Thinking it is. Noise is 100% coming from rear of the bay drivers side. No noises the passengers side
-
I have no idea how much smoke will come out of the turbo when it finally blows. Fml
-
f*ck, this sh*t is about to get expensive. Any idea as to how this happens?

Had to do a very short drive but it deffinately sounds like it's coming from around the Booster, some where on the drivers side
-
can't think that it isn't? noise sounds like its coming from the drivers side though
-
got my ute back on the road with its mods, namely an FG intake arrangement and when things are coming right up on boost there's a noise that sounds much like a supercharger whine on the drivers side. I can't put my finger on what it is. I did crack the PCV and glued it up as a stop gap solution. Other thoughts are that it could be a harmonic in the intake, the intake pipe collapsing under vacuum, harmonic in the bov line. Or maybe something more insidious like a dying turbo... (Will post a vid later for the audio)

Righto first drive down & things went ok. Heaps of little teething issues to nail, basically will need to drive it & monitor the wear on some parts until I can see it or I can find solutions. Ripping the head off the dipstick wasn't the worst thing in the world, now the BOV line runs right over it. Other things requiring attention in no particular order; - muffler pipe close to the PS pump - I think some sort of grease has dropped on the turbine housing, smoking a bit - zip ties, zip ties everywhere - still a lack of a box for the pod, also the pod pipe isn't the right size (length & width) - BOV line close to thermostat housing - cold side pipe is jammed hard under the headlight, needs a re think - snapped the crank vent hose off, need to get a new one, glued up for now - isolator on rear of cross over is under duress - keep an eye on the turbo inlet joiners - vac lines are a mess! - need to block a vac line - watch rear vac tee fitting - TB joiner is way too tight - cold side pressure sensor line needs a set of P clips - front bar to replace - keep an eye on the hot side pipe work - very minor rubs on the bonnet liner - but wait! there's more! anyway, heres a little "danger to the manifold" pic my housemate took that makes me look tubby A/F and a pic of where we're at

What year? Fg's came with certificates too

I believe it can be done but personally I wouldn't even with a built box. Very aggressive changes

So Friday night we're going for a drive around the block to see what falls off. Situation at the moment is the last bolt in the manifold got done up & the new tyre is on. Battery is charged and shortly before the drive the fuel will be primed up again. Tyre is a stop gap til I can get some bushes done with an alignment but it will survive until I get some scratch together to splash on a set of rims Muffler is ridiculously close to the PS pump so for now some sticky foam, I'll probably get on the pipe with the heat gun to create an air pocket later. Little concerned about the crossover isolator too. Far too much misalignment. Again, it'll be ok for the weekend. Need to pickup the last cold side pipes & buy a few last silicon bends to finish the plumb. I've ripped the head off the dipstick by mistake so I'll need to sort something there, but interestingly the plumb back line fits nice between everything as shown in the image. Better than I expected actually.

xcal, some parts of the fuel system, (think injectors need some finessing to make work?) diverter valve (bov) IWG actuator I think Maybe valve springs?

Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors
FiftyOne replied to boost69's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
You will have to forgive me on that one. As said, I had heard of this other crowd but only that the others were still superior -

Xspurt were the other injectors I was thinking about -
Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors

They are a superior injector. However KPM's units are just as good, cheaper, and Australian made. Well worth the money spent, do it right, go with a quality injector. Either ID or KPM -

Intake System Before Tune Or Just Go Straight To Tune?
FiftyOne replied to simdim13's topic in Ford 4.0L N/A Discussion
Get the tune done with everything complete. Give the tuner the best chance to get it right -
So things are progressing steadily. Got the airbox cut and some bracketry set for the cross over. When I had a second look I can just fit the muffler pipe so for now I'll run that. Crank return is plumbed & the AC line is bent away enough for now. I've got a lead on something I can use to make up a new line if needed. First part of the cold side is plumbed and I'll get the hot done tonight. My only concern at the minute is the lack of room in the front of the bay in this area now. The box is already pretty chopped, when the last part of the cold side is done I'll see how bad the chop needs to be

Fuel Pump Voltage Booster/controller
FiftyOne replied to HI PSI's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
If you're running that sort of power, you've probably got a pretty cluey tuner. I'd ask him tbh -
No updates this week, but here's what's been keeping me up late the last week anyway. Our baton for relay for life. I printed the daffodil & rotary gear, $10 gets you a lot of LEDs on eBay and 8 d cell batteries & you get a baton! https://youtu.be/CkXM0plERtY http://youtu.be/2RynpRrHFKY https://youtu.be/ZByDFuQ-Zm0

Fuel Pump Voltage Booster/controller
FiftyOne replied to HI PSI's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Herrods do a booster, some sort of adaption to what they use in the states for other applications. But really, for all the mucking around, just upgrade the pump. Just my opinion -
Cheers mate

Awesome thread. Love the fact you're doing this yourselves. Big totes peppy As much as I'm enjoying this build for the moment, I'd love to see some gearbox stuff. I'm thinking I could give that a go as my next big learning curve
