yep, I'm a canberra boy I should be at the dyno day, but I won't be running my car, should be a great day.

my excess was $2500.. I wish it was $900!!

make sure your instrument cluster is set at full brightness, it'll make it easier to see, but not sure how much easier!

it all depends how much OT is around, and how willing I am to do it! Last week I worked about 88 hours over a 7 day period. Other weeks I simply do my required shifts, and nothing more... today I'm working 7am-11pm I'm a sucker for punishment. Gotta love OT payments though! But on average I'll do between 20-30hrs OT each fortnight.

that may be true.. but, at present I am on a $60 a month plan with telstra, and my phone bills are usually between $80-$130 per month. So, even with the higher call rate (which isn't that much higher) I still have to rack up over $550 worth of calls before it starts costing me anymore then $87. For me, it was the better option.. I probably could have just gone on a straight out $49 cap, and still be streets ahead, but I wanted a new toy Cheers for that mate, I'll make sure I do it as soon as I get the phone

I just thought I'd share the following with you guys, might save some people some money! Well, it was the best deal I could find in the 1 and half days of searching! well, with my 2 year contract coming to an end with telstra, I went phone shopping yesterday. Had a few phones in mind, but I really liked the look and feel of the N95. Anyway, after going to several places, and prices ranging from $25-$48 on top of a $49 or $79 cap, I finally found a good deal today! Well, it was the best out of all the places I've been. It's through vodafone direct deals. I called up the local vodafone shop, but they couldn't even match the price. Basically, I'm on a $79 cap with $550 worth of calls, and 100 free SMS, using the N95. All other shops wanted at least $25 on top of the cap to be able to keep the N95. So, with insurance of around $8 per month, my total monthly bill will be $87.. considering I was going to go on a $49 cap and pay $27 for the phone, I think I've scored a good deal. Here's the link if anyones interested, I did it all over the phone - took about 10-15mins. http://www.vodafonedirectdeals.com.au/supercap79.aspx Best of all, if I want to cancel my plan it's simply half the cost of the cap multiplied by how many months are left on the contract :smilesandbanana: so even if I cancelled after one day, I'd still get the phone for under $1000.. this deal is only valid till 26/8/07 though.

I'm anxious about mine, although so far it's survived about 16 months and 15000kms... I don't drive it hard often though... it's just gotta last another year or 2 and I'll be happy

cheers mate, I might try the inland way up thereand then coastal on the way back.

I think a T56 conversion is at least 7k.. depending how cheap you can get the gearbox for. Mal wood are selling reconditioned ones for around $4800 at the moment. Add labour, clutch etc and it soon starts costing. My plan, should my T5 blow... put another T5 in it, and putt around till it's time to sell!! Another option is to strip all the go fast bits, and take it to a dealer and see what they offer.. I got offered 23k for mine, and they didn't even drive it. If you get an ok trade in deal, trade it in for a car with a 6sp manual or 6sp auto and whack all the good gear on it.. that's my 2nd option should the T5 go. How did it happen mate?? did you give it a bootful in 5th?

cheers guys we're planning on being in gold coast, then predominantly sunshine coast area (maroochydore). Tab, I'll let ya know how we go. A cruise/dinner or something would be great! I'll see how we go for time once we get there, we're leaving bubs with the grandparents, so I'm trying to screw a few extra nights in... depends on what happens with bubs though. Plus the missus wants to do all the theme parks! But I'm sure we'll have a day somewhere!!
-
cheers mate I'll have to look up some maps and get a better idea of where I wanna go.. the last time we just drove north! followed the signs pretty much. I'll probably go inland one way, then coastal the other. I'll be sure to report back my findings!

Hey guys, Later on this year we plan on going for a drive to Brisbane/Sunshine coast. Thought about flying, but we want the freedom of having our car up there for all the places we wanna go and people we wanna visit. Plus, it might actually put some kms on the XR - it hasn't even done 6000km this year Anyway, I've heard from several people that going inland is probably longer, but generally quicker. I'm not too fussed really, I was planning on going one way up there, and then the other way back. But I thought I'd ask the advice of some of the people who may have travelled Canberra-Brisbane, and what route they recommend and why? I'm looking forward to it though, it's been a long time since I last drove up to QLD... that was back in 2000 for schoolies, and we just went the coastal route.. and got there ASAP. I guess it doesn't really matter which way we go, but I thought I'd see if anyone had any input into their preference. If we decide we wanna get there asap, then obviously I'd like to know the quickest route if anyone has any experience. Cheers guys

get it edited with some injectors, exhaust and intercooler then give it to top gear

good stuff mate they're limited to about 230km/h.. also, I think the 4sp auto is probably better in the BA MKI, as the 5sp manual is probably just as fragile, and costs between $5-8k to replace with a 6sp (not sure about how you'd go over there though). The 4sp probably costs around $3-4k over here to strengthen and make it handle relatively big power. Enjoy the ride mate
-
shop around a bit mate.. 30k for that seems a bit much, considering I priced up a BF MKI about 9 months ago for around 38-39k without trying too hard. It was a demo with around 4000km on it. That was in canberra too! There are plenty of bargains out there at the moment, just need to be patient.

yep, looks great dude

geez mate, that's an awesome result!! what else have you done since the last tune?? And on gentechs dyno, that's even better! A lot of the people from the dyno day had their cars running about 10-15kw down compared to other dynos and their old dyno from what I was told. We're gonna have to catch up again some time, so you can show me how the beast goes You'll have to go to the next dyno day, and show up some of the LS1 owners... I think the best on the day was about 424rwkw, so you wouldn't be too far off!!
-
yeah, sorry mate I don't like your chances... I bought my BA MKI about 4 weeks before the MKII came out, had I known it was coming out I would have waited..

is it street racing if the little 4cyl next to you takes off hard, chirps the tyres and revs the guts out of the motor in getting to 80 or 100km/h and you pull away quicker because of the natural power difference the laws would really need some solid definitions! It might appear as though they were racing, but the guy in the more powerful car isn't.. I don't think confiscating cars is the answer.. sure, if it's a constant repeat offender, who's been caught numerous times then perhaps taking the car is a good thing... but isn't crime the reason we have jails?? Surely it would make more sense to send the person to jail, and take away their freedom to drive, live and socialise in the world. If some one gets caught on numerous 'street racing' charges then perhaps jail time is needed.. first time offenders might get away with a month of their car impounded, or perhaps in more serious cases a suspended sentence. I don't think there would be too many people keen to 'street race' when the consequences mean jail time! Keep in mind, money to some people means very little. On the other hand, someones 5k bomb might be all they really have.. for some one with a low income, losing their 5k car could be quite hard.. it all depends on what the person earns.. at least if you can afford a 50k car, if it were taken and crushed, the chances are you'd be able to afford at least another decent car (5-15k - perhaps more) to get you around town in... someone who earns very little or does it tough, 5k would be a big hit, and saving for a new car would be quite hard.
-
considering the amount of work, effort and money put into BCLs car, and it achieved near on 600rwkw, I think you'd be very optimistic in getting 700rwkw. I think that's a whole new level, however, if you have the money behind you then good luck

I'll say it again... I'd rather the government act the way it has with the Haneef case, rather then wait till an attack does occur. Unfortunately, it's either one way or the other... what's the point of catching a terrorist after they've blown 30-40-50 maybe 100s of people up? Unfortunately, in this day and age, an attack could happen anywhere, anytime. IF the AFP has a reasonable belief that some one is a terrorist, or linked to a terrorist organisation, wouldn't it be better to detain, question and get all the info out of them, then have the chance of releasing them later. Rather then leave it too late and have an attack, and ruin the lives of 100s.. Unfortunately investigations don't always go exactly to plan, but it doesn't mean that there wasn't a need for the investigation.
-
unfortunately, in some instances it's a case of being proactive or reactive.. would we rather our police react to a terrorist threat when it's too late, or be proactive and occasionally come away empty handed... seriously guys, it's not like the AFP are gonna be pulling over ordinary people and detaining them because they "suspect" something. They will no doubt have to have a reasonable belief that a terrorist attack will occur, or the person is likely to be involved.
-
the thing is, the AFP and all police forces have a duty to investigate these sorts of allegations to the fullest of their ability. They had to release him on a few technicalities by the looks of it, but so what? it doesn't mean he's innocent. There's a lot of little things that suggest he may be guilty... now here in lies the major problem. What IF the AFP and other police forces DIDN'T do a single thing about him, because they were scared they may not get a conviction, and that would reflect bad police work.. so instead, they simply let him go on his daily business, only to discover several weeks later he was involved in a major attack. Once the public finds out that he killed 30 or so people, and the AFP had "minor" evidence but didn't detain him, what do you think the public would think then? Sure he got dragged through a lot of sh*t, but so do many other people. I'd much rather the AFP look into all these types of cases to the utmost of their ability. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it's all too necessary to arrest/detain people of interest where slight evidence exists. It's much better to be safe, and thorough when dealing with suspected terrorists. You have to remember that the AFP deal with all other police forces around the world. The job they have isn't easy, and it'll never be straight forward or clear cut. From the evidence put forward, I believe there was more then enough reason to suspect him!!

Bigger Injectors On Standard Tune?
JimmyXR6T04 replied to senna_T's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
drop your flash tuner off to whoever you want to do the tune, and let them know what mods you plan on putting in... then they can whack in one of their generic tunes to ensure it arrives safely, then they can do the custom tune. Once the mods are done, load the generic tune and drive sedately to your tuners shop for the final touch ups -
awesome write up mate great to see some unbiased and intelligent reviews.. from some one who has owned/driven both cars. No doubt the reviews of the Bogan special will become better, or worse as the months go by and you figure out all the little bits and pieces.
