Ba Fpv Centre Console Colour
LightningXR6T replied to xrboss8's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
Don't know where to buy paint, but follow this link http://www.asllogistics.com/ford_upgrades.html and you can buy them already done! -
Yep, common in all BA's and I suspect AU's aswell. My AUII XR8 done it also!
-
I've spoken about this before and no one believes me. With the standard tune in my T runs at half way. With the CAPA generic 8psi (which according to 3 different boost gauges actually pulls 11psi) tune my gauge drops about 4mm ie: runs cooler!
-
Hey Ford Grunt, He is my mates neighbour. I've passed your details on!
-
no they didn't.. a place in qld did <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, but that is what I was told by AWC!

When C2R closed, Auto Web Concepts bought their moulds! http://www.awcinfo.com/secureshop/category.php?cat_id=405

Has anyone experienced diff whine. Doesn't clunk just a whining sound when there is any amount of positive load on it. No noise when coasting/backing off!
-
Yeh great day, thanks to Eugene for organising it. Lookin forward to getting a custom tune and seeing what number I can get!

This is where I and probably others get confused. I was under the impression when I bought my CAPA Flasher that from the CAPA website: Stage 1 Ford Flash Tuner. Increases power up to 280 - 310kW. This power will be achieved with the standard exhaust. The dyno chart indicates 242.1 kw. This I assumed to be rwkw. If dynos are an instrument to measure power? It's like having different length rulers but all state they are 30cm long!

Please Note: The moulds from C2R have been bought by AWC http://www.awcinfo.com/. They are now making these components!

I must be doing something wrong, as I can't break traction unless I hold foot on brake, spool her up a bit. Then it will it will spin for about 4 feet. This is the same with 8psi or 10 psi. On std tune forget it. Have to find someone to do a custom tune, that may help!

I've searched but can't find anything except for this thread http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...5&hl=thermostat , which realy didn't answer the question. I read somewhere that the eng temp is monitored by the PCM and makes adjustments to fuel, timing etc! The hotter the engine gets, the less power is allowed by the PCM. I have also been lead to believe that the Typhoon has a different deg thermostat! A freind has a MKI and I have a MKII both auto's. His runs around 1/4 on temp gauge, where mine runs a mic hair under half. (On the same road, at the same time, same ambient temp ect) Can anyone shead some light on this?

Have successfully fitted Auotmeter Carbon Fibre Boost and AFR gauge to FPV Pod. I'll be installing complete unit to my T next week. I'll post some pics!

2 Retainer Screws: BA2T 10S849 A - x2 Sorry, these aren't screws, they are a silver insert that covers the gauge securing bolts that face the windscreen. Kloster Ford here in Newcastle carry all these parts in stock!

Thanx heaps, much appreciated!

This has been covered before, but I have 3 questions on this topic! Q1: Why do the plugs need to be regapped? Q2: What is the recommended gap? Q3: What plug type/brand? I believe that OE is Iridium, but it was said to me that Iridium plugs are useless and that NGK copper cored plugs are far superior. Iridium $25 each NGK copper $3 each. What do you suggest and why?

Here is the p/n for the silver bits that cover the screws at the rear BA2T 10S849 A They are available, I bought the within the last fortnight!

There are numerous threads regarding this topic. One off which has attracted over 1,200 replies and more than 36,000 views. There appears to me a rather large number of T owners having brake issues. I believe this is contributed to the fact that the standard brakes fitted to these cars are inadequate! This to me becomes more apparent with the statements made here and other forums that Ford have upgrade the brakes on the BF model. They say it"s because the BF now has a whopping 5kw more! Having worked in the motor industry for 20 something years, one of the main causes of brake shudder is excessive heat. Yes the brakes on these cars just due to the nature off the beast are going to get hotter than an XT or XR6 driven by Martha or Reverend John on Sunday. I know you are saying "I should have ordered Premium Brakes" or "mortage the house and upgrade them with aftermarket units" both off which are fair statements. However I think any company who manufactures a vehicle, all of it's standard equipment should be up to scratch and I believe that the standard brakes on MKI & MKII T's are not! I would like your views. I don't want criticism or a sh*t fight as I am intitled to my own opinion as you are!

The Nexus range have the same style of silver surround as the Autometer Carbon Fibre ones I already have, how did you attach the Ford surrounds?
-
I visited our local Ford dealer here in Newcastle, gave him a list of parts required and guess what, all in stock and handed streight over the counter no questions asked! A complete (less gauges) FPV twin gauge pod! Now I have a question I hope someone can help answer. What gauges brand/type etc are you using. I haven't priced genuine Ford, my mortage is already high enough! I have noticed that the silver surround clips perfectly to a standard VDO 52mm gauge. Unfortunately VDO have the most borrrrrrrrrring styles I've ever seen. I purchashed as nice pair of Boost and AFR Autometre gauges with carbon fibre faces but the don't suit the the factory surrounds! Any help will be appreciated. Even a link to some info will be awesome!

Just a note to update this thread! As mentioned contact was made by Tony (CAPA). He has replaced my flasher with a new unit which is said to have the latest "Nov 2005" software, what the changes are I don't know. I'm a bit cautious to flash my T, but looking at my options ie: Xede, Unichip etc I do still feel it is the way to go. I need to find a good tuner and have a custom tune done!
-
Can maybe Street Tuner answer this question. As my understanding is once it has been used to flash a vehicle it cannot be used on another vehicle untill it has been sent back to CAPA to be unlocked. I have been told this because once factory tune/VIN has been stored "it" can't changed /overwritten! Please Street Tuner, what are your thoughts!

There should not be any significant risk of damaging the PCM, as the up/down loading of flash upgrades are just part of the normal operation of the unit (and are done by Ford), and the flash unit is powered from the cable connection from the car reducing risk of any power related issues. As with any software file transfer, there is some chance of this being corrupted. I have not experienced this when I have used my flash box. If there was a failure in the original storing of the Factory map then that would be a problem as you would be attempting to restore a corrupted file. My understanding is the only way to get a new Factory map, is to take it back to Ford. In this instance, you could drive to the dealer with a custom map, then reflash the (corrupted) factory map, tell then you have an issue and get them to update the factory program. The Flasher will then store the new factory map before allowing an edited tune to be uploaded. If you are getting a custom tune done on the car then this would be the responsibility of the tuner - have them check that the factory tune re-flashes and the car drives correctly before leaving. I spoke with Nizpro about this, and they indicated they have never experienced any problems with this on any car they have tuned. Provided the data is correctly recorded in the Flasher box then any upload that didn't work 100% as per LightningXR6T's comments can be simply re-transfered - not a major issue. in otherwords, I would rate both of these as low risks. I am not aware of a secondary means of backing up the factory map in the event of something untoward happening with the physical flasher box (using the flasher itself), other than buying a second flasher and storing it somewhere else... My understanding of the process is that when you first connect a new flasher box to a car, it back's up the complete factory file. A tuner then can upload custom maps to the flash box, which can also be stored on the tuners PC. IF the box was lost when the car was running an edited map, then it would have to go back to Ford to be reflashed to get back a factory map. Purchase of a replacement flasher box would allow the custom tunes to be simply uploaded by the dealer, but I do not beleive they can upload the factory map as this is what links the flasher box to the car. This would be a risk if you wanted to eliminate any chance of the Ford dealer ever finding out about the edit. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, or have a tuner that has a good relationship with their dealer, then this need not be a major issue. They should simply reflash the car for you. My dealer has told me they do not tell Ford anything about their customers cars, as they want to avoid any issues with the customer. Of course if a Ford MoCo rep happens to be there at the wrong time then that would be a different story... If you have not seen how the flasher works, then I am happy to show you - just give me a call and we can catch up. Hope this helps some... Cheers, Ben. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You made the comment "The Flasher will then store the new factory map before allowing an edited tune to be uploaded". I'm under the impression that after the initial copying of the factory tune, it simply rewrites this to the PCM. In which case it could overwrite the new factory program with the corrupt file! True or false!
