900 odd kms was primarily spent around town with some good blasts here and there. Everything nice and tight like a new car should be. Acceleration is still very impressive. Particularly like cruising off from the lights in first and then planting it, resulting in traction breaking, neck breaking acceleration leaving you scrambling for second. Just returned from a 900+ km round trip during which I noticed the damn driveline lash kicking in. Primarily occurs when travelling slowly through round-abouts where you're coasting a little and then ease the gas back on. This really p*sses me off! Although, from reading these forums I had sort of expected some form of lash, I didn't think it would be as prevalent as it is. Had some driveline lash experience in an EF a few years back, but being auto it wasn't as noticable. Definitely more annoying in a manual. Has anyone had this fixed by their dealer? Was it successful? I reckon they could probably program some of this out in the engine control. Seems that the fly-by-wire throttle kicks in a little quick in some situations where you only want a very slow progressive opening. Funny thing is that it is very difficult to conciously make it do it! All in all, I'm still absolutely stoked with the car. Love the look, love the interior, love the performance, love the handling, love the turbo whistle and wastegate sound as you scream past a fellow motorist........still a very happy camper. On a side note.......something my dealer said during delivery has been playing on my mind. Pretty sure he's confused, but someone here should know. He said that the engine management on these vehicles is adaptive. They are supposed to adapt to your driving style. He was making the point that if you drive it hard, it will adjust and go better in the long run. If you take it easy all the time it will take a long time to adapt back to performance driving. I'm pretty sure that he's getting mixed up with some auto transmissions........can anyone confirm?
  8. Mercury Silver F6 has gloss engine bay paint, but it's more dark grey than silver. Under bonnet and bootlid is the same as the body though.
  9. Yeah.....any particular crazy sheilas in Newcastle that you are referring to?
  10. Yeah....what SavageD said! I knew a little bit about the F6 when I wondered into the showroom for a browse. Strolled past the GT and spotted the F6 in the flesh.....wow! Wasn't really ready to buy, but the dealer insisted I take it for a drive. Ordered one 3 days later! Definitely no regrets.
  11. I think this is normal for these? I also commented on this when I picked-up my Typhoon, but then did a walk around another F6 and a few GTs at the dealership and they all looked the same.......assuming you mean what appears to be a very slight alignment difference on the contour where the door meets the guard. I reckon that if you look hard, you can see the same apparent difference on the FPV configurator page on some colours.......or maybe I'm imagining things?
  12. Congratulations Terebro. Nice colour choice! The Tornados look particularly good with the hardcover.
  13. Looks pretty good. Wonder if the gear is primarily designed for the V8s? See: http://www.johnboweperformance.com.au
  14. Finally stopped long enough to get some piccies today. These things certainly turn some heads....... Have shrunk them down a bit, so hopefully they don't take too long to download for people on dial-up.
  15. Love that acceleration! Will try to get some good pics over the weekend. I'm pretty cautious with cold engines and cringe when I see guys fire up their cars and flatten them before the starter motor's had a chance to wind down. I like your suggestion with the oil pressure gauge F6 Rapid. Will keep an eye on that.
  16. When I picked up my F6 yesterday, my local sales manager was kind enough to give me his seat at the Ford V8 Superbreakfast held this morning in Newcastle. All of the Ford drivers were there. Most of the talk was about the racing, etc. . . . . which you would expect, but I managed to have a brief chat with John Bowe about the Typhoons. He said that they are very impressive car and he also said that they will soon be released in an AUTO!! Matter of weeks apparently. As much as I like an auto, I still like the exitement of driving a manual performance car.........even if the auto would be quicker over the quarter!
  17. Thanks guys.....sounds good to me. Would be frustrating nursing something with so much potential. I'm from Newcastle V8_FRD. How about yourself? Anyone done the FPV drive day recently? What's it all about? From what I heard, you get some driver training and an opportunity for some fast laps in your car?
  18. The wait is over! Picked up my new Mercury Silver F6 today. I gotta say, these things really haul ass for a production car. Havin' a bit of trouble with the 6 speed.....pretty tight and too many gears! Asked one of the FPV service technicians about the best way to run the engine in and he said just drive it hard if you want it to go hard. Sounded like a bit of a risk to me, but he drives one and said that he services the local XR6-T cop cars which are driven hard straight out of the box and always go better than the ones that are babied. Any comments? I thought I'd go midfield.......take it a bit easy with a few good blasts in between! Anyway.....another happy camper!
  19. Haven't made it yet.......just one more sleep! Thanks for the welcome Blonk. I like the Mercury Silver myself, but I haven't seen an F6 in any colour that looks bad. The little FPV add-ons make them all look good! Lucky we've got these forums to entertain the appetite during the wait.......just one more sleep!
  20. Just took out a policy for F6 with AAMI. Cost was $1178 for Newcastle age 35. First time I rang the quote was $1380. Second time I got the $1178 and signed up! Same quote with GIO was $1530. Now......if I can just make it through to tomorrow afternoon, I'll finally have the Typhoon
