  2. My f6 has a similar issue cranks like a champ and that first 10 seconds it idles like a dog. I noticed when I big toe the accelerator, the revs drop right off and it wants to stall out for a moment. I've got a full aftermarket fuel system, and a new coil cell battery that I am truely astounded with, the only other thing it could be there might be an earth (which reminds me I need to spanner check everything in the engine bay) coils and plugs are good as far as I'm aware. So I'm still looking for a root cause. Other things have been a little more sparatic, like a fluctuating idle in neutral every now and again. So I'm thinking it might be for me a TB, maybe it's sticking overnight and the idle control goes to sh*t until it gets cracked open in gear the first time. It wouldn't be setting off a code though as even with the feedback loop it creates between the servo and the sensor, it might be too fine to set it off. I don't enough about the emmisions controls on the B/F series to know, but maybe the exhaust recirc valve could be sticking? Again, don't know enough, or even if they run one (can someone correct me pls?)

  6. Very interested to know if it's a true bolt in replacement as they say. I know there are some other kits around that require a lot more work to fit up

  9. Actually Puff raise a good point there. If we're starting to talk much more than a short block swap, I would consider taking the whole show to a specialist tuner or even a performance engine builder. While its apart, might as well go to town

  12. I think you can still buy fg short blocks direct from ford? Might be the quickest fix (plus the money there on) to get going again?
  13. Yeah, I only mention it as a small ray of hope. And holy crap that's a lot of oil to consume
  14. Couldn't be a blown seal in the back of the turbo housing? Once a bit of pressure builds in the housing it may push back against the seal & hold. Hence the smoke at idle. I mention it as I knew a guy that had one let go in spectacular fashion I would be replacing the exhaust sensors too once the issue is tracked as they will be nuggeted with a healthy coat of burnt dinosaur juice

  16. I am a little surprised by the blow back here. Not too many people have many nice things to say. Are there many things to like out of any of this?

  18. Don't let the 'turbo stuff' spook you Phil. From speaking with you, working with you & seeing your posts, this isn't so much out of your league. Maybe just cause it's a bastard of a bunch of parts you're dealing with but from what I've seen of your work, if you can get the bits & get it together, the rest is easy. My suggestion for what little its worth, swap the pipes & mani back to stock. Get it all looking A1. Leave the ecu, dump & injectors in place. Make the rest as unimpeachabley clean as possible. Ok, here's the deal. With that tune & so on, that's a different issue, so leave it. Drive the thing for a few days & see if the DTC light comes on, drive like grandma k? Then get it to the pit. No codes, runs ok bla bla. They look & hopefully dont know FPV's dont have 5" cats. If they drive it hard, it MAY throw a code? but might not too. In that case, you ask why they where driving your ute around hard enough for the light to come on? "wtf you done to me ute mate?" Look, as long as the thing can run in vacuum without throwing a code, I'd say you're good.
