  1. After reinstalling factory tune everythings appear to be normal! Only noise from under the bonnett is a sweet whistle from the turbo!
  2. Hi, installed CAPA 8psi generic tune via their flasher and have been very happy, performance is mind blowing. Till the other day! It was wet, I gave it a bit off the mark and didn't respond well. It ran very rough I think it may have overboosted. ABS/TC kicked in, as in it did spin much and I could hear the ABS unit going off! After this had happened power overall was reduced to about half way between factory and 8psi tune. During bit harder than normal acceleration a strange noise comes from under the bonnett. It sounds like something scrapping or air escaping and there is a noticable reduction in performance. I reinstalled the factory tune expecting to take it to Ford, noise gone. Any ideas?
  3. CAPA have offered to reprogram my Flash Tuner, should I wait for v3?
  4. What upgades have been made to the Flash Tuner software?
  5. What spark plugs are recommended? It's been suggested now I have CAPA Flashed my T to regap the plugs. I was told by CAPA to throw the original Iridium plugs away and replace the with a std copper core NGK. What do you guys think and what gap is recomended? Currently running 8psi map but want to try the 10psi map.
  6. Great I'll regap the plugs, what gap do you recommend? I will also be trying the 10psi program, so is the same gap required for both? Another thing I have noticed is when you start it up (cold), it idles at 2,000rpm for 3-4 seconds then settles. Is this normal? I'm using the generic tunes to determine roughly what I want from my T. Once I decide I will get a custom tune. It maybe the "8" or maybe the "10" or both or a complete custom tune. One problem I have here in Newcastle there is no-one that can perform this. Your advise is appreciated!
  7. Just flashed my T with the CAPA flash 8psi program and have noticed sometimes under hard acceleration a bad mis causing lose of power. Lift the pedal and hit it again but not as hard it's OK, or if you just keep your foot buried you will drive through it. It only last a couple of seconds. Is it overboosting? On a good note, wahat a difference it makes. Whole pacage fells smoother. Trip computer says better economy and the power is awsome.
  8. Thanks alot for the advise. Can anyone suggest someone in Newcastle or Sydney that can do a quality custom tune. And just for the dummies, once custom tune is done the factory tune can be reinstalled and vice versa without any problems or changes to those edits?
  9. DYNOWOG: Can Ford refuse warranty? I only ask because my T is only 9mths old. Are there any tuners in Newcastle that are qualified. I keep hearing about a company called "Pulse Performance" but they appear to be invisable and another "Scotts Dynotune" who don't return calls. If I do this, I will not let just anyone do it. I am going to QLD in January 2006, should I wait and get someone there to do it?
  10. DYNOWOG: I come from Newcastle NSW. Can Ford tell if you have a edit?
  11. OK, I've done it. I've bought myself a CAPA Flash Tuner. Have not had the chance to use it yet, but am considering not using it! There seems to be a lot of problems others are having ie: Traction Control turning itself off, Dash displays disappearing, Soleniods clicking, Rough operation. XR6T's have been out for about 3 years. Shouldn't the suppliers of these Flash Tuners have them sorted by now? What other problems are you guys/gals having. If these problems are still around, the suppliers have a "duty of care" under the Fair Trading Act to fix them!
  12. Sounds like there is nothing to worry about!!!!!!
  13. So what I'm hearing is the edit via: flash tuner is probably the way to go! However is it true that Ford can tell?
  14. It all depends on what your after, how Hands on you are with your car, how close are you to a decent tuner ETC ETC. Edit is a better product, but MUST be tuned by a dealer, you cant modify any of it yourself, other than swap between different tunes stored in your "Flasher" Xede is now cheaper to buy, reasanable cost to install, can be tuned at home to a point if you like, yeah its old school, but so is Beer, and Beer is your freind. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like the sound of the edit it seems simple. When money allows I'll drive as far as I have to for a good custom tune. What I'm mainly concerned about the quality of their base performance tunes, and the stories that Ford can tell if you have had an edit even if you have reflashed with the std program!
  15. Just removed ctr muff with 1 from Exotic Exhaust including hotdogs (Great job, Fit buitifully, Sounds AWSUME). Problem is give the load pedal a hit in carpark, will not rev past 3,000rpm. On road using sports shift it hit 3grand, hestitate, than boost returned. Second run hesitated slightly. Third run appeared to be OK. No forth run yet. Is there a problem?
  16. I want to upgrade the ECU in my XR6T MKII. My 2 choices are C.A.P.A Flash tuner or the XEDE piggyback system. At present I have the following mods: 2nd CAI, K&N filter and CTR muffler removed. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they both seem to do the same thing only in a different way ie: They increase the performance over standard, one via software and one via hardware! Q1. Do both types come with basic performance tunes already installed? Q2. Are the basic performance tunes OK & safe? Q3. Comments between the different maps? Q4. Do they modify the auto shift pattern? Q5. Can both be custom tuned later? I know to most of you, these questions are simple and mundane but I will appreciate any advice you can offer!
  17. Hi Guys, I,ve been reading a few threads and it appears that most T owners do have much faith in Ford Australia! We have only had our T 5 weeks, but the car is 6 mths old. In the last fortnight I've noticed that when cold the engine surges (not always), and twice it has began to idle rough almost to the point of stalling. I approached Ford here in Newcastle, their response was that there is a software upgrade for the computer. I thought that this sounded great and have booked the car in next monday to have it done. NOTE: car generally drives well, power seems OK, avg fuel 14.5 l/100klm. Last thing I want/need is a s t fight because the car is comes back worse. I hope to in the next couple of months to purchase a flash tuner and couple of months after that possibly get a custom tune done for it. Should I tell Ford to forget the upgrade?
  18. Good to hear from someone her in Newcastle. I have had my T for 4 weeks, already have added Typhoon CAI, Filter, Removed ctr Muffler and 18" wheels. I don't really won't to change anything menchanical ie: injectors, but would like 240rwkw. Is this achieable. If so using/doing what and where. No one in Newcastle that I have contacted seem interested!

  20. Any ideas on what is causing this surging. It's more obvious at idle!
