It could just be a hose with a small hole in it or even a hose blown off a barb

Temp Gauge After Thermo Change Still Not What I Expected
FiftyOne replied to FiftyOne's topic in Engine Workshop
Thanks guys, appreciate it -
Chucked a new 82c thermo in the ute a few weeks ago after I noticed that the original (or what I think was the original) had a hole in it. I was a little unsure what the temps should be but they seemed low as the needle only got just under 1 quarter all the time. After the swap it runs at a needles width over the quarter & seems to sit more consistent as well as quicker. Only problem is that the fuel use is a little higher than I was expecting (13-14 per 100k, yeah it's still pretty good but still seems just a tad thirsty) & then last time I put the OBD datalogger in the fuse box & took it for a drive I saw this on the attached image I'm not really sure that the sensor should see such a dramatic flux of temp like that. Am I correct in thinking I have either an earthing issue, a bad connection or a fault somewhere for it to do that? I'm thinking if that's the case, the temp could be rapidly fluctuating & causing the higher fuel use than I was expecting.

Haven't melted through a vac hose as well have you?

21kw's more? Makes me think there may have been an issues in the system to begin with?

When are you all thinking about the night shoot? Paint on the ute is getting done a this very moment. Probaly should get it snapped whilst its still clean

Just working on first principals here, but a bottle of metho? anything that might attract the water along with thick oil? There's no chance I'd test the theory in my car but plausable to a point. Save the fact the sludge would be stuck to EVERYTHING

I've looked previously, only place of any repute I've come across is Pedders really. There's a few places in ballarat I could recommend but Bendigo seems a bit limited

BF Tornado #77 here. Didn't realise how many they DIDN'T make till reading. Was put to me best by a exhaust fitting mate I know who after talking to him about it said "actually, I don't think I've ever seen one of these before" That sort of put it in perspective for me what I'd actually brought. Was talking options for a dump pipe & cat before I wind the turbo up a bit & he's sort of talked me off that now. In looking for this ute, I also noticed that there are sweet FA fully spec'd ones out there. Most don't have the 6 pots, leather, premium sound or AC, sports bar, 19's. They really came out much closer to a standard XR6 ute than anything else

But is the level checked at those temps whilst in gear or in park? Engine on or off? -
Rda Vs Dba....how Much Difference Between The 2? Also Brembo Pads...fg
FiftyOne replied to PTR_NITRO_FG's topic in Brakes
I had RDA slotteds on the EL with a set of cheap RDA pads. MAN! did I beat them silly. Did just about everything under the sun to them & they didn't skip a moment. Good rotors & pads for the price- 63 replies

Tc Warning Light After Zf Service, No Obd2 Faults? Wtf?

Thanks ratter JT - thanks mate, question related more to if the fill is completed (hot) whilst in gear or not. -
Serviced the ute today & F ME! the oil that was in that thing was f*ckED! completely shot, non service my ass! Anyways, nice clean fresh fluid & a filter later the thing drives beaut. One minor issue, I have a TC light illuminated but no DTC's recorded?? Never had an issue with the light the first 2 times the car was driven but with it showing up, I'm a little wary. First time I noticed the light I turned the car on & off and it fixed it. Second time it was started it stayed off as well. Third time it came on & I drove it home. Thing is, I have this cheapy OBD2 recorder unit from ebay which is fantastic, I'd left it in the port & drove it. I'm wondering if that COULD have been the issue. Other thing is if there is some sort error code I'm not seeing ? To top that off can someone confirm the fill procedure for me? I was under the assumption that you; top it up till it runs out the hole > start > run through gears > top up till dripping again > once hot put in park & shut off > reapply plug However, when I did this as soon as the engine was off oil was PISSING out at quite a rate making me think I've over filled so is the procedure the following instead? top it up till it runs out the hole > start > run through gears > once hot put in park & shut off > reapply plug Any answers would be awesome, thanks guys

Just thought I'd let everyone know, I think autobahn has penrite products on sale 20% off til sept 29th. I ordered 5 bottles of penrite dx6 4L for $220. Down from ~$280. Also $45 a litre. Brought mine on order as they didn't have enough on hand, still got the discount. Thought I'd share it for everyone with the auto boxes.
