HI all, Can anybody shed some light on the above topic? If you go to Ford's website and 'build and price' your Falcon there is no longer the choice to option in side airbags like there used to be a couple of weeks back. The Falcon 'specs and options' PDF still list side airbags as an option, but these things are 'subject to change without notice'. Rang a couple of Ford dealers to confirm, and while they stated it was still an option, a couple didn't seem too certain. Any help much appreciated thanks Nick

HI all, Just wanted to clear something up. Does the BF XR6T come standard with the Typhoon-style 2nd CAI that is installed under the headlight? I have rung a couple of Ford dealers, even spoke to their technical service dep't, and they couldn't tell me. I even checked to see if part numbers for BA and BF airbox were the same, and I was told they were. So me is a bit confused, cause I assume part numbers would be different, if you had a 2nd CAI pipe going to the airbox in the BF?? If anyone could shed some light on the matter that would be great Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered, but I couldnt find it during a search. Nick

Thanks for the replies and info everyone. Looks like I am on the right track for pricing. I'll give a couple of car brokers a ring as well and see how I go. The only thing I am a little hesistant about concerning car brokers is the ability to haggle on things such as accessories . Ie - I assume the price they come back to you with is not negotiable, so you can't haggle about getting some accessories thrown in (fllor mats, headlight protectors etc), as you could with a dealer? I suppose if they come back with a better price than a dealer for all accessories included it doesn't matter! Nick

In looking around for a manual BF XR6T, I've been quoted between $47-$48K on-road. Is this a reasonable price to expect to pay, or does it sound a bit rich? Options I'm looking at include: Premium Sound Sports Steering Wheel Side Airbags RRP on road is around $52K I'm hoping to get them down to around $45K on-road. Is this realistic or am I dreaming? Cheers Nick

Hi all, Just wondering what your opinions are regarding the removal of the bootlid spoiler on an XR6T, and if you have done it, how you went about it. Should the whole bootlid be replaced with one from a Falcon XT, Futura etc, or is it possible to remove the spoiler, keep the original bootlid and repair the screw holes left in the bootlid? A dealer told me recently that he has heard of a couple of people who removed the spoiler on their XR6 and repaired the original bootlid. Is this possible? If so, it would save having to fork out the extra for another bootlid I'd rather keep the original spoiler (or bootlid) so it can be reattached when it comes time to trade in the car. Any opinions/suggestions much appreciated Nick

I would but its one and a half hours from where I live. I carry a camera with me all the time in my own car, but I was driving my work car at the time Ah well, I spose it wont be too long before the BF is on the street and we can more easily compare the BA and BF

If I'd known I would have taken a camera. Topic more relevant for those living in the area or passing through the area. Might be a bit far from Wagga...

HI all Just thought I'd let y'all know that Dominelli Ford at Sutherland has a BF XR6 in Silhouette (Black) sitting beside a Rapid XR6 (Yellow) in their showroom. Popped in there this morning, and me thinks the BF does look that little bit better than the BAII....although black is my preferred car colour, so this may be skewing my thoughts a little The BF at Dominelli's has cloth trim interior trim in grey/black - I like it better than the BA cloth trim. I originally wanted to see the new BF cloth seat design at the Motor Show, but all the XRs I saw there had sports leather. It also had the six speed auto and premium sound, and standard 17'' rims. Noticed the rubber on the BF is the same Dunlops SP 3000s as fitted to the BA - lets hope theyve resolved the tyre splitting issue. Anyways, was interesting to see the two cars side by side and observe the differences between them.

Honest Gaza, Generally bi-wiring doesn't result in a better or improved sound, but bi-amping can improve the sound of things. It all depends on the power of your amplifier/s, how efficient your speakers are, etc. The majority of speakers these days (of course there are exceptions) are relatively easy to drive so bi-wiring or bi-amping will result in little sonic benefit. In saying that, you could always try bi-wiring, cause it doesn't cost you much to buy extra speaker cable. If you can hear a difference, that's great, but in my experiences I haven't heard any. I have heard the benefits of bi-amping, but this was in a high-end system and the speakers required the extra power that bi-amping can provide. In short, bi-amping is a very expensive way to possibly get a bit better sound from your system. All comes down to the old 'law of diminishing returns.' Funny that, this law could be applied to the XR6T I reckon - ie excellent all-round package for the money, and you have to pay a hell of alot more to get a small increase in overall performance (F6 Typhoon, Audi S4, BMW M3...)

jetute, check out the latest edition of wheels - they have a large pic of the BF XR6 and you can clearly see the 17'' rims. I like them, more so than the BA II XR rims, but I still like the original BA XR 17'' the best

Yup that was one I was looking at - there are also a couple over at carpoint.com.au I think. That particular S4 that you have linked to has been on there at least 4 months - I think the price has come down a couple of times. Love the look of the S4 in black - looks really stealth and understated, just how I like a car to be. If only you could get the XR6T without a rear spoiler.....

sorry forgot the link! http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...e=post&id=15078

jetute here is a pic of what I think are the new 17'' rims - not a real good photo but not sure of any others available

If you could test out the upgraded brakes and see if they're a worthwhile improvement over the BAII standard brakes, and... see if the supposed greater noise suppression in the cabin is noticable over the BA, it would be much appreciated

Thanks for the replies everyone. Guess the next step is to go out and actually drive and S4, and see whether I prefer it or the XR6T, and then weight up the pros and cons of each. One thing that is a little worrying for the S4 is the insurance you have to pay. Doing a bit of research, it is at least twice, sometimes three times more expensive to comp. insure than an XR6T!

It's actually your post about the M5 that got me thinking about the S4 vs XR6T I had a ride in a demo M5 in Orange a couple of years back - got to say it was an awesome experience - acceleration is brutal. Poor car must have had a hard life though - only had 6,500 km on the clock and the front tyres were scrubbed out, and the rears were cactus!

Hi all, Thought this topic might make for an interesting discussion. Doing a bit of research, I've found that you can get into a 2000-2001 Audi S4 B5 with between 60-90K km on the clock for about the same price as a BF XR6T that is fairly well optioned up. Has anyone had the chance to drive both these cars, or considered buying an S4 of this vintage over a new XR6T? From what I have read, the S4 packs a mighty punch right from the get go, and sports a pretty flat torque curve from about 1800rpm upwards. And there are also a few tuning places around that are happy to make an S4 go harder. I know things like fit and finish, NVH etc would be better in the S4, but what about from an overall performance perspective (acceleration from rest, in gear acceleration, handling, etc) when compared to an XR6T? To anyone who has owned, driven, compared, or had a run against an S4 in your XR6T, it would be great to hear your experiences Thanks Nick

Hi all, Did a search on this topic but couldn't find any info. Does anyone know if the engine changes to the BF XR6T will pose any problems or delays for edit (Ford Flasher, Unichip etc)? As far as I know it took a while for any edit options to become available when the BA was first released in 2002. Will there be this sort of wait on edit options becoming for the BF? Or will we just have to wait and see until the BF is released until this question can be answered? Any info/comments from forum members or those directly involved with APS, CAPA, Nizpro etc would be greatly appreciated Thanks Nick

I've been thinking about this for the last couple of days... If I did swap the Sports Leather Seats with someone who has cloth seats, I have no idea what a reasonable swap price would be. Ford lists the Sports Leather Seats as a stand-alone option at $2,495 (ouch!), so would $1500 for the swap be reasonable?
