  1. Disagree. I know for a fact the biggest limitation of the car will be that dam box. We know the barra turbo can make a heap more torque with a retune. They torque limited the motor!
  2. Any Mods to the driveline to handle the power?
  3. KAM learned boost map might not be keeping up. ECU reset might settle it down a little. With any mods, a tune will always help
  4. Some dil's put an aftermarket system in mine. Will probably sh*t me to tears eventually but at least it was professionally done. I've heard of original Walki's being chained & still tried to be stolen. Also know a guy that had an R8 ute pinched in broad day light 2 blocks from a cop shop. Witnesses & everything. Saw a guy stand there for a few mins, the car opened & he got in. 5 mins later he started it & drove off. No broken glass, no screwdrivers & no forced entry 0_o Only thing for sure is that the testical's on thevies these day's are getting larger
  5. I had the same(ish) problem. I have Penrite in mine, flared a bit, still does a little but generally the shifting is better with fresh oil. I know the flaring is an issue, but I'm not smoking the tyres till I get the temp is up any way. Generally it's worse at about 55 in 5th (I manually set it), if I leave it in 4th til its warm its fine
  6. They can't find a missing airplane, that car is history now
  7. To me this 'final' really smacks of the problems ford's had for so many years. They simply don't invest in themselves [/thread]
  8. Been looking for a genuine GT interior in GC. Hit me up
  9. Well, it's only money. I can't be assed mucking with something that is intermitent & I have a 1 in 6 chance of MAYBE finding. For a little extra cost on OEM coils I just got some weaponX units. [FlameSuitOn] I know there is mixed opinion on the upgraded coils, I get that. For the furutre upgrades I'll do I don't want potential unreliablity. I'm going for premium equipment, the extra - maybe $125 - for a set over FoMoCo resold units is worth it for the better design of the plug end alone. This new Herrod Voltage booster is also a similar idea re lifting the delivered voltage so I don't really see the difference. Pretty much any excuse to upgrade at this point is fine, so I've gone ahead & got it done. [/WaterProofPants] But thanks everyone for the insight. Wouldn't have thought coils, but as with mot things auto electrical - #BlackMagic
  10. That thing is GAWN!
  11. Theres 2 options in the zf hp8 range. the 55, the 70 & then up to the 80 (refering the repective torques in the 100's) Wouldn't have been a big issue to put them in, would have made for a better car...
  12. All modern cars do f*cked up sh*t with dead/dying batteries. You'd say I had holes in my head if I said a new battery made my cars run better, but guess what, everytime I put a new one in it feels better to drive
  13. Disable the fuel system & crank it for a bit. But I'd also tip a bit of oil in there ahead of time anyway. Grab a syringe from a vet's or something & inject the oil in there, slow
  14. Coils it is I suppose! Thanks guys. Don't think the boost gauge could be getting the same related issue?
  15. My thoughts exactly. I know for a fact the limiting factor in this is the gearbox. The zf is a weak link in the system. to R&D a new box/line would cost maybe??? $2m maybe? by the time it's all counted up. But really, if they wanted to sell cars ongoing, wouldn't it be good to write that cost & more off to ensure theres legacy & interest in product in the future? To me, that $2m of 'dead money' could actually be money quite well spent for future sales. Just my thoughts. I wont buy a ford from offshore after they wrap productuon here.(I work on a product using a zf6 in development & know of people that work in FoMoCo. $2m to put a real box in it & unleash the torque. Money well spent?)
  16. Im doing a bit of reseach in to using an Au 2/3 ecu in ba/bf setups. theory suggests it MAY be possible and it HAS been done in some NA setups. That means the sct eliminator & similar can be used. I'm also preatty keen to install something similar. I also found a piggy back unit that appears to be able to do a similar thing
  17. Engine is a litte rough, thought it might just be plugs? known issue?
  18. Dont bother with insurance, claims not big enough, f*cks with premiums
  19. twice this week the speedo on the dash hasn't been working correctly (eg, doesn't even move!) If I pull over, isolate the car & restart & seems to come good. I've also been having intermittant issues with the boost gauge too. Thinking it could be canbus related?? any ideas anyone?
  20. Was that the black & gold thing with the work done to it? couldnt agree more
  21. Not sure if the ecu's in our cars really like external boost control. The ecu's deal with it through the bosch bleeder on the actuator. There are predefined boost maps in the ecu that calculate all sorts of things, as well as compensation calcs in the KAM. Might be more hassle than its worth.
  22. Probably nothing wrong with installing infront of the wheel arch in the guard with a fan. At least it would be out of the engine bay & the other associated heat there
  23. Wouldn't mind going for a look actually. not sure if I'll be around that day though
  24. 95. I'm not too princess about it really. Just put a 91c thermo in it & took it for a test drive after a reset tonight. trip is giving me better than 10/100k mixed driving after 15 minutes. Can't complain about that!
