  1. AFAIK second hand RS4s (if you can find one) are still fetching close to 100K. B5 S4 is a great performance package. It's definitely a class or 3 above the Ford in terms of quality and refinement. It's also very moddable, but dollar for gain would definitely go to the XR6T. I guess what you need to decide on when making a choice between the two is whether you a) prefer Quattro over RWD b) are happy to buy an older car c) are happy to spend extra $$$ (and I mean LOTS) on servicing, maintenance and parts.
  2. Put me down as a tentative
  3. Warm up the badge with a hairdryer (DON'T get the paint hot or you will ruin it - all you are doing is warming up the glue on the badge!!) and as the others have said, use some fishing wire or dental floss to remove the badge. Clean off excess glue with prepsol.
  4. Slightly OT but still about the politics involved.... Article in today's Herald Sun by Andrew Bolt. http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/st...5E25717,00.html
  5. Does the F6 have a differnt cam profile?
  6. heh I had a run-in with a Rex last weekend on a single lane stretch of private road. He was behind me when I booted it and in all honesty he stayed at my back bumper til I was about halfway through 3rd gear, than I started to creap away. My car at the time had about 1200km, mind you. The funny thing was I backed off at about 160kmh, and he overtook me, got in front, and flashed his hazards as if he beat me.
  7. Sounds like you have a cool dad. I reckon my dad would kill me if I even suggested a run
  8. Pardon my ignorance but HPF = Amberly, yes? If so, I have heard nothing but praise about them. I have another question about edit. I know this has caused some arguments in the past, but I haven't read a definitive comment - can the edit be traced by the dealer at service time? Please don't comment unless you 100% know the correct answer.
  9. Paint the centres black and they would look 10 times better, IMO.
  10. You're looking at the trade in price, not the second hand value.
  11. A mate of mine ran his M3 at Calder and had a G-Tech to compare times and the G-Tech read .2sec slower than the official Calder Park time.
  12. Mine has just over 1000km now and I notice this as well - There's a hesitation at about 3500-4000RPM (feels a bit like a slipping clutch, but I know the clutch isn't slipping if that makes any sense?) and it feels really flat above about 4500RPM as well. I have a mate who works at a dealership and he told me at the first service (3000km) they reflash it and this should hopefully fix the problem. So going by that, maybe there's some dud software out there?Thoughts?
  13. Menace looks nothing like Phantom. I'm dreading Fantasy - it'll look like all those riced up cars with colour flip paint schemes, IMO. What next? 19" chrome wheels standard? 12" Monster tacho mounted on the bonnet?
  14. I'm really surprised that the Subarus (and even the XR6T) are on that list in place of many Euros. On the other side, no surprises there.

    My T

I finally picked up my new car on Tuesday - a BA XR6 Turbo with 6 speed manual and in Shockwave Blue. I picked it up with 24km on the clock, and it now has just over 700 after driving up to Lancefield on Tuesday night, and then to Yea on Wednesday. I'm really loving this car - the power comes on very smoothly and strongly and for a large, 1700kg family sedan, it handles really well... the suspension's firm but comfortable, and it corners heaps better than my old BMW with modded suspension ever did. I can't wait for the engine to be run in properly and for me to get the confidence to actually push it a bit harder through the twisties. Interior's nice and comfy. The seats are supportive, and the premium sound option is great. No real issues with it - the exhaust is a bit loose at the tip, but I'll get that fixed at the first service. The 6 speed is a little noisy, but from what I've read, that's pretty common. It's also a bit notchy but then again, the car only has 700ish kms on the clock. Other than that, as I said earlier, I'm really enjoying this car! One question though - it pulls all the way up to 4500RPM, but then feels flat after that, even though peak power comes on at 5250RPM - is it just that it's run out of torque and I don't get that "pinned back to your seat" feeling? Or is it that the engine's still fresh and needs to be loosened up a bit more? Or are stock T's just flat at the top end? Or am I nuts? I picked it up from Courtney and Patterson in Heidelberg and can't recommend them enough - they were fantastic to deal with from the moment I test drove a T way back in June to the moment I picked it up almost 2 months later. Here are some dodgy pics I took Friday night after work in my driveway before it got dark.. I'll post some more once I find the time to take some quality pics, but for now I am too busy enjoying it and having fun. Why am I still on the computer? Where are my keys?

    Newbie

Congrats! I picked mine up yesterday and I'm loving every second of driving it
  17. I was told today that the BF won't be released til November...
  18. Back on topic.. I was told today that the new BF Falcon will be released in November this year - no BA MkIII. I was also told that the na 6s will have 190kw and the cars equipped with the new 6 speed auto (including Fairmont) will be as quick as the current XR6Ts. Dunno about that, but yeah. By the way, I was told by the dealer when I finally picked up my car this afternoon I'll have pics up soon.
  19. If it wasn't for their weak chassis' the VLT's would be going heaps faster than they already are IMO. That's where the BA will have a huge advantage and has already narrowed the gap despite the VL having a 20 year head start. All that said, I don't think VLT vs XR6T is a fair comparison. I also agree that the VL Calias is the best looking Commo ever made.
  20. Didn't Rick Bates give his 2c (and 2 thumbs down) as part of the BFYB article? Guys, don't forget that this was a BANG FOR YOUR BUCK article, where they only measure the car's BANG (straight line and corner speeds) for your BUCK (dollar) so yeah, the FPV may be a better overall package, but in this particular test, obviously it didn't have enough bang.
  21. I can't speak for that particular GTR but a lot of people mod their cars specifically to win dyno comps ie the power comes on all at once with a very narrow powerband which would basically be unstreetable, hence the "slow" time. Are you referring to Leawah's purple GTR? I know I'd rather have a 300kw car with a smooth power delivery which can be driven everyday than a 600kw dyno queen which would be a pig to drive on the street and lag like a mofo on every gear change.
  22. I don't mean to stir trouble but NS.com is always good for a laugh. I have never encountered a more one-eyed and biased bunch of people. There was even a thread in there a while ago where a guy was saying he would rather own his S13 Silvia to a brand new M3... horses for courses for sure, but I think that shows the extent of some people's bias. At the end of the day though, its a Silvia forum so they will always think their car is better.. same way Fords are better than Holdens on this forum, and the ways that Holdens are better than Fords on Expensive Daewoo forums. IMO, just enjoy what you have and like, and let people think they have the better car if that's how they feel about it. No number of words posted on the net will change people's minds or perceptons... just give them a wink as you blow by them
  23. I'd be considering it defective and demanding a new car or at least a reimbersment. It will effect resale values when time comes to sell the car.
  24. Definitely. If any of you have ever seen a V10 Viper engine in the metal, you will know that it's about twice the size of a Honda engine bay...
  25. I got an update on mine - should be arriving 5 August. I can't wait!
