  1. Feel for you mate, but you have to go one way or the other.. Either way, not nice this time of year.. Best of luck with it, ensure you REALLY get down to what caused this situation.
  2. Feel for the families the most, for they have to live with the consequences forever.
  3. Fitted an exhaust to a forum members car, 5"dump, de-cat pipe then down into single 4" with no center muffler and a big rear resonator led to boost pressure spiking up to 19psi, not good for an engine at all. Even if the wastegate duty cycle was set to hold the wastegate wide open, it still overboosted. Be careful not to damage your engine, detonation is an absolute killer.
  4. The first O2 sensor looks at the exhaust gases and measures richness or lean-ness (Lambda) so cycles between 0v and 1v, about once per second. the post-catalyst 02 sensor also measures Lambda and its output is relatively steady in comparison to the first sensor ( .8 to.9v) If the reading from the second sensor fluctuates the PCM then thinks that the catalyst is not functioning correctly and flags a fault condition. I have seen rear sensors that cycle incorrectly and still flag a catalyst fault when there wasnt one. O2 sensors have to function in a harsh enviromnent and dont last forever. As the voltage they deliver is relatively small (less than 1v) its easy to see how one can cause incorrect codes to flag. There are much more clever forum members whose explanations may be clearer to understand so hopefully they can help you out.
  5. Yep, Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor Wastegate flap and also the hole it covers (Port)
  6. Any aftermarket cat you choose to use that outflows the factory catalyst usually causes a fault code to be logged once the vehicle tries to run in closed-loop mode. There a number of ways to rectify this, from getting a HEGO spacer that pulls the rear HEGO slightly out of the exhaust stream, down to turning off the rear HEGO entirely, using a modified tune. Also, using that larger dump pipe may also lead you to having boost control issues, with the standard flapper and port unable to regulate boost accurately, without porting modifications.
  7. Tradidionally, ABC radio announcers do their time with Aunty, then move on to much better, higher profile, better paying positions. Why? Because they are invariably high quality and damn good at their jobs. JJJ seem to be struggling to find that depth of quality we have become accustomed to. Lots hope they keep this great standard up..
  8. Settle Brods, it does seem that most of my humour has flown completely past you. I do think that any reference to smelly indians should be thought thru a little more carefully before you begin to alienate yourself from most open-minded aussies. Its not a case of disliking an icon, aussie or otherwise, just trading jibes over gheyness and utes. It would seem that you, sir, are a dill! PS Hope this post also does not race by you.
  9. The Worm would have replied, but he left his reading glasses somewhere and cant read the post....happens with being an old pioneer.
  10. No, of course not...being Iraqi is cool too... but at least they both dont drive gheyer than ghey utes... that said, yours is painted Taxi White..! Hmm food for thought perhaps if there was a Taxi White Turbo wagon for Indian/Iraqi potentially Ghey Taxi drivers you may be interested...! Also, rest assured that you can park your turban next to the cardigan/lawn bowls/slippers placed neatly in the capacious wagon area..ha ha ha.. !
  11. Great work mate, shows that a simple check can actually make a huge difference.
  12. Only quality radio around... unless you are a fan of Sandilands..? There an A Grade knob.
  13. Na, just a set of well-worn leather chaps and a pair of Levi's with the ass cut out of them to put on the passenger seat of your ute to attract more ghey Mardi Gras float dancers to ya ute! Ha ha ha...
  14. I usually keep the car overnight and get a real-world feel of whether its up to task. Haave driven lots of VE's and still remain unimpressed. Only vehicles that are actually screwed together worse than Frauds local product. Juat too damn small in the wagon section and cheap feeling inside for me Arron.. Mondeo years ahead in execution and technology but only a decent drive will tell. If I had no kids and was feeling particularly R.M.Williams-ish and Broke Back Mountain-like eg Brods.. Id buy a gheyy Ute.
  15. With lots of kids and the gear that goes with them, our BF wagon fills the bill admirably, complementing my Territory Turbo 7seater nicely. However, its almost at the end of its useable life from my perspective and the question now is what to replace it with. Looked at the Sportswagon but it was just too small in luggage-carrying dept for our needs... Heading towards an XR5 Turbo Mondeo, with a tune and hopefully a few bucks left over for a Quaife LSD (sold the idea of safety to the missus.. he he..) Its no wagon, but I wont miss out on turbo punch and practicality. BTW utes are waay gheyer!
  16. Better than Myf...? lets get technical.. better on size alone or other attributes too? I reckon the Bogan would bone anything with a pulse (or having had one recently and was remotely warm!)
  17. Yet to try one, but reports I have had suggest it drives as well as a petrol one, with superior economy.. Will wait til I have a drive next week and see for myself.
  18. Man, you are after lots of answers here!! Its all good for the last thing you want to do is run it lean.. Your Holley Blue is good for around 450hp using 1/2" line so perhaps you are getting close to its llimits. Have you run this combo before? I know that Holley needle and seats are safe for up to 6-7psi of fuel pressure but remember, its not just pressure you want, its shedloads of flow. Are you running E85 or something else? Whats the compression ratio? How hard does it rev? Do you drag race it? Do you launch hard? On my 302Windsor, Im running a Blue pump and pressure regulator set at 7psi, Edelbrock Torker2 Intake manifold, Holley 750DP and relatively soft compression (9.6 to 1). It revs safely to 6500rpm cut out and has never run lean. I wish the bank could afford a Barry Grant carb (more tunability than the venerable old Holley) There are literally dozens of options for fuel systems for your motor, try to find one that doesnt break the bank and has some capacity in reserve. Aeromotive have some very nice stuff, just comes down to what you need and want to spend. The number of peoole who are still familiar with carburettors (An ingenious device for providing the wrong air /fuel ratio an all engine speeds!!) is shrinking fast. Since mine was dynoed and set-up, I haven't had to play with it. If you were in Perth, I'd introduce you to the Mad Macedonian, cut his teeth on carby V8's and just knows that shoite inside out.. I will do a bit of looking around, trawl through a few old old magazines and see what I can find Mal K
  19. Wasn't Rosie Kas Tran's replacement? Now she was very very good. Clever, good at dealing with the drunk units but certainly not a patch on my favouritest J presenters............Miley Robins and Helen Razer!
  20. Always secure the steering column when you disconnect the rack, as there may be a clock spring in the top of the column that will easily get damaged if you turn the wheel freely. You will get a shock when you go to get it replaced so be aware! Replaced on on a 100 Series Landcruiser and it was almost $600. Sounds like you were on the right track by marking the spline and ensuring you were back in the same spot, but its just that most steering wheels will spin around a bit without the rack to secure them, due to their imbalance alone. Time to check the manual!
  21. With Fg radios now integrated into touchscreen format its unlikely we can retrofit something like a factory digital receiver into existing BA/BF/Territory. Im after something that fits seamlessly into the factory application, maybe some kind of internal upgrade but that's highly unlikely. However, bearing in mind the sheer number of BA/BF's out there, an affordable upgrade could have the potential to pay off. Any other ideas?
  22. Has anyone got a lead or some info for an upgrade to our existing ICC's that will allow us to listen to DAB stations, not just the usual AM/FM fodder? Perhaps someone like ASL may have a suggestion or a lead on how we can move our radio forwards and enjoy a much wider range of broadcasts.. Thanks, Mal K
