  1. I appreciate PHIL having a cruise in my honour
  2. Would have loved to but I was travelling the coast and only had that night left. Hills out to the east did look pretty inviting from a distance
  3. You're not the only one that feels that way
  4. ^whs
  5. So on some original wiring diagrams the gauge was missing. Asking about it, the issue seems to be that it was an addition late in the peace by marketing. The gauge wasn't calibrated correctly or something? But it was never implemented correctly, hence why sometimes it doesn't work. Apparently, the gauge was only meant to read to halfway as well
  6. Welcome to the site mate. Have you got a set of valve springs in it? To be safe I'd put them in. I'd also think about id or kpm injectors, but that's just me. Yes it'll get you 300, with a good tune. Yes it'll be safe and reliable, with a very good tune
  7. Half way.... If the dam thing works..... I need to double check tomorrow. I work with the guy that did a lot of the wire design at FPV, he was never happy with the way it was put in

    Boost

Not without risking limp modes, blowing the engine & other such shananagans. Do it right, get a tune
  9. Hey mate. Welcome to the site, good to have another on board. Got to be honest, prices aren't great, even with mods on these things. The Utes do hold value and that looks to have been done right without cutting the corners. There are tornados getting around for 17 in reasonable condition and still not finding buyers. I don't know about this one though. Maybe 15? But I'd only be having a bit of a guess
  10. Got to say it was a pretty good way to end a holiday. I admire phil's commitment to what he does and even to have the time to stop by and compare notes face to face with this guy was fun, but I soon learned he is a guy after my own heart with wanting to learn and give it a fair crack himself. Tip of the hat to you sir. So when we got talking about the beast not running right, well you just get stuck in & have a go. I've not really worked on a car with someone that is focused like Phil and we could just see each other running around doing everything. No need to double check, no need to talk, just very intense work. So a good time had by all, and seeing a smile again after fixing it up was pretty cool. Other things I learnt about Phil, very meticulous (exhibit a; every project he bloody works on), loves a bargain and knows everything there is to know about getting what you need at a great price. And when he says he doesn't know much about cars, he isn't joking but dam 11/10 for enthusiasm which always makes up for it. Which brings me to the thing that has always had me confused, he does all this fantastic work with the most minimal tools & work area. 0_o impressive to say the least. Guy must have balls the size of grapefruit cause something that intimidates me seems like just something you do to him. And as I'd said to him, what he does with his posts will save my ass when I get some time to clean up my ute. In all, most important thing I learnt was not to f*ck with Perth city council. They WILL tow your ride. I came out to find a tilt tray literally about to chain up & drag my hire car. Did I f*cking sh*t myself! I got the philmeup experience working at 2am and didn't get a park under the hotel for the night. I got up to shift it in the morning & im lucky I'm not at an impound yard getting that thing out right now! But in all, good times I've been holding back from making the statement but I did allude to it last night, this is going to be a fair challenge getting this ute ready, as much as I don't know phil, if there is a way to do it, he'll do it. But a fair dam challenge.
  11. Not that I've ever bothered putting over a pit. First time I've heard of the 5 gas test. Plus, I personally wouldn't buy anything that the owner wouldn't agree to rwc themselves. I know cops in my area don't give you any hassle unless you give them much of a reason to
  12. wow. Can't say enough how much I love living in Victoria. No one really bats an eye until you screw up and get nailed hooning. Then life's hell
  13. When you find them, skull drag the mother f*cker
  14. Maybe stock maps, but if the injectors are ok, leaving the old values in there should be fine. But we are talking actually getting in & making a new tune almost anyway
  15. Hrmm. One supplier I've spoken to has advised 6 Pistons won't fit?
  16. Any idea if D1r's in 20 will clear 6 piston fronts?
  17. Genuine FoMoCo only
  18. Hey Peppy, considering you've been having traction issues, have you thought about finding a hub dyno to jump on?
  19. Yeah, not to say they are bullet proof, but they're not that bad
  20. Welcome to the site mate My opinion for what it's worth is most of the reliability issues come from modifications. This said, cars regardless of type, all require ongoing maintenance. If it's a turbo car (of any make) you need to commit to running a higher obtain fuel and torque manifolds every now & again for example. The milkshake you're referring to is actually caused by the heat exchanger failing, and really there's nothing you can do about that except swap the exchanger out for a pwr unit. The Zf if a good box too. It's quicker than the manuals and it's smooth
  21. always love when people show pride in their ride
