Put me down for a maybe! I'll have to assess my roster and a few other bits and pieces. Looks like a great cruise though!

I recently bought a TT for the wife as her daily, and I've racked up more kms then her... I've recently got it custom tuned and bigger injectors, and it really hauls for a big car. I've got two baby seats in the back and I can still easily fit an adult in the middle if required. Pretty thirsty on fuel, but averaged 11.5 from canberra-sydney-canberra... JTG gas systems can be installed for about 5k, so that's another option if it becomes too thirsty.. Edit: Just read your above post which was posted while I was typing!! obviously the fuel consumption won't be an issue on a lease!

Having just got back from CV performance I can reveal that my TT made ~242awkw! I'm stoked with the new found power! Really brings back memories of my 300rwkw XR6T!! I'm pretty sure I will want to do the cooler upgrade in 12 months time or so The car had deka injectors, re-gapped plugs, secondary air intake, debunged exhaust and flash tune. Running 12psi, but I forgot to ask for other dyno sheets, I was too eager to go for a drive! Also forgot to ask for my standard injectors back Standard it made about 185awkw, so an increase of about ~60awkw. Also a nice healthy increase in torque! It really does pull hard now, hooks up and goes great for such a big car, I can only imagine how good 300awkw would feel! You can really hear the turbo spooling now, sounds great! Thanks to the boys at CV, I arrived about 1045am and was gone by about 130pm -

haha nice mate! A cooler upgrade might be the next thing. I got 12 months to plan for it though, as the wife is on maternity leave for a while! She doesn't want me spending much on the cars till she's back at work, I swear they panic about nothing!! -

Do you take it to the drags often? Or launch hard often? I think I'll see how it goes with tune/injectors etc and then look at doing FMIC down the track. I've only had the car 3wks, the wife will kill me if I break her car so soon! -

I agree, but then you're pushing 300awkw, sure you can run lower boost to lower the power/torque. I guess for me I know that for now (at least 12 months or so) I'll be happy with ~250awkw. So the intercooler upgrade isn't really on the cards yet, when or if I want more power it'll be the next step. Dyno Junkie, how's your box and drive train holding up?? It's my major concern with running bigger power, although I shouldn't worry too much, as I usually drive like a nanna and most of the time the wife will be driving it, I guess I just don't need that extra 'worry' hanging over me at the moment! -

Gazman, I will let you know how I go! It would be nice if Kev does have some better performing top mounts, it would be easier to install! Might be something I'll ask him and look at down the track. -

Hey mate, yeah I have TT and I'll be sure to let you know how it goes once the tune and injectors are done. I wouldn't fit the injectors unless you have made a prior arrangement with the tuning shop! You'll need to flash your car with a tune to suit the injectors. So you'll need a flash tuner with you once you've fitted the injectors. Are you sure the intercooler from the states will do the job well enough? If you're planning to mod further then tune/injectors then you would be best off going with a FMIC like others have suggested. I'm pretty sure shops will supply/fit for about 2k... At this stage for me, I can't justify spending money on an intercooler upgrade as I know I don't want to push more then 250awkw, but that might change down the track! I'll cross that road when I come to it though! -

I agree with both of you, and if the drive train was proven to handle 300awkw I'd be getting rid of the top mount straight away. I guess it depends on how far you want to go, who knows, down the track I might end up doing it. For now though, I need to look after the drive train! I can't speak for the OP, but by the sounds of it he'd rather not spend on an intercooler upgrade if it's not required. I don't think it's required if you're happy to sit on 10-12psi and ~240awkw.. If you want more then that, and are prepared to risk the drive train then I'd go a front mount set up for sure! -

from my research on the TT, injectors, tune, debung and a second air intake will get between 230-260awkw. The AWD saps a little more power from the wheels then usual RWD. XR6Ts will generally get more then 270rwkw with injectors, tune, air intake and cat. From what I've read, doing the cat will not give a big increase in power, dump/cat will help though. I've got exhaust debunged and second air intake, and I'll be getting tune and injectors tomorrow, so I'll let you know how it all goes. I've also read that the input shaft struggles with power at 300awkw, doing the intercooler as well as the other mods will see you hit 300awkw or close enough to it.. -
Oh ok, cool thanks mate!

Sorry for the thread hijack! But I recently bought a turbo terry, and sometimes when I change from 2-3 or 3-4 the revs still sit at about 3000rpm for a bit (not belting it, just normal driving). Or the other day I was overtaking in normal D mode and when I backed off the accelerator the revs were still high and slowly coming down (it didn't change into 5th or 6th) and I had to manually shift it to 6th to get the revs back. Is this normal?? I only bought it 3wks ago, and plan to take it to CV for a tune and injectors soon... But if it's got a gearbox issue I'd rather let ford sort it out first. It's only got 32,000kms on it (07 model).

if you're going to mod, then f*ck the extended warranty... it'll be worth sh*t... As people have said, if you play you pay. if you manage to weasle a warranty claim, then best of luck to you. I have extended warranty on my turbo terry, but not because I wanted it... It was basically a condition of sale, and I accepted it for no other reason then 10yrs of ford road side assistance! I get a 10yr warranty (depending on service conditions and mods etc), plus road side assistance, so the road side alone was worth not haggling any further! I doubt they would have budged much on price anyway. Even if I mod, at least road side assistance will till tow me to a repair shop if my mods cause my gearbox to crap itself!
-
That's true, but the training isn't just about driving... So whilst it may not slow you down quicker, it will give you a better chance at reading the road, conditions and assessing the risk. All these combined will help you make 'more' correct decisions, and this is usually the difference between having a crash or keeping on the road. When most people drive fast they end up with tunnel vision, you only really concentrate on what's in front of you and this is what is most dangerous. A trained driver (police even) will constantly look around and assess, re-assess, not to mention they usually have some one else in the car keeping an eye on road and traffic conditions.
-
That might be true, but it could be regulated so that only certain qualified people can install etc.. But I agree, if it's anything like the insulation fiasco, then it would not make a difference.
-
I'm sure you're just using the 150km/h in a 60 zone as an example? At least I hope you are... I doubt any cop would travel at those speeds in a 60 zone! The risk would be far too great. For peoples info, the roads travelled in this case were 100km/h and 80km/h zones. Secondly, police are trained in Urgent Duty Driving, which gives them a little more insight into driving cars, not just driving but also risk assessment etc. In this particular case, the crim was going to speed and drive dangerously regardless of the chase. So what are the police to do? Unfortunately if it's a stolen car they can't just log rego details and proceed by way of summons or any other means to gain justice for the offence. They initiate a pursuit in the hope that the offender will pull over (some do).. If crims know that cops won't give chase, then they'll simply run riot. This particular crim enjoyed making the police initiate a pursuit, he got his kicks from it... If the cops didn't chase he'd still speed and drive dangerously because he did not care about any of the consequences. Here's an idea, and although it won't stop all cars from being stolen, it might make it harder for crims. Perhaps all motorists, as part of the rego process should need to have a car fitted with an alarm and immobiliser. Sure some people may not be able to afford it, but just like being able to afford new tyres or keeping a car roadworthy is should be factored in. Who knows what the answer is, all I know is that I feel sorry for the police, they are literally damned if they do, or damned if they don't. If they didn't give chase to a speeding, drunk, (or whatever) motorist and that motorist killed an innocent family 1km up the road, the police would be crucified for NOT chasing... go figure.
-
I have to drive through that intersection on my way to and from work, and seeing the scene of the crash was a very sobering experience to say the least. It's a very sad situation for the innocent family killed, but slightly ironic that they were killed by a person they knew. I can't believe the few people on here criticising the police actions... Also, for the people that aren't aware, due the proximity of Queanbeyan to the ACT, NSW cops stationed at Queanbeyan are often sworn in as special constables to the AFP so that they can cross the border if need be. So the chase was 'legal' and by the sounds of it the cops did exactly what they are employed to do! Regardless of whether the cops chased him or not, he'd still drive in a manner dangerous (lets face it, he was a f*ckwit)... He obviously didn't learn from the first time he was in a coma! If only he never woke from that incident, this incident never would have happened! And what if the cops saw him speed through an RBT, and didn't chase him, only for the same outcome to happen? What would be said then? The cops would be crucified for NOT trying to stop him... At the end of the day, this was a guy who had absolutely no regard for his or anyone elses life. It's just a shame that he's ruined so many other peoples lives because of his own selfish attitude. Until the courts get tough, or until the coppers are allowed to use more force, people will continue to run. Here's hoping that with technological advances it'll become easier to track and locate criminals without the need for a pursuit.

Tab, believe me that was the first bloody thought that went through my head when I brought the car home and thought about mods... if only it was an XR6T motor in this car... But I've slowly started to enjoy the V8.. Looking forward to doing the exhaust and just getting a nice rumble... Knowing me, I'll end up going the forced induction path... might be cheaper to whack an XR6T motor in it though... Rough estimates from a few shops suggest to allow at least 12-15k to go FI... Although if I went the T motor I'd lose my V8 rumble and the novelty of the 8... although I'd have one quick limo! I guess I'll give it a few months and see how things go... I'd love to supercharge it and have a nice 300-350rwkw, but I have to learn a bit more about these motors before I dive into anything!
-
I'll def be getting some nice rims down the track! I'm thinking 20s will be big enough, but who knows, perhaps 22s will set it off better.. And I'm pretty keen on a darker tint too, but I might leave that till I've done everything else! haha, yeah sometimes I think of it as a silver taxi... I'm glad it's black! Living in canberra I probably look like a chauffer for the pollies I might have to throw a few 100kg mates in the back and see what it looks like

thanks Tab, I couldn't figure out how to get the pics like that...just a bit of laziness on my part, it's driving an auto that's done it to me RIPGMH, it's certainly got some room in it! I love the lengthened look, makes me feel like Vito Corleone... Need some darker tint I think

G'day All, * Mods, I wasn't sure if to post this here, or in the WSP sponsor section? I didn't want to clatter their section, but please feel free to move it if you think it's more appropriate there. Just thought I'd take the chance to thank Pat and the guys at WSP in Penrith. I made the journey from canberra a few days back to have my Fairlane lowered on SL and SSSL springs (Pat can confirm, I think he said SSSL). They guys did a great job and even provided a drop off/pick up service to Penrith plaza for my missus, mother in law and I. Anyway, having sold my XR6T in November 2007 to finance a house, I was getting itchy to get back into something with a bit of grunt! I was planning on another T, an SS sportswagon or and XR8.. But when I spotted a BF Fairlane G8 with 42,000kms, I knew what I wanted! It was just something so different, and I loved the look of it! To be honest I was initially a little disappointed with the power/grunt of the 5.4L 3V motor, but given a bit of time behind the wheel I'm really starting to appreciate it's low down grunt! I've realised that modding this is going to be more expensive then the T, but it's the compromise I was willing to make for the look of the G8. I've started off with doing the F6 lower intake but I didn't notice too much difference, and now the lowered suspension which has totally transformed the look of the car! Next on the list is a camber/caster kit to help an issue with the car pulling left and then some new shocks. After that I'll look for a full exhaust system, perhaps with quad tips, open up the air intake and get a tune. I'll hopefully finish it off with some nice 20s... I initially planned to give it some kind of forced induction, but I think that might be a little stretch on the budget, you never know though Anyway, once again to the guys at Wholesale Suspension, the car looks great and the pics I've taken don't do it justice! Sorry for the quality, it was a quick snap with my N97. As I do more to it, and give it a thorough detail I'll post up some more pics! BTW I have never washed a car so much in my life! But I love the colour black when it's clean! I haven't uploaded pics for ages, so I'm not sure if this will work!

yeah I got it the other day, and got a steering wheel for it yesterday. I haven't yet got quicker lap times with the wheel, but I'm improving.. it's so much more fun with the wheel.. What sort of wheel are people using for xbox 360?? I got the microsoft one, after reading several reviews, it seemed to get a lot of thumbs up... It feels good, and has good force feedback. How's the logitech? it was my other option, I hope I don't regret the microsoft choice, although so far so good...

I've got a .223, .270 and .22... I use the .223 on 99% of shoots, as it's just a good all round gun for the stuff we shoot (just outside of canberra). I find the .270 too loud for certain things, and it ends up scaring everything away for miles!! I love the .270 though, shoots flat as a tack, and is accurate at long distances. The .223 is just a more practical gun for the area we shoot. Although I might take the .270 out next time, give it a good work out! Unfortunately I don't get to shoot as often as I'd like, usually go a few times a year..

bugger... I wonder how much it'll be to fix

that's what my front drivers side window does... I put it down to icey dew stuff.. Might need to lube them up a bit though.. don't want my window to be stuck down
