Unfortunately for me, PayPal told me to take a hike , so if anyone has a BA XR8 or BA XR8 MK 2 and is after a flash device with three pre-loaded tunes, let me know and $150 (how much I spent minus post) and it's yours.

Thanks McMatty. A custom edit will address the comp ratio for better fuel economy I take it?

Thanks again for the responses guys it's really appreciated. Looks like cms is worth a gander, I'll look into it and keep you posted. @ratter, sorry mate what do you mean by "higher comp"? @raband, no mate it is still running the factory tune. It is well due for an edit. Thank you for explaining the other side of the 'generic tune' which isn't explained by the people trying to sell it to you.

Thanks for the help guys. I understand and agree with the logic; The reason I mentioned intune, is because they're in seven hills nsw, and well so am I - they are just down the road. The car is well serviced, has 105000km on the clock and has a few little mods like 4"dump turbo back exhaust, f6 intercooler, braided oil feed and turbosmart bov relocating adapter (closer to TB). My main issue with the car is how heavy the damn thing feels. Low end torque feels so sluggish. I have a boost gauge in the car and even with a little pressure on the accelerator the vacuum levels jump to 0 and it feels like the car just wants to go on boost which isn't ideal for me. My wife bought an FG NA XR6 MKII and that thing has unbelievably good throttle response comparatively. When speaking to technicians that do service work on my car they all say this can be rectified with a tune so hence I was looking into it. Can anyone recommend a good tuner in Sydney? I don't mind paying - I just don't want to get ripped off.

Gave them a couple of calls today without any answer I'll try again tomorrow. Anyhow hopefully it goes my way with the dispute then I'll look into an sct xcal3 device. how are the generic tunes on the device? In another thread I was told to stay away from intune motorsports in seven hills nsw, but they do offer a device with some 'proven' pre loaded tunes for a reasonable price. anyone can vouch for the programs, the tuner or flash device?

cheers for the responses fellas. I've initiated a dispute so we'll see how that pans out and I agree, I'll definitely be doing a bit more research before future buys. @ratter, do you have a contact person at CAPA, I flicked them a couple of emails through their website but I am yet to hear anything. Thanks again

g'day lads, I find myself in a bit of a pickle and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Basically, I found a flash tuning device the CAPA ford flash 1 on ebay for about $150, I won the auction and I received the device yesterday. I was under the impression that I could contact a CAPA dealer and order a custom tune program for my car as per the ad specified but upon ringing around I was told that the device was discontinued and I had to buy the xcal 3 if I wanted to tune the car. I contacted the seller but he is being a real s**t c**t and refuses to take any responsibility despite noting in his ad that I could get a tune program for my car from a capa dealer or tuner for about $150. Guys is there anything I can do? Is the device completely useless? It has loaded on it tunes for a BA XR8, I have a BA XR6T. Is there any way I can get the tune program I need. Any help is appreciated, Cheers

Bf Xr6T Intercooler - Is A Fpv Intercooler An Upgrade?

Similar question guys - I got a BA F6 at an unbeatable price, but I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading the factory cooler on my BA XR6T? Will there be a noticeable power gain? -
dump pipe is changed too but not the extractors, it seems to be all good now since replacing the wastegate, I realise a tune would get max performance out of that exhaust but the thing is I can't justify spending over $800 on a cheap plastic device which loads a tune to my car. Yes the kW gain is amazing, yes there are mods which cost lot more money and gives you way less a gain - but seriously it's just so much for what it actually is. In saying that if I had the money I'd definitely do it and enjoy it. I didn't do any of those mods I bought the car like this. The only thing I did was the oil feed line and the BOV and adapter cause the idiot who owned before me got rid of the stock bosch recirculating valve and closed off the ports so the turbo was getting all kinds of crazy surge. The TS adapter and BOV sounds a lot better and I don't have to worry about the turbo conking down the line.

Ended up swapping the TS 7psi wastegate for a 3psi wastegate from Garrett and doing it myself with a mate. It wasn't too hard getting it off, more so getting it the arm to line up properly when fitting the new one. Mad ***** to do but hey, I saved a minimum of $300 so can't complain too much. Since replacing the wastegate, it now peaks at 6psi

Autotech - $440 and also recommended a tune as the factory one is a 3psi wastegate. This surprised me but has made me want to get a genuine Garret one so as so to avoid a tune. Cresent - $300, possibly cheaper if they can do it without yanking the turbo off. Tunehouse - $325 His name kept popping up when searching online for specialists with the xr6t. I found him on ebay, youtube and via googling, seemed to know his s***, thought I'd give him a go, frankly all three of these other garages seemed to be on the ball a bit more

Thanks mate I'll give these guys a call Monday and post back
-
Yeah, cheers for that. Anyone else with a valid suggestion? Come on fellas I need to get this fixed, not everyone is mechanically minded - just bought a car that I enjoy and I'm trying to get it working properly.
-
it should come with a sender mate, I have the same gauge and it came with one.

I am getting 7psi on a stock tune, I thought that was normal. anyway if push came to shove I could obtain a replacement genuine garrett wastegate if the general consensus is that would be better? @jas98 what did you end up fitting on yours? can anyone recommend the name of a garage that can actually do this so I can call them up and see if I can a better quote than half a grand. john did get back to me by the way, he said on an FG it would be $100 but on a BA $550, didn't explain why but I imagine it's easier to access...
