for me, 300rwkw is more then enough at the moment! Driving in the wet, I'm very cautious when overtaking, especially on two way roads. I rarely use boost in the wet, when I do it's only brought on very gradually, and I won't put the foot flat! In the dry though, it's really a different story, I've basically adapted my driving style to suit. At first it took a little getting used too, as I was still used to just hitting the go pedal.. now I'm more cautious of bumps, dirt, or anything else that may or may not be seen on the road! It's all about the right foot, and it took me a little while to really figure it out. My advice, to anyone who hasn't had a T with power upgrades before... although it will cost a little more, I'd be more inclined to go in stages.. I'm glad I had 250rwkw before going straight to 300rwkw, and I'm glad I'll have had 300rwkw before my next power upgrade to 350rwkw. There's almost a world of difference between stock-250-300-350 etc etc. Obviously the experienced blokes, who've been there done that, then they can go straight for 500 but for the younger blokes, in hindsight, I'm very thankful I did it in stages... and that's after an accident too. At the end of the day, it will depend on the driver, and their attitude. I've really calmed down a lot with my car, even when people egg me on, or when I have that Late model camira up my ass. Sure I'll give it a squirt, but I don't think it's worth the life of myself, partner, child or anyone else's. At the end of the day, I'd probably use my cars full power, a few times a month... the potential to lose one's licence is massive.. going WOT to 5000rpm through 3rd or 4th will usually see the speedo go way past the limit. Enjoy the power, but I've realised I don't need to give it hell everytime I hop in the car... perhaps I'm going soft since my 25th birthday or maybe having a child has softened those hardened habits

the round about heading towards manuka near st clares on canberra ave/wentworth ave is one of the worst for cars turning right from the left hand lane. I drive that road everyday for work, and I see people turn right from the left lane at least 4-5 times monthly.. I've nearly been cut off by the pr*cks too... I tend to try and stay in the left hand lane on that round about, especially when I'm in the XR.. I don't need any further headaches from idiots who don't know the road rules.. FFS, it even has arrows pointing which way you can turn.. how hard can it be?

I had a thread on this issue a fair while back now.. and I'm yet to try and resolve the issue. I've just learnt to live with it. Mine only does it at part throttle, when cruising around 2000-2500rpm. However, when I push the go pedal, no more surge. Still not sure what the problem is, but I've got used to it.. the missus drove the car for the first time in ages the other day, and she rang me concerned about it... so it's obviously still present, I just ignore it and forget about it

Can You Guess Who's Car It Is?
JimmyXR6T04 replied to phantomchic's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
I thought number three was my car... this one perhaps -
no need to sell it just get it on a dyno, it'll cost you no more then $100, or come to one of the dyno days it'll be around $50.. if it's safe, then you're all well and good.. if it's not, then decide whether to sell the tuner or get a tune. Either way, if you've got a full exhaust, and no edit, you'll more then likely run into overboost issues on the factory ecu anyway.. then you'll have to buy another box and get it tuned

I got done a few years ago in the T.. the cop was behind me and I blasted off.. he got me for 15km/h over, but under 25km/h... I just took it on the chin, as I'm sure I was doing a fair bit more then that But if you're certain you weren't speeding, then contest it... might mate got done a while back in his WRX... now, he was guilty but not to the extent the cop was implying. The cop tried to pin him for too much, leaving huge holes in his story.. he even told the court that the roads were soaking wet after a heavy rain... the bureau of meterology gave my mates lawyer evidence that the rain that day/time was minimal, and would have little effect on the road at that time of day (the rian was hours earlier) a few other flaws in his story popped up, and before ya know it, it was thrown out of court... it cost my mate a fair bit in legal fees, but saved his licence and a potential criminal charge.

a common theme I see in these types of threads is the amount of people who say they know the capabilities of their car, and of their ability.. Knowing your abilities, and the cars ability is all well and good on a race track, however, on the street there are simply far too many variables which I believe cancel out most peoples ability.. Even a super car driver, who knows his stuff, and races on a street isn't safe.. no matter how well they know the car and their abilities. Unfortunately it's not necessarily YOUR ability, or your cars ability, but other road users ability too. Not to mention roo's, potholes, and other unforeseen dangers on the road. I know it's slightly off topic, but it's something I thought was worth mentioning.

a pretty good game, but I think the ref spoilt it a bit. Too many penalties, when he should have let the game flow a bit more.. it's origin, it's fast, let it flow! Some bad calls against both the teams too. The blues will get it back in game II
-
that's how mine is too.. do you get a quiet psshh at most rpm?? regardless if it has built any boost? then it'll give the louder psshh tututu when it actually builds boost.

I was keen to upgrade, but I think I'll be waiting a year or so.. I'll have had my car for 5 years in october 2009, so I might even wait till 2010, to see what they've come up with since then. One thing for sure, I'll be doing my research well before I jump into a new car, no more buying a T5 manual type of mistake By 2010, I'm sure the series II will be out and a lot more will be known about how good the car is, or how bad it is. Although being one of the first on the road would be nice... but bugger that, I'll let some one else find out what it's like
-
sometimes my T5 is hard to get reverse and 1st (ever since I had the clutch upgraded).. I usually just knock it into 4th or 3rd, and then try again and it's fine. Probably not the same issue though

there's heaps of "quieter" places for a drink, I think you'll be fine mate as Envy said, plenty of sports clubs. As for the cops, I've never had an issue when them here. Except for the time I went flying past an unmarked car
-
there's heaps of "sports" clubs around and stuff, good for sitting back with a beer and flutter on the pokies. Thursday nights are good for 2 for 1 drinks at some night clubs in civic. There's some good drives, and scenic places around canberra. The snowies is always good, so too are places like the cotter and tidbinbilla. They're always a good drive. And yep, APK are still open in woden. I don't mind canberra, I love the fact it's not congested, and it's pretty easy to get from A to B..
-
unfortunately there's not much to do here mate.. in saying that, I like canberra. Bugger all traffic, and decent roads Night life is pretty dead, thursdays, fridays and saturdays being the main exception. It depends what sort of stuff you're into though.

I haven't heard of dating their flatmate, but heard of stories where they were shag buddies

Aftermarket Replacement Of The Oem Bov
JimmyXR6T04 replied to J2Racing's topic in Blow Off Valve Workshop
there's a few threads on "how to" do the reversing of the BOV. It's basically a matter of taking off the cross over, blocking up the plumb back intake hole, and that's about it. To be honest, I've noticed my car not boosting as much lately, so I'm not sure if its BOV related or something else. I've checked all hoses etc. So I'm not sure what to do... thinking I might put it back to standard and see how it goes. -
Looks awesome mate I too think it would look great on both sides. Looks great with the FPV grill in it, top stuff
-
Looks awesome mate, I love it. Clean, neat and simple. Love the rims too

I'm with ryno.. recently turned 25. So I'm hoping it goes down next year. Currently I pay $1460 and it's insured for 30k. I pay monthly for no extra cost Insurance is a joke, the difference in premiums is crazy...
-
that looks awesome I guess I got a few more options to consider for my next car now...
-
I agree... getting each spoke makes my fingers ache afterwards
-
I think it depends what sort of dyno it is... I know that a particular dyno hear in canberra can be run in 3rd or 4th and it makes very little difference (I've witnessed it myself, and have the dyno chart). DD dyno's need to be in 4th from what I know. But that's true, at that power level there shouldn't be any problems if it's strapped down properly.
-
I have this problem at some servos.. not all. so I've put it down to the bowser. I was told by a servo attendant that if it happens, try twisting and turning the nozzle and the surrounding equipment around the hose.. it helped a few times

is a 6sp manual out of the question?? I only say this, because it has been proven to be able to handle big torque and power. You'd be able to modify it a bit, and still know that the box will be fine with towing. I don't think the 6sp auto's have really stood up to much power/punishment just yet.. and adding a trailer (with mods) is only going to increase the chance of something going wrong. Sure there are some big powered cars out there, but not many have done the sort of driving/drag strip stuff that the old 4sp had to put up with it. Good luck either way

staffies are great. Mine's currently living with mum and dad, because she's a bit hypo around the bub.. not that she'd intentionally hurt the baby, but she just doesn't realise how heavy and strong she is. They just love being with people
