  1. Um, 12's down the quarter in standard trim isn't fast? And Aussie vs German quality - there is definitely no comparison. Come to think of it, Aussie vs just about anything other than American and the Aussie cars are put to shame. Even the Brits are doing it better these days. The one-eyedness of this forum is amazing and funny. I thought you implied that Aussie cars were better because they are Aussie? Is this correct? I like the way you're thinking... Secondly, the M5 runs high 12s down the quarter. Look it up yourself. I cbf. Thirdly, you took 2 swipes at me when my post lacked any animousity. Not that I really care, just goes to show your immaturity and possibly your IQ, I guess. I stand by my comment that unless you have ever owned, driven, or ridden in one of these cars (looking at one through a barrier at the motor show doesn't count),your opinions will change. I'm not telling you to stop loving Fords and to start becoming a Europhile, I'm just saying open your eyes to that fact that there may actually be a better car out there than a Ford Falcon (SHOCK!! HORROR!!!). I also understand that my comments will get me no-where on a Ford XR6T forum, but really - look outside the square and open your eyes a bit.

  6. Don't be afraid to stretch it's legs. Don't let it sit on the same RPM for too long (eg on the freeway don't just turn on the CC and cruise it - alter your revs. drop a few gears and let it rev). If you baby the car, you will end up with a baby performer.

  8. Has anyone else noticed the front bar on a BF XR resembles a Ford Focus? The wheels are ugly too, but other than that, it's basically no different to a BA. The rear lights are a subtle but effective improvement. Interior wise, the extra colour coding is also a massive improvement. It's a wonder they never did that with the BA to begin with. The FPVs look heaps better though.
  9. I had a bit of a play with one and recorded 0-100 in 5.7 and a quarter in 14.2@102mph. Only had a couple of runs before a cop came and spoiled the party. A week later at Calder I ran a 13.8@98mph - so the GTech under-estimated my ET but overestimated my trap speed.

  12. Personally I prefer shifting gears myself (ie manual).. after having an auto car for the past 3 years before my T, I can honestly say that I was bored sh*tless with the self-shifter. I don't mind sitting in heavy traffic with the manual either, but then again everyone is different and likes different things. What have you had done to your 1600? Can you post pics? My bro and I have had an unfinished 1600 sitting in our garage for the past 5 years!!

  16. I was changing gears at around 6000RPM - maybe a fraction before. I crossed the finish line toward the top end of 4th. I really think it's the launches which made the biggest difference - dial in 3500 RPM and slip the clutch.
  17. Sorry to bring up an old thread.. I took my car to Calder last night - it's completely stock, 6 spd manual. Running on half tank of Optimax, stock 17s with stock Dunlop tyres running 38psi (that's what I run on the street), took out the spare tyre. 13.8@98mph.   18. I've had my car 3 months and put on just under 10000km, and the OBC still says 17.2L/100km. I do heaps of city driving, but its not uncommon to go for long drives on the highway which I assume should lower the consumption?
  19. They look great! I have the same wheels on my BMW, in 18". The shape of the spokes make them look even bigger than they actually are!

  22. Just to clear any confusion, I believe what rboksic meant is 240 to 260 KW at the rear wheels. This being a crapload more than the standard 240KW at the flywheel. To provide a comparison, a standard car will produce anywhere between 185 to 210KW at the rear wheels. Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is edit only? No custom tune, no exhaust, no CAI?
