I noticed mine was making some pretty nice sounding spool up sounds, but after taking it in for the 15K service, they tightened the intake manifold bolts and it stopped. So no more spooling sounds, but the flutter is still there and pretty audible. My car's a stock 6spd manual.

Why would they be quoting rear wheel power and not flywheel power? Sounds a bit sus to me.... XR6NA, Expensive Daewoo have a twin turbo SV6 in the pipeline... or so I have heard.

I know for a fact that the police, some insurance companies, and even the EPA read car forums, and even take pictures/video at car shows and driving events. Be careful - if you have any mods which may be questionable hide your number plates.

I was there that night and was pretty amazed by the F6. It looked/sounded standard, but I always thought it had a bit more. Knowing it was stock, I'm pretty impressed The track was slippery and it was a warm night, so there may possibly be a high 12 in it for him. Any idea what his 60 foot times were?

Seems to me like a comparo between V8s and turbo 4s. Maybe the question should be "Why is there no GT or XR8"?

Telstra cars have the same ECU as every other T. Mine is a manual and I've had it at 5000RPM in neutral (clutch engaged - experimenting with launch RPMs at the drags)

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix the alignment on my headlights? I couldn't find any screws that I would normally find on most other cars. It's a BA XR6T. Also, can you please post some pics of stock engine bays? I am curious to see mainly the area behind the RHS headlight - the battery and power steering bottle in particular, as well as the air con unit which is at the back of the LHS. Reason being, my car had a run in with a roo a while back and I just got the car back from the beater's and the engine bay just doesn't look right. Thanks.

I've routinely destroyed WRX's with a/m exhausts, 1 even had an FMIC. Mind you raced on a roll which happily removes the AWD advantage <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Doesn't mean anything. I have seen heavily modded WRXs get chomped by stock Evos.

I saw Pantera back in 94 - awesome! Most memorable recently for me though was Soulfly/Hatebreed back in 02 (03 maybe?). That was pretty wild. I was at Korn/Static X/Fear Factory last year - the was pretty good too, although I went mainly to see Fear Factory and they were the opening act, so it wasn't as good as it could be. Korn were pretty good but Static X stole the show, IMO. I wouldn't mind seeing Korn again but their most recent music sucks so I'm hoping they play their older stuff more than their new garbage. Also, Static X are returning with Ill Nino end Feb/start March. Sorry for the ramblings, hardly anyone I know likes this stuff - not even my best mates. I have to drag my missus along to these events

You caught up in third because he backed off. The acceleration on Evo's doesn't let up, even if it's well over 200kmh. My mate's Evo 8 has exhaust, CAI and ECU mods and "only" 183awkw (they had 199fwkw standard) and he chomped me, even with a dodgy start (they bog down easily unless you really abuse the clutch) where I was ahead in first gear.

Agreed with everything geea said, especially the part about not worrying about reaction times and getting your launch down-pat. I do disagree though about keeping the window open, even just a little bit. This creates aerodynamic drag. But I am sure he has more experience at the track than I do... As for technique, my stock 6spd pulled a 13.8@98 with a 2.0 60 foot time. Launching involved 3000RPM and then feathering the throttle off launch.

I love Shockwave but if Phantom was available for MkII, I would've taken that instead. I have really started to take a liking to Vibe, too.

Remove spare tyre, rear seat, front passenger seat, carpet, door trim, stereo. Don't use air-con (actually, remove that too). wind your windows up and if you have one, keep the sunroof closed. Pump your tyres up to 50psi. Use 1/8 throttle and make sure the car stays off boost.

Pretty much all of the above except I haven't had issues with the front seat mounts and cooler piping. I also hate the fact that the engine bay is a different colour as well as inside the filler cap. The panel gaps on the quarter panel really sh*t me. Oh yeah, and I hate how the mirrors shake with the bass in my stereo. Even a standard XT has mirror-shake.
