  1. well since starting this thread, on advice from Simon, I am now adding a fuel pump and hi flow cat. So the power will inevitably push 300rwkw... so I guess I'll really have to see how the T5 holds up. Hopefully my driving style can at least give me a year!! if any one else has experience with the T5 and this power level, that would be greatly appreciated!! I suppose the thread has changed some what since it started out as being about qtr mile times and power figures for the listed mods!! Sorry for the random change! I'm still interested in the qtr mile times with the T5 and the mods I've listed, so if you have advice on that, please feel free to mention it!
  2. cdm, I dont really want the T56 for the extra performance (sorry if I sounded like I did) I was more interested in it for its ability to cope with the extra power and torque. However, if I'm heading that way, I will send you a pm and take you up on your offer, that would be great! cheers ballbreaker, so your driving style wasn't too aggressive?? I'm by no means an aggressive driver, except on a few occasions. So driving normally will still hurt the box that much?? When I say normal, I usually shift at around 2200rpm to 2500rpm, and only on occasions take it past 5500rpm. usually taking it to 4000-4500 had enough to blow away other cars.
  3. let me know how it goes after the dyno Leon! would be keen to know, as it could be another good option!
  4. cheers Raphoon, I sort of knew that it was the torque and low down grunt, and Simon is aware of my T5, and at the time standard clutch, so power was delayed to save the clutch. Now I am going for even more power, so I guess the low down grunt will have to be slightly delayed yet again, at least until I have enough coin for the T56! I dont mind having the power come on gradually, feels good when the boost really kicks in around the 3500-4000rpm, can only imagine what 300rwkw will feel like!! I'm just trying to get as much info as possible and prepare as best I can!!
  5. looks good Leon! but obviously then the piping will be custom and different. How hard is it to do the piping?? I would prefer a straight bolt on... but if no grinding is involved! Is it a bar and plate?? or can you get either? Price roughly??
  6. cheers josh! So they are made to fit the xr6t piping?? let me know how you go, as I might be interested!!
  7. I dont know if I am willing to risk an insurance claim (incase of an accident) due to grinding of the car though! Might just have to bite the bullet though!!
  8. Raphoon, Did you drive the car hard in those 2 weeks?? or was it just normal driving?? I dont belt the car every drive, although I will occasionally take it to 5800rpm in first and second, some times third... but usually wont do 1st to 2nd and to 3rd in one hit.. usually take off hard in first and second then chill in third... or hammer from a rolling start in second or third. I really dont wanna kill the gearbox yet... if I drive relatively sedately with occasional whipping of a Late model camira will the box old up ok? especially if I put in some transmaxZ. Does anyone know of any T5 upgrade kits?? that can strengthen the box some what, at minimal cost??
  9. I'm pretty sure I will get the ASE cooler, however I'm not sure that I wanna grind at the car, especially when it comes down to insurance factors. I will see how it goes I suppose!
  10. dingah, I believe that it is a four door, however, in some of the pics it clearly has 2 doors! so perhaps there will be an option? or perhaps the 2 door is the euro version, as I swear I saw it with 4 doors at the sydney motor show, and in some pics. Actually, I have my own pics that I took at the motor show!! totally forgot about them. Its a four door.
  11. Simon, this is the cooler I am thinking about for my car (ASE bar and plate) Do you think its good value?? Are you using it on one of your cars?? Or another customers? let me know what you think of it, and how it performs, as I said last night mate, im in no real rush to get all this done, so I wanna make the right decisions.
  12. cheers for all the replies guys! I guess I have some decisions to make!! In no real rush as of yet, still organising my set up with Simon, so I guess I have more time to put some coin away!! Even if it means driving the T in stock form, and watching the boost gauge climb to an impressive 4.5psi
  13. I did see a thread on the dynowog cooler, but cant seem to find it again!! wanna find the dimensions and specs. are they good quality??
  14. anyone else got experiences with these coolers?? regarding fitment etc?? performance??
  15. for $35990, I think its reasonably priced... considering the other car my gf wanted was a mazda 3 sp20 (or something) and that was priced at $32000, so for an extra 3g or so, you get a better performing car, with a slick interior, and the recaro seats look pretty good too!! Not sure if my fat hide will fit too comfortably time to hit the gym again I think
  16. good point adam.. however, I'm a lazy man! and to go for a run means I have to drive up to sydney from canberra... I might do it before I put injectors on, I'll see how I go for time. Its a valid point though! and one that I never really thought of!
  17. I guess it depends what you want out of the car mate! If you're happy with a relatively stock GT, maybe a couple minor mods, then I'd probably go the GT, however, if you want to mod the car and have a beast for a relatively low cost (compared to GT) then I'd go the phoon for sure!! I know that's what I'd be doing, as once you've had the edit, there's no going back!! And I'm sure all the members here who have experienced the edit and minor mods for big power with xr6t and phoon will agree, bang for buck, you cant beat the turbos! But if you dont wanna mod, and are happy with the current performance, then the GT looks and stands out very well!
  18. cheers, I suppose I will do the mods and see what happens!! not really after too much power yet, bit concerned about the T5, especially till I save enough funds for the T56. If I can reach around the 270-280rwkw mark I'll be happy. Hopefully wont need to do valve springs yet!
  19. my girlfriend wants one! Saw it at the sydney motor show, and to be honest, its not a bad looking car. interior looked nice, and with that power I think it could be a good thing for the missus! Will stop her nagging me to take the T for a drive! Then again, she does pay half the repayments with me.... and has probably put 2000km of the 28000km .. I cant complain! but still might look into buying her one! edit, and a few mods, and it should go ok! even if it is front wheel drive!
  20. cheers for that, so I take it that the core and end tanks will more then likely be the same size?? I notice that the tube and fin is only 73, so maybe this will be the way to go... although I think I'd prefer a bar and plate intercooler. I might have to make a phone call and just find out for sure what the go is. Don't particularly want to grind the car away. In saying that, if I grind, and then return the car to stock at a later date, can the grinding be seen once the stock cooler is on?? How deep did you have to grind?? and was it a touch job?? Thanks Trough
  21. Just got an email back from ASE saying they do the xr6t intercooler in bar and plate as well as tube and fin. Just wondering if any forum members have opted for the bar and plate?? Its $850, and currently in stock. Its core dimensions are slightly bigger then the tube and fin, being 450-300-90 and the tube and fin 450-285-73 (off memory) or there abouts. For the guys who installed tube and fin, were there any dramas with installation? and do you think the bar and plate will be any harder to fit?? Cheers!
  22. Hey people, Just wondering if some of the people on this forum could answer some questions. Firstly, I am in the process of fitting injectors and intercooler, and I was wondering what the average power figure people were getting with these mods only; Edit custom tuned, intercooler (rajab or ASE), injectors (bosch 968s), CAI. And with these mods only, what type of quarter mile are people seeing using either T56 or preferably T5. I will do a qtr run myself down the track, but I'm just interested to know what other members are getting with these mods. Would it be reasonable to expect around 270-280rwkw with the above mentioned mods?? I know that doing the cat would easily make the power figure a lot higher, however, for money reasons, and also the sake of the T5 gearbox I dont wanna push towards 300rwkw just yet. Doing the cat and dump pipe will come later! My flash tuner is currently with Simon (extremef6) having some tweaks done to it for the new mods, cant wait to see how the beast goes once I've done the cooler and injectors! Your input is greatly appreciated! as I'd like to know roughly where I might be headed.
  23. Not good Danno! good luck with it all bud, let me know how ya go!
  24. around the $1900 mark in canberra!! now that's a rip! And then on top of that I think you pay extra each year to keep it!
  25. I have been running 250rwkw since september last year and no worries so far! my clutch hasn't let go once. Again, it depends how you drive it. I always told myself I wouldnt give it a belt "every" time I drove it... however, with the edit I HAVE to take it to 5800rpm in first or second at least once when I drive it... cant help myself!! especially if there is a Late model camira trying to impress! In saying that, I've had no dramas! In fact, my new injectors arrived this morning... so quick these days!! next day delivery... all I gotta do is order my clutch and cooler, get a retune and then save up for some new 19" rubber!! Once you have 250 at the wheels... its not long before the bug re-bites and more power is needed... in fact I often wonder if my car has lost power!! then when I give it some and smell the passengers after thoughts, I realise its still got it! Just me being used to it. So now I drive a little corolla to work most days, and leave the T for when I got days off and when I want some fun!
